The hard-nosed, cynical population of 1.585 billion Halsonians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The large, corrupt, socially-minded, well-organized government prioritizes Defense, with Administration, Law & Order, and Healthcare also on the agenda, while Spirituality is ignored. Artists from across the nation compete to renovate the restrooms of old government buildings, the government pours millions of Yuan into rehabilitation programs annually, most pop videos prominently feature the Halsonian flag, and widespread voter apathy has been credited to allegations that all candidates are puppets of Celestial Dragon Emperor Yu Shin. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare.
