The Nation of Northern Cheek is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Alvrik Thoresen with a fair hand, and notable for its punitive income tax rates, restrictive gun laws, and stringent health and safety legislation. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 2.311 billion Cheekians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The large, liberal, socially-minded, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Education, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Anterrockport. The average income tax rate is 90.4%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Northern Cheekian economy, worth 355 trillion plops a year, is quite specialized and dominated by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Automobile Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is an impressive 153,661 plops, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Tax revenue is often intercepted by international accountants before ever seeing the national treasury, prime real estate is devoted to wind farms and solar energy generators, oil executives can be seen reluctantly cleaning oil-soaked birds, and centuries-old legal documents detailing agnatic-cognatic gavelkind succession are being dusted off again. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Northern Cheek's national animal is the Northern Cheek marten, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Civitarianism.

Northern Cheek is ranked 215,068^th in the world and 2,989^th in The North Pacific for Least Corrupt Governments, with 92.35 percentage of bribes refused.
