Awakening of the Eastern Bear

In 1957, many thought that Luckyan would inspire hope and liberation for the Rossiean people, finally ousting the tyranny of the Vanguard and reforming Sergeism into the lines of the old Commonerism, where for once more in its history, democracy would usher under the egalitarianism of Socialism, however, all was dashed, or in reality, stomped by the boots of the Army and the Police, shut by the agents of the CIC, crushed by the tracks of the tanks, and strangled by the Iron Fist of one man that decided that the new Chairman will dash all the toil and realizations done in a lifetime, that man, eight years later sits on top of hundred of millions, his name is... Timor Volkov. After he took power, he infamously quashed the protesters through a hail of bullets and rolled over them with the tanks, flooding the Red Square with blood. The rest of the Military and the Police soon fell in line and blocked any travel of information or people to disorganize any efforts of resistance. In the meanwhile, the CIC and the Media apparatus propagated the Coup as a Counter to preserve Sergeism and portrayed Luckyan as an agent of the West, bought to destroy the foundations of the Revolution. Thousands have resisted, however, they got killed and shut down under the pressure of the Police State. The gamble of Volkov and Shetekauri paid off and now they had to consolidate the State Apparatus and purge of any rival influences.

Rossiean is now a Despotate under the reign of the Marshall, a Hero of the USSR who protected and defeated the bourgeoisie and their reactionary allies on two occasions: back in 1925 during the April Revolution, which overthrew the Ancient Tsars, and in 1957 during the August Coup kicking the newly elected Chairman, Luckyan Yuri. Although the Media portrays him as a Revolutionary and Chosen of the People, he is nothing like that. He is neither an Idealist, nor an Elected, but rather a man of career, driven by achievements and power, he cares not for holding the Sergeist ideology, although he sees the merit and use of letting it remain as a facade for the fools below. The outside man may see him as the Paramount Leader, but when looked deeper, Rossiean is ruled by a Securocratic Triumvirate. The Military, the CIC, and the Vanguard Party all share power, but their dynamic is not equal and of cooperation, but that of attempting to consolidate and weaken each other.

The Military knows only one Chief, the man himself, Marshall Timor Volkov, leader of the Armed Forces and the Land Army, commonly known as the Red Army. Volkov is a man of immense ambition and drive to reach higher achievements and power. Although the CIC tipped him off about his forced retirement, helped him with orchestrating the Coup and consolidating power during the initial phase of his reign. he remains wary and vigilant as the CIC tries to wrestle for more power, especially in the Police Force. On the other hand, he attempts to erode the legacy of Sergeism and use it for his gain to keep the people in line with his Military Dictatorship.

The CIC, or the Central Intelligence Commissariat is led by the Head Director Givi Shetekauri, a much more subtle man than the Chief, but with the same destiny as him, both competing for the throne of the Despotate. Where Volkov crushes everything with bangs and thunder, Givi's Informants and Agents silence dissent in dark corners and under opportune circumstances. When Luckyan took power, he was sure that he would be arrested and sentenced for his crimes, so he employed the help of the Marshall to avoid this fate.

The RCP has remained, however, it's only a shadow of its former self and remained as a facade and a source of legitimacy for the Securocracy. Laws aren't made by the Politicians, but rather, they are maintained by the Enforcers. The vestiges of Sergeism are not burning with passion and resolve as they once were, but are slowly dying in the face of the Reactionaries at the helm. Those are the exact thoughts of the General Secretary of the RCP, Stepan Vlasenko, a compromise, between the Orthodox Grisha and the Nationalist Nikolay. Although this coalition would've faltered apart just like in 1936 in a power struggle, the current circumstances with Volkov and Shetekauri trying to erode their legitimacy allowed them to remain tightly united. Slowly, they demand their rightful legitimacy and return Rossiean to a One-Party Vanguard Republic, and allow the Civilian rule to return.

In his eight years of reign, the Chief waited for the opportune moment, watching in silence for the OCS to fail its mission and for war to rage in the World once more. Luckily for him, it happened. In the North, the Galayar are fighting against Schweitser, Styldavia, and Aetheodaland in the forests deep North. In the South, Raflandia and Draconovox are trying to steal away the Oncadian colonies of Etchemin and Haifalem, with Melihosnovis and Woseka being involved too. Now that they're distracted, we can enter the show too, but not directly. We will only help them at a distance and keep the homeland in peace. Let them tire themselves out, and once the war reaches its climax and the popular exhaustion is high enough, they will be swayed under the Red Wave. To begin our entrance, the Marshall will send a proposal to the Galayarese to help them out against the Western Capitalists by sending an expeditionary force, weapons, and some air support.

And so, the Eastern Bear awakens, rubbing his hands as he sees his enemies fighting amongst each other.

"Might as well just hang out a bit more, it doesn't hurt shooting my gun until the magazine is depleted".

====================

October 2nd, 1964

General Vitomir Shpilman was not normally a particularly patient man, and, considering the situation he was in right now, his patience might as well just not exist. While the Battle of Bokhny ended in a victory for Galayar, it might as well have been a pyrrhic one. With casualties higher than expected, the battle lasting longer than expected, allowing OCS troops to reorganize and for their reinforcements to arrive, and Aetheodish missiles striking important military and civilian outposts, which have strained the transportation of essential supplies, Shpilman found himself in a precarious situation that he must somehow solve one way or another. With the 11th Infantry Division and 2nd Armored Division preparing themselves to make their way onto Telvanykivka, Shpilman, along with his subordinate officers, must find the perfect way to attack the city. Telvanykivka is an important target in the Morovina campaign due to it being an important supply hub that houses one of the most important railway lines that connects it with the city of Vardiansk, which is in itself one of the main targets in the campaign due to its status as one of Styldavia's most important ports.

"Alright ya twats, think I got a plan so as to capture old Telvany" The sound of rain and thunder muffled Shpilman's rough voice which was directed at his fellow officers.

"So, both the 11th and the 2nd need to use one of the highways that leads into the city, right? I'd say that we use the highway that goes North to South since that one will allow us to split the city in two and start bombing any sort of reinforcements that decide to foolishly arrive in the city".

"However, capturing the damn thing will not be easy. Due to the absolute slog that was Bokhny, I expect the city to be more defended than Galan's palace itself. If our reconnaissance missions are to be believed, it seems Schweits tanks and soldiers, along with the remnants of the Aetheodish and Styldavian boys we fought, are gonna defend that city with the help of their stupid little ridge until the last of their sods is blown up. Unfortunately for us, our supplies are pretty limited due to the Theodic barbarians blowing up our sh*t with their missiles. Well, eye for an eye I suppose, even if it makes the whole world go blind".

"Anyways, both of our divisions number around 25,000 men. Will that be enough? Frankly, I have no idea. While the Air Force is in good condition so far and has been doing a good job at establishing offensives in the sky and bombing important targets, I soon expect it to be quickly overwhelmed by the combined NSP detachment that is flying over this damn oblast. Also, the damn hohols blew up the bridges that actually take us to the city. By the time our engineers make some bridges, I expect NSP forces to be more consolidated...god damn it! This really is a slap in the face for me. Wish Iskrenov wasn't such a buffoon and could actually help me with all of this instead of making this worse...and don't y'all dare tell him that I said this...or else your heads are getting mailed to your mothers!".

"Well, I guess we'll just have to wing it for this one. We'll have to capture Telvany's station and stockyard as soon as possible before the NSP can react, and then...well, it's time to go into the trenches, my guys! Ahh, just like in the glorious twenties...well, anyways, no objections allowed, remember that, or else we're getting killed by the three big boys back in Galanta, ha!".

(Additionally, the Rossiean proposal of aid in our struggle against the OCS is fully accepted, but it is expected that their help will arrive after the initial Galayarese offensive)

"Better late than never I suppose".

====================

October 9th, 1964

Away down South in Morovina, things were going less than well for both the Styldavians and the Galayarese. It was a complete bloodbath which seemingly offered no amount of mercy or kindness. Many knew that was the reality of war, but few actually experienced the nightmare that it actually was. While the Southwest trembled in fear as Mars pierced even the toughest of souls with his sword, the Northwest seemed to be relatively calm in comparison. Ever since the war started, the Zadneskovian campaign hasn't really commenced due to a myriad of problems, including weather and a general sense of focus that is directed more at the Morovinan campaign. Generals Kaloyanov and Soukup have also been struggling to come up with a reasonable war plan that can be executed in a swift, effective, and non-risky manner due to constant infighting between them and general disagreements in strategy. This has obviously lead to dissatisfaction among the Troika and even the soldiers and officers of the V. Falanga. However, it seems that salvation has come in the most unexpected of ways, as an ambitious Colonel-General by the name of Martin Daskalov, who is in charge of the 40th Infantry Division stationed near the border town of Somovit, has idealized and fine-tuned a plan he has been working on ever since the start of the war. Daskalov delegated his plan to Kaloyanov while both men were in an important meeting between division commanders, and needless to say, the aging general was quite impressed by the ambition and thunderous energy the young commander had to offer with his plan. Kaloyanov and Soukup, after much negotiation between the two, have let the young commander's plan be executed as soon as possible, and Kaloyanov has even gone so far as to completely delegate his role as main general of the V. Falanga to Daskalov, as he feels that, if his plan is to work, then the best way to implement it is to let the mastermind behind it take control of everyone and everything that is involved.

Dubbed "Operation Erul", Daskalov's plan roughly goes as follows: Three armored divisions (the 14th, the 15th, and the 18th) and one infantry division (the 40th) will initiate an offensive against Styldavian ground south of the city of Chernopol so as to initiate an encircling manuever that will completely surround said city and will also attack the town of Vedmak. Approximately 55k men will be used for this manuever.

Secondly, two armored divisions (the 16th and the 17th) and four infantry divisions (the 43rd, 47th, 49th, and 51st) will move from Gigen in the South and Izvor in the North respectively so as to initiate a pincer movement that is set to encircle and completely destroy the Styldavian 4th Mechanized Division, and the 5 and 6th Tank Divisions. Additionally, the River Rudka will be secured so as to start and axis of advance and attack the town of Bodnariv and chaos further chaos among Styldavian troops in the area. This part of "Erul" will use approximately 75k men

Finally, but certainly not least, four infantry divisions (the 44th, 45th, 46th, and 48th) will attack North from Yarlov and South from Somovit so as to exploit a corps gap Daskalov wisely spotted and create a southward gap wheel so as to flank the town of Khalyuk and aid the Morovinan campaign's chain of command capture the important target. This final manuever will use approximately 40k men.

Operation Erul and its accompanying Air Force campaign has been greenlit completely by the Troika and other important members of the Army, and is expected to be executed on October 17th, 1964 so as to prepare the troops and tune any aspects of the plan. It is expected that, if successful, Erul could be decisive in the outcome of the Galo-Styldavian War, and could lead to further successes later down the line which could eventually break the stalemate that is currently embroiling the conflict.

Neoraflan Military District Established

With the surrender of Neoraflan, a state which the Confederacy has not recognized as sovereign or independent of Raflandian authority and lines being secured for a further advance into Raflandia, a military district under the governance of the Confederate Armed Forces has been established. Projects to restore infrastructure within the military district has gone underway and an interim government is posted in Freedom City, chaired by locals who have taken an oath of loyalty to the Confederacy. The confederate Congress has also declared an initiative to support businesses throughout the military district. Civilians seeking to revitalize industry, which was previously under the government's control, are authorized to submit appeals for federal funds through military garrison offices. These appeals will then be reviewed by congressional subcommittees made up of congressionally appointed loan aids who will determine eligibility for the funds. By direction of Congress, these funds will be given out generously to facilitate an economy back in the hands of the people of the district. In another campaign, Congress has provided approval for the raising of volunteer companies in the military district. Any locals who wish to serve in a volunteer company in the confederate army are eligible for the reception of land grants, carved out of former government held property from the previous government. These volunteer companies will serve in mostly support positions, denying them the opportunity to desert the army, and still providing assistance to the confederate armed forces.

Efforts to ensure district security are also underway. Within a few weeks, Military Outposts are raised in strategic positions near Neoraflanian hamlets and villages on top of the garrisons already set up in major towns. The purpose of these outposts is to keep a watchful eye on the population while they settle into their new lives under temporary military rule. As part of this, the Neoraflan Civilian Corps of Loyalists (NCCL) is formed to provide intel for the military. Members will receive tax relief and greater likelihood of receiving federal grants as well as passes for quick searches at military checkpoints for their loyalty and assistance. Frequently, patrols are sent out to respond to any suspicious activity or to seize collected intel that may contribute to resistance movements.

On the front lines, the siege continues at Frostharbour and confederate army and marine units are regularly rotated off of the front lines while new units are rotated in to provide time for the units to recover before being sent back into the fight. Raflandian forces are not given this luxury while under siege. Blocked by land and blocked by sea, they are not receiving more troops or food like the confederate army is. Enraged by the failure of the naval air wings to destroy the FNS Frostharbour, the Confederate Navy has been sent in to clean up the job. The FCS “Negansett” with the escort of submarine hunters and cruisers from the second fleet assaulted the port where the aircraft carrier was stationed, and after a short naval battle, enough shells from the battleship had torn through the decks of the aircraft carrier that it was declared in operable and defeated. The prize of the Raflandian navy has been sunk, further opening the naval passage into the city.

Further east, the army continued their advance and reached the established Cumarbour line that the Raflandian army withdrew to. Spearheaded by armor columns, the confederate army will be hitting this Frontline very hard. Land taken in the wake of the deeper invasion will also be put to use for the army. Corporate warehouses, military storehouses, and local farms will be turned out for the use of the army. Areas of elevation in this recently taken territory will also be used to set up radio relays, radar systems, and artillery batteries for the coming assault on the Cumarbour line.

In the political world of the confederacy, former military general, Andrew Davis, who recently resigned as general of the army has announced his bid for the presidency under the Freedom Party. After announcing his run, he was immediately endorsed by the current president, President Budd. During the war, Andrew Davis served as the right hand man for Budd and so the two had an existing connection. Freedom party leadership urged Andrew Davis, who they also endorsed, to potentially work with the heritage party. If the two did not work together, the vote would be split and would likely go to the prosperity party. In compromise, Andrew Davis declared his running mate would be Barrett Lawson, the heritage party leading member, Congressional Minority leader and potential prospect for the heritage party nomination in the presidential election. It seems as though the campaign for Davis will focus on continuing the initiatives of the previous administration and maintaining Confederate values.

The prosperity party also announced their endorsement for the presidency. They were endorsing Terrence Parton, A two term serving member of Congress and short serving veteran of the Civil War. Though he only served for five months in an enlisted role, this service was early in the war before he was discharged for a severe illness that he contracted. Upon recovering, he was elected to Congress for the later half of the war as one of the few prosperity party members elected, and the only new prosperity party member elected. All others during the Civil War were reelected from their previous positions or replaced with members of the other parties. Terrence Parton has been a big supporter of reforming the prison system in the confederacy, but has proven to be very unpopular with many of the southern states who claim that he exaggerated his illness to get out of service.

Before the year is out, the confederacy will have a new president who will determine the fate of the nation and the war. It is at this time that President Budd prepares to leave office and usher in the new leadership for the country.

"The monster that is industry decides who wins wars nowadays".

====================

October 12th, 1964

What seemed to be a short and glorious conflict has seemingly turned into a nightmare for both the NSP and Galayar. With the Galayarese Far-West and the Styldavian Far-East being torn to shreds by steel and blood, it has become obvious to almost everyone that this conflict will last a long time, years even. So far, mass mobilization of the reserves and the economy has not been enacted by the Galayarese Troika, but if the war is to be won effectively in the long term, it seems that will have to be a necessity. The results of the First Five Year plan will now truly come into fruition at Galayar's most needed hour, and Felix Dahlke, current Minister of Economics and Developement, will be sure that the machine that is the Galayarese war economy will be as brutally efficient as possible.

On October 12th, 1964, a general announcement was made to the people of Galayar by the Troika. They congratulated them for their efforts at resisting and living through these hard times, and reassured them that the war would be over soon if they were willing to make one, big sacrifice: Allow mobilization to occur. All abled-body men between the ages of 18 and 45 will be deemed fit for the potentially 6 waves of mobilization that may occur depending on the length and intensity of the conflict with Styldavia in the future. Each wave will give the army a surplus of approximately 500k men, and, if the final 6th wave is to be established, approximately 3 million additional men in total would be in the Army. The first wave of mobilization would occur that very same day, and new men are now being sent to the II and V Falangas and onto the frontlines of what has become Coldonia's deadliest conflict post-Great War.

As for the economy, mobilization has greatly affected it too. Civilian industries have been recalibrated so as to start contributing to the war effort and start manufacturing all the needed goods for new weapons and other vital resources. Military design bureaus are now hard at work producing new designs for tanks, planes, rifles, and other weapons, and Galayar's shipyards have embarked on their most ambitious project as of yet: Completely restructure and modernize the Galayarese Navy so it can at least defend the waters of the nation. This naval modernization program would focus more on building submarines and other ships destined for all sorts of interdiction, and would be key in making sure a hypothetical NSP blockade is made completely null. The first submarine designs have already been made by various independent engineers and design bureaus, and the designs which have gained the interest of the Navy have been given the seal of approval and will soon be put into production. While the Galayarese Navy will obviously never match the joint forces of the NSP, it will do its best to rain hell on them for the duration of the war.

НАСТУП «ЕРУЛЬ» / THE ERUL OFFENSIVE

Thirty-seven days passed between the beginning of the war on September 10th, 1964, and the start of Operation Erul on October 17th. During this time, little movement occurred along the frontlines in Zadneskovia Oblast, although Galayarese units made small probing attacks to gauge the strength of local Styldavian forces, which consisted of 12 divisions split across the 1st and 8th Army Corps.

To Galayarese officers on the ground, it became quickly apparent that the Styldavian army was stretched thin across the front, outnumbered two to one by the Galayarese. Kaloyanov’s sudden announcement of an offensive into Zadneskovia was a relief from many days of frustrating inactivity.

On the Styldavian side, the delay had been crucial for organizing a defense of the oblast. In addition to preparing defensive positions, reinforcements from the western military districts had begun arriving in Zadneskovia, massing in the cities of Psmiv and Pavlohrad. More crucially, air defense regiments from these districts had been detached from their home corps and placed under the Eastern Front command. Thus, while Galayar’s air force had the upper hand in the early days of the war, that advantage began to dwindle in the days leading up to the offensive. Sorties became more costly for each side as air defenses became more concentrated.

In addition to military preparations, the Ministry of Social Policy coordinated the hasty evacuation of over 900,000 civilians from frontline areas, including the cities of Olenivka and Novyy Rozdil.

Frantic reports of a surge in Galayarese attacks along the line began arriving at front commander Oleksandr Kutsyn’s HQ on October 17th, indicating that the long-expected offensive had finally begun.

====================

On the grassy hills stretching south from Chornopil, the Styldavian line buckled under the weight of the Galayarese forces arrayed against it. By the 26th, sustained attacks by Galayarese armored and mechanized formations had broken through the middle of Petrushevych’s 1st Corps, creating a massive gap between Chornopil and Olenivka. While the other three divisions assigned to the attack pushed Styldavian forces northwest, the 15th Armored Division was able to drive past Olenivka and into the open ground between Vidmak and Bodnariv, threatening the rear of Olenivka’s two defending divisions.

In accordance with Kutsyn’s contingencies, the 9th Mechanized Division and 1st and 10th Tank Divisions gradually fell back to a prepared line from Vidmak to Chornopil, preserving Chornopil’s southern flank. Thus, the Galayarese created a huge dagger-shaped salient, with the 15th Armored on its westernmost tip.

In response to Galayar’s success in this direction, Kutsyn ordered 3rd Corps to redeploy east from Pavlohrad to stabilize the lines. The 1st Airborne Division under Gen. Div. Petro Usenko was detached to reinforce the 2nd Mechanized Division at Chornopil itself, which had successfully repelled two Galayarese attacks between the 17th and 21st. The airborne troops helped throw back a third and final Galayarese attack on the 25th.

====================

====================

PRELUDE

Galayarese fortunes in this operation were more mixed. Aware of his enemy’s overwhelming numerical advantage, 8th Corps’s commander Serhii Kotenko authorized his division commanders to use a strategy of elastic defense, constantly retreating to new positions once the enemy’s presence became overwhelming. Thus, Styldavian divisions gradually fell back along the entire line, focusing on inflicting as many losses on the attackers as possible. A month of preparation had allowed them to scout out potential sites for ambushes in the wooded hills east of Bodnariv, with lethal consequences for the Galayarese conscripts attempting to push forward.

SOUTHERN ADVANCE; NOVYY ROZDIL FALLS

Using mobility and numbers, Galayar’s 16th and 17th Armored Divisions were able to push the 5th Tank Division many miles west of Bodnariv by October 20th. With the 51st Infantry Division covering their rear, the armored divisions had completed the southern half of Daskalov’s planned encirclement and opened a considerable gap in the middle of 8th Corps. The 17th’s lead tanks were in a position to cut the supply line to the divisions defending Novyy Rozdil. To avoid encirclement, Kotenko made the hard choice to abandon Novyy Rozdil, ordering the 13th Mechanized Division to move north to check the 17th’s advance while the 12th Mechanized fought a delaying action west of Novyy Rozdil. Once the 13th had escaped, the 12th redeployed to more favorable positions north of Dobrovidka. Abandoned by its defenders, Novyy Rozdil was occupied by Galayar’s 61st Division on October 21st.

THE BATTLE OF THE RUDKA

Meanwhile, in the north, Galayarese forces pushed forward at a slower pace. By October 23rd, Styldavia’s 4th Mechanized Division had retreated across the Rudka River north of Bodnariv. Engineers were able to blow the bridge just hours before the lead elements of Galayar’s 47th Infantry Division arrived on the eastern side. With no option left, the three infantry divisions assigned to the northern half of the pincer prepared to break across the river, thus beginning the Battle of the Rudka in the early morning of October 25th, 1964.

The battle’s outcome was shaped by a key weakness in the Galayarese command structure, where the lack of clearly defined operational leadership above the divisional level and below the strategic falanga level left the planning for a complex crossing operation to a trio of unprepared division commanders. The resulting Galayarese attacks were clumsy and poorly coordinated. The crowded riverbank was pounded mercilessly by Styldavian artillery as Galayarese infantry attempted to cross in boats and hastily assembled pontoon bridges. Seeing that their attack was failing, the division commanders called it off and prepared to attack the next day. However, that attack never took place.

Hearing reports of a costly Galayarese failure on the river, the 6th Tank Division’s commander Oleksiy Petrenko realized that the bloodied enemy was vulnerable to a counterattack. Although his unit was the only one defending Bodnariv, Petrenko took a massive gamble by withdrawing as many tanks from the defenses as possible without alerting the 51st Infantry Division south of the city. Those tanks then rapidly advanced north, smashing into the unprepared 49th Infantry Division. The men of the 49th had taken horrific losses in the previous day and in the fighting up to the river; Petrenko’s assault completely routed the 49th. His tanks retreated back to Bodnariv before the other infantry divisions could counterattack. This “sally” simultaneously ended the Battle of the Rudka and any prospect of encircling Bodnariv.

AFTERMATH

Kotenko’s success on the left flank prevented the complete collapse of his corps. It also saved the defenders of Olenivka, who could easily have been cut off if one of infantry divisions assigned to encircle Bodnariv had pushed north. However, the division commanders assigned to the task of crossing the Rudka had single-mindedly pursued their goal with disastrous consequences.

The precarious situation of 8th Corps was soon reinforced by Styldavia’s 7th Corps, which had been preparing to deploy out of Psmiv after arriving there on September 21st. Two days after their victory, Petrenko’s tanks at Bodnariv were joined by the Airborne Division to defend Bodnariv, while two mechanized divisions and two rifle divisions moved east and south respectively to stabilize the Styldavian lines.

Galayar’s advance towards Dobrovidka was the least successful aspect of Operation Erul. The advance was hindered by mountainous terrain, as the objective lay in the foothills of the so-called Spinal Mountains. Thus, Galayar’s forces in the area were soon funneled into winding mountain roads that could be easily defended by small detachments of the 1st Rifle Division. Although they were badly outnumbered, the Styldavians had plenty of time to prepare ambushes at key bottlenecks, which they sprung with devastating effect on the Galayarese columns of thin-skinned trucks and APCs. After striking the Galayarese, Styldavian forces would swiftly retreat, often dynamiting slopes to block the roads behind them that required the tireless work of Galayarese engineers to restore.

Thus, the Galayarese advance turned into a slow, costly crawl that was only halfway to Dobrovidka by the 29th. The two divisions that attempted to wheel southward were even less successful, being halted by 9th Corps’s two rifle divisions north of Khlalyuk on the 21st and unable to advance further after that.

====================

Twelve days in, Operation Erul began to slow down as the reserve corps arrived to plug the gaps in the line. Fighting would go on for another week or so, but by early November the autumn rains were falling in earnest, creating a phenomenon the Styldavians called ¹bezdorizhzhya. Ultimately, it was this combination of blood and mud that ground the Galayarese advance to a halt.

In the end, Daskalov insisted that his plan had been an overall success, but attacking an entrenched and well-prepared opponent had significantly sapped the offensive capability of the Galayarese divisions involved in the operation. Although there was still some room for maneuvering, Galayar’s commanders across the line began changing to a defensive posture, anticipating a Styldavian counteroffensive in the near future.
