“DPR”K sucks, wish the PRK survived 😔

Denolia wrote:But the UK option says that the UK never expands at all, so all of those colonies, dominions, crow dependencies, none of those exist. British influence is tied solely, or at least mainly, to Europe. So if anything, lands that is in our timeline such as the US, Canada, Australia, etc, becomes either :
A ) Colonized by the other powers, likely the Spanish, French, or Dutch.
B ) Uncolonized and Independent (although unfortunately still likely to be heavily influenced or meddled with by said other European powers).

So, like, if the UK never expands, especially considering how prominent it was, EVERYTHING changes.

I'm talking about in our timeline, where Britain had dominions

The way you were wording it implied that if the UK never expanded, then not much would change.

Because they would probably be colonized by France or the Iberians anyways, and rebel.

Russoblast wrote:Because they would probably be colonized by France or the Iberians anyways, and rebel.

Keep in mind that the ruler of a given empire, what the time is and the current standard of colonization is, and just how the country itself generally works can all have massive amounts of variety on how colonies are approached.
I mean, the way Britain and France handled their respective North American colonies in our timeline were pretty different. France was more concerned about the furs and general economic benefits, and essentially used it more as a business colony, whereas Britain was more concerned about settling the colonies.

Not to mention, the lack of Britain to maintain colonies on the east cost of North America would leave a pretty large amount of territory for European territories to expand into, possibly even allowing the Dutch and Swedish colonies succeed, or at least maintain their place. And who knows, maybe even more would join in the east-cost party. The US is a uniquely British product I supposed you could say, and if more than one European power successfully colonized the east cost in place of Britain, then there may not even be the concept a single government ruling over that area.

Keep in mind that just now I was only talking about North American colonies, and considering how prominent the US has been in recent history, not even having a replacement version would radically alter the course of modern history.
And this is just in North America. The British Empire was THE single largest empire in Human history, which means there’s a lot of land to be divided amongst various powers (not even necessarily required to be European).

A history without the British empire wouldn’t magically converge into the modern world, with the US speaking French instead, entire histories of entire continents would change due to the temporal vacuum left by the British. Everything is connected.

aaaaand the RMB had exploded into a bunch of mess, with like 3 people arguing over what the British Empire's true influence was.
(I'm sorry plz dont kill me)

13th June 323 BCE (2343 years ago): Alexander the Great dies

Alexander the Great, the young Macedonian military genius who forged an empire stretching from the eastern Mediterranean to India, dies in Babylon, in present-day Iraq, at the age of 32.

During his youth, Alexander was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. His father Philip was assassinated in 336 BC at Alexander's sister's wedding, and Alexander assumed the throne to the Kingdom of Macedon. After sacking the city of Thebes, Alexander was awarded the generalship of Greece. He used his authority to launch his father's pan-Hellenic project, which involved him assuming the leadership position to all the Greeks in their conquest of Persia.

In 334 BCE he invaded the Achaemenid Empire (Persian Empire) and began a series of campaigns that lasted 10 years. Following his conquest of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), Alexander broke the power of Persia in a series of decisive battles, including those at Issus and Gaugamela. He subsequently overthrew King Darius III and conquered the Achaemenid Empire in its entirety. At that point, his empire stretched from the Adriatic Sea to the Indus River. Alexander endeavored to reach the "ends of the world and the Great Outer Sea" and invaded India in 326 BCE, achieving an important victory over King Porus at the Battle of the Hydaspes. He eventually turned back at the Beas River due to the demand of his homesick troops and led them on a difficult journey home through the inhospitable Makran Desert..

Finally reaching Babylon, Alexander began constructing a large fleet to take his army back to Egypt. However, in June 323 BCE, just as the work on his ships was reaching its conclusion, Alexander fell sick and died. Perhaps earnestly believing himself to be a god (as many of his subjects did), he had not selected a successor, and within a year of his death his army and his empire broke into a multitude of warring factions. His body was later returned to Alexandria, where it was laid to rest in a golden coffin.

Alexander's legacy includes the cultural diffusion and syncretism which his conquests engendered, such as Greco-Buddhism and Hellenistic Judaism. He founded more than seventy cities that bore his name, most notably Alexandria in Egypt. Alexander's settlement of Greek colonists and the resulting spread of Greek culture resulted in Hellenistic civilization, which developed through the Roman Empire into modern Western culture. The Greek language became the lingua franca of the region and was the predominant language of the Byzantine Empire up until its end in the mid-15th century AD. Greek speakers in central and far eastern Anatolia survived until the Greek genocide and the population exchange in the 1920s. Alexander became legendary as a classical hero in the mould of Achilles, featuring prominently in the history and mythic traditions of both Greek and non-Greek cultures. His military achievements and enduring, unprecedented success in battle make him the measure with which many modern military leaders compare themselves. Military academies throughout the world still teach his tactics. He is often ranked among the most influential people in human history.
