My comrade index is only like 25 I feel like such a capitalist
Today is my birthday!
Soon I will be celebrating as a jew the holiday of Passover. Today the Warsaw Ghetto uprising occurred. If your are not familiar with Warsaw Ghetto uprising it was an operation where thousands of jew rose up against the Nazis when they tried to transport them to Treblinka. When the first armed resistance came people knew it was going to be a long fight. They started building bunkers and then they descended into fighting. Then came Passover. Thousands died around them and they were waist deep in mud yet through all that they had keep celebrating there faith. It took the lives of a quarter million Jews. After all that the last surviving came out of the bunkers and the saw a sea of flames. Nothing was left. I want to celebrate this day not only because of my birthday but that today my religion said no more and fought for the freedom they deserved. In the midst of the fighting. Of blood, mud, corpses they still held true to there faith and celebrated Passover. Here is a link to a detailed explanation of the uprising by the people who escaped.

Hello comrades,
Just an update on TLA’s new regional roleplay. As you know, a huge part of my campaign platform was aimed towards role play. I can proudly state that we are working towards making that a reality on the discrord server with the recent creation of the role play category and related channels.
We now have a google classroom created by yours truly where we have an assignment posted with a survey of sorts to decide certain things about the role play in question. The role play will be a government sim of sorts (cue comment about how TLA is infatuated with government simulations haha).
Any rate, here is the code to join said google classroom: fqu3hfe
If you are not interested in the role play, you are in no way mandated to join and you can carry on with your 4/20 celebrations 🎊 🥳.

Attention!
I am here to report that suspiscious activity is occurring in KAISERREICH, Montealba, and Driselbia.
These activities appear to be symptoms of ultranationalism and fascism. War chanting in the RMB, open hostility towards regions of different national classification/focus, and unwavering unanimity in their regional ideology. It is notable that Montealba and Driselbia are regions which are directly aligned with KAISERREICH, a region which has been liberated recently for suspected radicalism and fascist sentiments behind closed doors and under the guise of Monarchism/so-called "Anarcho-Monarchism."
Stay vigilant with these, friends. The Wolf Clan invaders have been targeting these regions in the hopes of exposing the ignorant nations within the KAISERREICH of its inherent toxicity and violation of the sanctity of human liberties.

You’d be surprised that you’re in the top 25% in TLA for the Comrade Index. The people at the top have pushed their stats for a long time, you should be able to get there over time.
My issues:
1. We allow endorsements for former and current PMs and Secretaries where they can support various election candidates. One can consider this as a “power”, and by Clause 1 of your act, this is prohibited.
2. This should not be a separate act, but part of the Election Act and Criminal Offences Act. Clauses 1-4 of your act should be subsections of Section 1 of the Criminal Offences Act, and there should be a subsection under Section 3 of the Elections Act that states “The following actions are considered a criminal offence” with Clauses 5-8 under it.
I find the act a good idea but it could be brushed up.
It should be titled the Electoral Conduct Bill, not Act. It becomes an Act if passed into law.
That being said, I question whether this should instead be included in the Criminal Offence Act.
Alternatively, all criminal offences relating to elections should be in this bill and scrapped from the COA.
I think a better way to set it out could be a definition at the start along the lines of "Platforms utilised by a significant proportion of the region for communication purposes, including, but not limited to, NationStates and the regional Discord server, shall hereby be known as regional platforms" and then use that throughout, rather than constantly repeating yourself.
Clause 5 should not be included. Where possible, yes there should be no candidates in the electoral committee, but for the founder position if all three are running, then one must be on the committee for vote clarification.
UK English should be used as per precedent - super picky but "utilize" should be "utilise". 😋
Mentioning "regional officer, administrator, or moderator" is restrictive. For example, the Discord admin team has the ability to allow someone not in any of those post to #announcements, and with this law they could technically use it for those purposes. Just generalise to anyone with the capacity to do so.
Does clause 3 stop endorsements? One could make a case that endorsements effectively "damage" an opponent's campaign. This feels open to being abused.
Otherwise, I overall agree with the substantial nature of the bill.
The Criminal Offence Amendment (In-Court Offences) has been applied to the Criminal Offence Act and archived on the founder account.
Purpose
The amendment seeks to add offences constituting contempt of court to regional law and add flexibility to the sentences available to presiding judges.

1. The clause does not mention former Secretaries and Prime Ministers, only regional officers, admins, and moderators.
2. In my opinion, it should just be a separate law, as my intention was to give justices a little flexibility in dealing with violations of these provisions (for example, at least one of the clauses could be broken due to ignorance of the law), and as such, I don't wish for the punishments to be defined as they are in the Criminal Code. Beyond that, I just think it would be better to have a separate law for this.

I think I'm just going to add "unless absolutely necessary" in that clause, since we do need to make sure that no candidates are part of the electoral committee if it can be avoided.

The "as their sole intent" at the end of the clause makes it so that endorsements are not prohibited.

It is important to remember that environmental destruction is the direct result of capitalism. Where something can be transformed into capital, the rich will exploit it and strip it dry of its resources for maximal immediate gain. Its ironically natural within a system driven by profit before people and their social wellbeing.
Climate change, fuelled by the polluting industrialisation that lines the pockets of the rich, first and foremost hurts poor people, particularly in developing nations. We will not save the world by using recyclable coffee cups, rather we will save it when we realise that the economic system we live by is exploitative and inherently unfair.
As leftists, environmentalism must be a part of our movement. The ecosystems that sustain cultures and lifestyles are inherently valuable to the way all people across the world live their lives.

Completely agree with you. Except, I do think there is value in looking towards eco-friendly means of consumption wherever we can. Not as a full-stop of course. Capitalism is solely profit-driven and there will always be those who will curb the well-being of others for a quick buck. But if we can limit the waste we create, even by a small margin through band-aid solutions at first, I think it could go a long way and buy us time for long term and effective change. But yeah, I agree with you completely that as leftists we have an obligation to fight for the health of our planet and fight against capitalist imperialism that results in situations like Flint,Michigan where people are still living with lead in their water (this is absolutely inexcusable and needs to change YESTERDAY). I am by no means an expert so I'll leave the technical logistics regarding the transition to a green society to those who know far more than me about the issue.
To clarify, when I mentioned those band-aid solutions, I am in no way advocating centrist style "progress" where we achieve one small change and wait a decade before we do anything else lol. Just wanted to make that clear.
I agree, small steps won't save us in time.

As there seems to be no further discussion regarding a separate bill for electoral conduct, I will now put forth an amendment to the Criminal Offence Act to go with the Electoral Conduct Act, as Llo suggested:

The bill seeks to amend the Criminal Offence Act to remove certain sections to be inserted into the Electoral Conduct Act.

Hi all! It was time for an update yesterday, so here's one today. Happy Easter!
Forest April Update
.
Founder: Errinundera
WA Delegate: Ransium
Forest Keeper: Turbeaux
Deputy Forest Keeper: Lord Dominator
Foreign Affairs Minister: Ruinenlust
Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister: Verdant Haven
Voice of Forest: Uan aa Boa
Face of Forest: Mozworld
Roleplay Mentor: Caracasus
Forum and Discord Sower: Mount Seymour
Head Cartographer: Areulder
First off, Happy Easter to all of the lovely people playing Nationstates. Whether you’re religious or not, I think we can all agree that this is a great time of the year (until someone inevitably eats too many chocolate eggs and gets sick). Also, we made it to a second update! That means we now have a tradition!
As per the Forest Constitution, from March to April, we had an election season! That means we have a lot of changes to the government.
The election process started on the 16th of March, and we only had two candidates come forward: Turbeaux and Chan island. Both ran stellar campaigns, Turbeaux promising to increase non-WA nation involvement in government (dispatch linked at bottom), and Chan island offering tours of NSG. Turbeaux won, with a 27-8 lead on April 2, however I believe that Chan island would have had a better chance if it was tours of anywhere except NSG. Nonetheless, congratulations to Turbeaux on a well-deserved win!
When Turbeaux came into government, they brought a lot of changes with them. Firstly, we had Ruinenlust (Foreign Affairs Minister), Mount Seymour (Forum and Discord sower), Caracasus (Roleplay Mentor), and Areulder (Head Cartographer) returning to their positions. Welcome back all! Mozworld was also reappointed, but their role was changed from “WFE Editor” to “Face of Forest”, and they are now also partially responsible for making all future updates look good. After Chan island turned the position down, Lord Dominator became the Deputy Forest Keeper, and Verdant Haven became the Deputy Foreign Minister. On top of all that, Uan aa Boa replaced Yours Truly as Voice of Forest (more on that at the end), and Blon Gre hasn’t been reappointed to Statistics Officer, likely agreeing to do their work without a shiny badge. Very commendable of you, Blon Gre. Thank you for your service!
And that about sums up our election season. Congrats once again to Turbeaux, and to all the ministers, old and new. I look forward to seeing what the next six months bring!
In the past few months, we’ve had few changes when it comes to embassies, probably due to election season taking up so much of everyone’s time. But, we did have an embassy open with Pacifica on February the 20th, following a 13-7 vote. I’m very excited about our future with them, seeing as they are such a vibrant and active region! We also opened embassies with Osiris on April the 17th, following a 26-18 vote in favor, and despite them being a sinker, I can be sure a lively and upbeat partnership will result in this embassy.
On a sadder tone, we also had an embassy closure with The LCRUA, due to an incident on discord, and some disagreements stemming from it. I can’t recap it here in an unbiased way, nor a way that wouldn’t fill my telegrams with hate, so I’ll leave it at that.
Well, while our regular Forest contest season ended, we still had a very exciting event in junction with The Rejected Realms! Dead i jack and Turbeaux put on a story-writing event, Journey Through the Woods! It was a great time, and I got to take part in some story writing, something I don’t get to do often. More information can be found in the dispatch below.
Right, to end this update, I’d like to address one of the changes in government noted above. I am no longer the Voice of Forest, and this will be the last dispatch I write (unless I get reappointed later, of course). I would like to make clear that this was because I stepped down, due to upcoming personal commitments that will render me without internet for a few months. I enjoyed every second of serving on the government of Forest, and I hope I may get the opportunity to do so again in the future. There are no hard feelings between me and anyone on the Forest government, and I am very excited to pass the baton off to Uan aa Boa, seeing as they basically made these updates a thing in the first place. Speaking of which, Uan aa Boa sent me the following as their introduction:
“I'm the previous Forest Keeper but I first started doing updates in the summer of 2016 when it was part of the role of Forest Affairs minister. I'd like to see updates that look professional but for that I'm definitely going to have to draw on the design and IT skills of other people in Forest. Since we don't have much going on in the way of regional politics I'd like to showcase some of the good stuff we do produce by including creative writing, short essays or other interesting content from some of the very talented people we have in the region.”
Very noble goals, Uan aa Boa, and I wish you luck.
Well, that’s all for this update. If you have any concerns about this update, TG me and I’ll get back to you, and any suggestions should be sent to Uan aa Boa. Thank you to all the people of Forest for letting me serve the community in this way, and to all of the people who make Nationstates such a great place!
Cheers,
-Canaltia
