The United Soviet Union of Communism (USUC), is a worldwide alliance of all communist nations in Elparia headed by its founder New russia the 3, and May has seen the pact has add a fifth member to its ranks - New Trimainia. Immediately after this declaration, Imperialist treka condemned the annexation as a threat to world peace and national sovereignty, cut diplomatic ties with New Russia and threw out their ambassador. Vaillantb also condemned the communists and began engaging in military exercises in collaboration with other allies. In response, New Russia the 3 invaded Trekan waters and imposed a blockade on a quarter of the ports in the Sea of Kings, Treka’s largest area of maritime trade. This was backed up with large naval patrol groups stationed in the Gallican Ocean under the flag of The new soviet supremacy.
“We can handle this diplomatically, or we will force you out of our waters”, demanded Imperialist Treka in response to the naval incursion. Alarmed at the naval exercises of the communists less than a continent away, the normally peaceful nation of The cavian state declared full support for the Trekans, citing “inexcusable actions” of the USUC. What followed was an interesting set of propaganda and flexing of military might done by each side. Nations of the communist alliance declared that a “ready and full” mobilization of all forces had been reached, three grandiose military parades and exhibitions were held in the span of under a month, and new military technologies were reportedly being deployed. Vaillantb continued its rapid military development, showcasing stealth fighters and demonstrating its missile technologies, while Imperialist treka took a gamble with the Sea of Kings blockade - using its air force to fly within a mile of the New Russian ships and break the sound barrier, causing disturbances for crew and a quarter-hour long shutdown of communications on some smaller ships.
After constantly one upping each other to the brink of war, the first E1 summit in Greyhawk, Alltoria was due; a gathering of all the world’s leaders to decide on the New Trimainian conflict and the Sea of Kings blockade, attended by Tsakistan, Corusconia, Vaillantb, New ireland the 5th, New russia the 3, Imperialist treka, Arirean, Ubizieten, and Alltoria. During the conference, Vaillantb agreed to further military cooperation with Corusconia, who publicly intended to neutralize the situation, however could not be heard over some of the delegate’s constant threats, stubbornness, and bragging about their military prowesses. Arerian intended to force the delegates to reach a resolution by creating an international team of peacekeepers, however this proposal was rejected and the Arerian representative left in disgust. Shortly afterwards the attendees from the USUC left without a word.
The meeting was a mess - worse still is that none of the civilian issues had been addressed, including Vaillantb commercial flight 3-UI which was gunned down on its way to Holocron of revan while passing over the blockade of the Sea of Kings, killing 200 travelers. An attempt at peace was made by The cavian state and Imperialist treka to cease aggressive actions and return the ambassador to the embassy, however these possibilities were drowned by the sinking of Trekan cruise liner Kitty Liner by USUC ships, killing 3000 passengers and crew aboard.
In response to the sinking of the Kitty Liner, Fahrani President Mohammed Sabbagh demanded, “... the immediate lifting of the blockade, the payment of seventy million in indemnities to the families of those murdered … [and] upwards of two billion in indemnities to Crown Petroleum Corp. for revenues lost”. Nations of the USUC alliance declined to respond, but the blockade was lifted later on.
But after a brief period of peace, the USUC are gearing up for war with Treka and its allies after demanding Chuukango’s assimilation into the United Soviet Union of Communism. Although it is too early in the conflict to say for sure, it appears that all the individual blockades and skirmishes over the last few months are leading up to a final showdown over Chuukango that will decide the fate of Elparia.

For years the nation of Vaillantb was considered isolationist, backwater, and quite simply unimportant. But the nation made worldwide headlines in May when it declared the end of its “Golden Isolation” policy, which for ten years had barred international trade, relations, and communication with the outside world. As the policy took its toll on the development of the nation’s economy and technology, it was clear to Vaillantb’s President Eric W. Kaplan that change was required to repair the nation’s stagnating progress, as he stated how it was ”vital for Vaillantb's interests to open up again its contacts with the neighboring nations”, the nation couldn’t “build skyscrapers without building foundations, and strong relations with our neighbors are the necessary foundations our prosperity needs".
Congress and a large voting majority supported the changes as a new liberal government was ushered in- with the effects of the change soon becoming obvious. The autophage-rocket shook the aeronautics world soon after its announcement by Vaillantbian scientists. The military received large upgrades by the way of improved armor and a new stealth fighter model. Vaillantb’s shift to nuclear power was met with advancements in cheaper fuel and safer methods of storing waste.
In response to growing tensions between New Russia and Treka, Vaillantb beefed up its military further, unveiling new technologies including a modernised machine-gun and improved long-range intercontinental missile.
However, questions have been raised as to the government’s attitude toward the improvement of more internal affairs. The infrastructure sector has gone relatively unchanged, as well as educational reforms and transportation improvements that the administration has promised citizens. Trade has also reached a low point, with any large scale trade besides that of interest to the military practically non-existent.
The Congress has also been relatively uninvolved in the legislative process. Exploring the heavens has always been a dream among all peoples, and at the cusp of summer, that passion for adventure has been blossoming into its full force and color. It all began with The cavian state launching their very first module for a space station, the CSS-1, aboard the King Roger I Rocket from the foothills of the CASP launch center. Development of the first long-term space station and production of the first module had cost in excess of 2 billion Porciis over the course of seven years prior to launch. The Cavian Aerospace Program hopes that the station will be a, “great chance to show Cavian craftsmanship”, highlighting “the immense scientific value it brings”. Experiments will include testing the capabilities of new combined guinea pig / human life support systems to enable CASP to more easily engage with the space programs of the rest of the world, although more experiments are expected to be officially published within the coming months of the spacecraft’s 15 year mission.
The astronauts manning the station will consist of 5 Cavians, including veteran mission captain Roy Charleton, and 3 Volitopians with 2 seats still open. The inclusion of so many non-Cavians to the space station is not only a matter of shared skills, but also training and long term collaboration. The Cavians hope that by training Volitopian astronauts to maintain all aspects of a space station, they will be able to kickstart massive space station programs of their own and share in the bounty of scientific research.
Observing a rising interest in space exploration, Imperialist trekan Chancellor Camden Hanscombe pushed for an increase in funding for the Imperial Trekan Space Fleet shortly after the launch of the CSS-1. Although Treka is a nation heavily reliant on its military, the Chancellor hopes to tone such militarism down for the scientific exploration of the final frontier, along with calls to create an international space station between all spacefaring nations. However with armies massing around Chuukango and the nation itself at stake, such aspirations are to be put on hold until the military crisis abates.
The nation of Vaillantb, in its tiger approach to development seen since the end of their Golden Isolation, launched its first rocket in early June with the collaboration of their Corusconian allies. The Yurta rocket performed successfully in ferrying its satellite to the orbiting altitude, however a failure in what is believed to be the final stage of the rocket saw the SVL-1 satellite jettison at the wrong time, losing orbit and rendering it useless. The Vaillantb Space Department still terms this mission a “partial success”, as the rocket successfully escaped the atmosphere.
The VbSD is also considering implementing an “autophage” rocket that would consume parts of itself for supplementary fuel and thus require less resources to produce. Because of clear dangers to human crew, the design will only be considered for sending Vaillantb’s planned constellation of satellites. Preliminary tests have already proved its stability in flight and adequate capabilities in-flight, and its overall design efficiency is surprising.
This is just the start for space exploration, as new horizons are uncovered, and the glory of the universe is uncovered bit by bit. Cavians, Volitopians, Vaillantbains, Corusconians, and Trekans continue to move to greater heights, as the heavens are explored, trekked through, and observed, all in the name of science.

The EISO Summer Olympics officially concluded this June as the nearly month-long celebration of sports and the region of Elparia in general came to an end. Starting Monday, May 14th, events as varied as 100-meter sprint to equestrian events to three-kilo swimming encaptured crowds on sofas and in town-square watching parties alike.
The final standings saw Fahran, who bagged copious amounts of medals in women’s events, top the tables with 38 total medals, four more than second place, with 14 gold medals to boot. Trailing close behind- Imperialist treka with 34m (officially referred to as Treka-Conland in the standings), grabbing medals across the board, mostly under team sports. New russia the 3 earned 33 medals and Arirean, with 32, earned itself 16 gold medals, the most of any nation at the games. To round off the top five would be Corusconia with 30 total medals.
In sixth would be giants The cavian state, earning medals in varied events, with 24 total. Rophilus, with a peak position of second on the third day, slumped to seventh with 23. Volitopia with 18 medals finished in ninth, with Holocron of revan taking tenth with 15 medals. In 13th and 16th place finished Too too and Lowersia respectively. Giants Chuukango underperformed despite fielding a powerhouse delegation, settling in 22nd earning just three medals. With a single medal in the cabinet- New Trimainia, a bronze in Athletics.
With the EISO done and dry, focus shifts back to another premiere sporting event- the Elparian Club Football League. Play will resume hopefully this August. As Oscar Palace top the standings, with a surprise Volgaskaya FC in second, Arirean giants Paisley follow behind in third place in a heated race for playoff spots.

Gameplay News

Over three months ago, Elparian polls closed around the region to signal the official ratification of the new Elparian Constitution. With a backbone piece of legislation off the region’s to-do list, focus shifted to Elparian elections for government.
The first place up for grabs was the coveted seat of Prime Minister. Rophilus announced his intention to run first, with United amerikana, the now-exiled Tsakistan, and Creda also announcing their candidacy. Only Rophilus and a newcomer to the race, Imperialist treka, seemed to commit to the idea of running, both publishing their platforms. While Rophilus promised for judges to be elected, rather than appointed, expanding the Poll Officer’s duties, as well as extend Elparia’s NationStates outreach by opening new embassies, Treka promised to ally with larger regions like Lily for regional protection, creating a regional army for Raiding and Defending (R/D), as well as forming a Minister of Roleplay to oversee regional roleplaying and prevent godmodding. Rophilus had served as judge in Elparia, while Imperialist treka could cite his vast political experience in his previous region, Rossferry. Treka was criticised by many due to an alleged long-standing personality prone to flaming, many Elparian citizens favored his proposed reforms.
On Election Day, Treka ascended to the Prime Minister position, implementing his promised policies straight away. Three judiciaries were appointed- Chuukango as Head Judiciary, Volitopia, and runner-up Rophilus. Chuukango later resigned, with Volitopia taking his spot as Head Judiciary and The cavian state taking the vacant seat.
Weeks into the new government, Cabinet members got down to serious work. Fahran, as new Minister of Defence, raided region after region without fail in cooperation with new allies in Lily. Holocron of revan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, successfully completed an initial renovation of the embassy system, as well as revisiting all current embassies to check if their respective regions met embassy requirements. Alltoria as Minister of Polls continued to entertain the region with public polling. The region seemed to enter a golden age of productivity and activity.
Key legislation including the Elparian Background Check, Citizenship process and Penal Code, all under the name of the Elparian Security Initiative, were brought into place after intense work from the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Official referendums gave citizens the right to form political organizations, and Rophilus, as Judge, pushed for one of his main election promises, namely the election of judges, which passed.
After a month of work, Alltoria stepped down from Poll Minister duties due to real-life obligations. The nation of Neo-georgiria was welcomed as a replacement.
Two months into an eventful government cycle, a voting fraud charge was raised. The cavian state officially found Romani loquimini ad plagam as a puppet who had voted in a recent legislative tiebreaker. This puppet was tracked back to a nation who had joined Elparia through a recent merger with the United Soviet Union of Communism (USUC), The new soviet supremacy. Prime Minister Treka took the case to court, where he was indicted on counts of voter fraud and flaming. As per the Penal Codes, the Judiciary handed NSS a six-day ban, as well as permanently ejecting his puppet and nullifying the tiebreaker.
The tiebreaker was to decide legislation allowing government officers to take leaves of absences in the summer months due to real-life summer break obligations. After the first poll resulted in a tie, with the subsequent tiebreaker nullified due to the voting fraud scandal, large government names including Imperialist treka and Fahran opposed the legislation, as it could seriously negatively impact the region’s activity and government work. The legislation in the following tiebreaker was soundly defeated 6 votes to 2.
Most recently, Imperialist treka attempted to induce a referendum repealing the Judge Election legislation, citing the lack of power the Prime Minister now held. This was firmly opposed by all three judges. Treka responded by asserting that the opinions given were invalid, as judges could only reject such proposals due to conflicts with the Constitution and Penal Code. Eventually, the legislation was dropped, and both sides made amends from the flaming that has taken place prior.
The current government has undoubtedly changed the face of Elparia and its legislature, bringing about appearance and legislation becoming of a large and powerful region.

Before May 23rd, the Elparian military functionally did not exist. Elparia was a member of Lily and there were people recruited as privates in the army, but no raids had been done, not even basic practices. That changed when in late April, the raiders of YEET CLAN raided fellow Lily member Association of the Countries of the Free (ASCOF). Lily defenders soon restored it, but the brief occupation gave Minister of Defense Fahran a chance to make something of her long-inert department. Before major update, she got together Essotori, Holocron of revan, Volitopia, and Aquias, and successfully took and later refounded Yeet Clan Puppet Region in retaliation. It was a minor victory, but an inspiring one for our armed forces.
After continued offensives on YEET CLAN’s other regional territories, they sat down to diplomatically end hostilities, and Fahran was able to secure a peace. They agreed to no longer raid Elparian allies or Lily signatories, made an attempt to become Lily members (although reports conflict as to the extent of their efforts to do so), and a minor raiding partnership between the two regions opened up for a few raids. However activity in the region has slowed to a halt in recent months, and the overly spammy nature of its residents over discord became a problem no longer worth dealing with, and ties have since slowly withered away.
But the military was far from idle during that time. Just a day after the first raid, another region, Akamatsu, reached out to the military to ask for assistance in raiding one of their rivals, and on May 24th, the Bavarian Empire was captured with the combined forces of Elparia and Akamatsu. It was later removed from existence. May 25th saw the hoisting of the Elparian banner over the region of American West - formerly controlled by fascists, Minister of Defense Fahran envisioned the construction of a region that would celebrate the flora, fauna, and many peoples of the Rocky Mountains and the western seaboard regions of the United States. The project never came to fruition and the region CTE'd, but hopes of rebuilding regions from the ashes would come to define long-term occupations by the Elparian cavaliers.
Four raids and ten days later, after a failed liberation of Lebanon, the Elparian army would occupy the region of Akamatsu, an action which would create a three days diplomatic fallout between the two regions before a trial would be held and a treaty made to resolve the crisis (Read about it here).
On June 21st, after a bit of a lull in military activity after dealing with a rouge raider group, Fahran wanted to make sure the army didn’t lose the discipline they had built up over the past month and decided to take a warzone region, a special game-created region where all bans by the WA Delegate expire after a brief period and there is no regional password - basically playing grounds for endless capture the flag games on NS. She chose the target of Warzone Africa, and the cavaliers successfully took the region.
Expecting this to be no more than a practice raid that would sooner or later be taken by some other raiders, command was surprised to find a genuine, if small community of people who enjoyed staying in the warzone and had called it their home. Fahran decided to open friendly relations with the natives, and an embassy was opened with Elparia, with Hong kaong, de-facto leader of the region, acting as diplomatic representative. The Minister of Defense agreed to support an elected government of the natives of Warzone Africa and agreed protect its sovereignty as often as they could. “Thanks to our friends at Elparia!”, the envoy and leader of the region proclaimed after Elparia removed another band of raiders from the region on July 21st.
About a week before the most recent liberation of WZ Africa, Elparia’s old friends at ASCOF were re-liberated once again and were henceforth placed under temporary protection by the Elparian military after consent from the population while the native government could take time to rebuild itself from a chaotic summer of foreign invasion.
Elparia’s military has grown not only into a force capable of projecting influence abroad and standing in solidarity with our allies, but also as a vessel to defend the defenseless, and to give a more stable future for communities previously without one.

In early June following a series of mostly successful raids, the Elparian military took and held the region of Akamatsu for one day. The Elparian government soon erupted with Akamatsu demanding an explanation and retribution. To this day, a clear motive or purpose for the raid is yet to be established, although the Prime Minister would later claim responsibility during the following rial.
The negotiations were arduous, but on June 9th Minister of Defense Fahran was able to hammer out the Elparia-Akamatsu Treaty of Perpetual Cooperation, which set standards for civility between the regions and outlined a plan for a military partnership. As part of reconciliation, Imperialist treka agreed to be held on trial by the President of Akamatsu on charges of flame and abuse of powers during the crisis. Then-Head Judiciary Chuukango presided over the case in the Elparian Courthouse. The trial would be over in half an hour, as it was deemed the evidence the Prime Minister presented was too petty for any action to be taken, and the evidence Akamatsu's President presented was severely lacking in volume and context.
A week later and after the replacement of the Head Judiciary with Volitopia, the new Head Judge would ask the President if they wished to reopen the case based on his post-trial complaint that he had no time. The leader of Akamatsu would answer in the affirmative, but would fail to respond after multiple attempts at contact, and the case would be dropped. Less than a month later, Imperialist treka and Akamatsu had a diplomatic falling-out, and both regions mutually agreed to abandon the treaty and cease contact.
At the backdrop of a diplomatic crisis with Akamatsu, Elparia would manage to bump into the crosshairs of a rogue raiding group by the name of The Communist Potatoes, who spammed the Elparian RMB the same day the Elparian-Akamatsu treaty was ratified, in retaliation for restoring native control to ASCOF some time earlier. With the Akamatsu crisis resolved, the Elparian cavaliers would begin to target Communist Potato controlled regions to expand their policy of liberation and do justice to the attackers.
England, ASCOF, and others would see Communist Potatoes removed from their region one by one, with victory in sight after just a few more raids - but then Tsakistan (aka Vacatio on discord), joined the Communist Potatoes. Vacatio was previously a military commander in the Elparian army, but once he gained his position, he slacked off and failed to command his force on raids, while his own men coordinated better than he did. The Prime Minister demanded his removal from the military, but Fahran chose to give him another chance, which he summarily failed on, and he was banned from the region after joining the Potatoes.
With a former Elparian military member in the raiding group, they acted more boldly, launching two more spam ping attacks on the Elparian discord server over the course of the summer. On June 16th, the order came from on high; “I want you to find every Communist Potatoes region and slaughter it”. And so the military carried out the Prime Minister’s directive. The attacks of the rouge raider group has since died down, with no Elparian-targeted activities for over a month save a discord spamming on the 5th of August, which has since prompted Minister of the Interior New ducklands to rework and install newer security measures on the regional discord server.
Despite the massive blunder with Akamatsu, this summer has given a baptism of fire to the regional military, showing its capacity to work with the foreign affairs ministry in crisis and remove threats to the region of Elparia.

Creativity

The beginning of summer has seen an explosion of Elparian cinema with the introduction of the delightful work of Addams nation, who in partnership with Holocron of revan have created the story of a Revanian exchange student at Cemetery Ridge University who goes through studies, friendship, and drama based off the cast of the real-life play Addams Family. Their work is numerous, and certain to enrapture - it all can be found below from May to July.

In other theatrical news, Antillica, creator of the Princess Antonia play, promised to come back to life sometime during the summer (although it appears they’ve ceased to exist) and begin regular installments of season two, and in the meantime has put out the first season finale of the play.

With some of the freer time brought about by the advent of summer, several nations have taken care to detail unique aspects of their nations. Aquias has developed a few banknotes, a passport, and several credit card formats for his nation. Masimau has begun developing the geographical and administrative divisions of his nation, Imperialist treka has taken a swing at license plate design, and The cavian state has made an extensive effort in worldbuilding his nation, from biographies to an anthem to city descriptions. On a region wide scale, the Minister of the Interior recently proposed the setting of the clock back to the 1930’s and to steadily move it forward every week to give time for nations to develop a regional role playing history and encourage nation building. The idea has proved quite popular and is expected to be implemented just around the time a brand new geographic map is released.
The shininess of all the linked creations and plans for historical RP are driving some to interest themselves with the mechanisms of their nations, and will hopefully lead to fresh worldbuilding in the coming weeks.
