You know, it maybe Memorial Day weekend, but I’m sure people will be responsible and largely remain home out of the interest of themselves and their fellow citiz-

This country is f*cked, just absolutely f*cked.

It’s going to be interesting reading about all the stuff that’s happening now in a history book ten or twenty years down the road. Then I can complain about “That’s not what really happened” or “That’s not how things went”, like my grandpa does now

The past few months have also further pushed me towards the idea of getting out of dodge and moving to someplace like New Zealand or Germany. Or maybe Svalbard; they essentially only require you to have a passport to move there (mainly because it’s a frozen hellscape that not too many people are eager to move to).

I figured the Wellington area would be nice, considering it's the middle city and isn't in nearly the amount of demand that Auckland is. Of course, Christchurch is bound to be cheaper considering it's in a flat plain, but it's the only city on the South Island and there isn't much else there besides vineyards, rural drugs, Christian cults, their air charter businesses, and jaw-dropping levels of natural beauty.

earthquakes ain't new sh*t at all. this is Canadian-Australian Hawaii 2. if I only have to worry about fires that are on the adjacent hellcontinent and not in my own backyard and that marijuana isn't legal yet and other problems minute in comparison to the Titanicnation I'm jumping off of, I will accept the Atlantic ocean lifeboat fully (which is actually the Pacific but the metaphor)

i also have nearby internet friends made corporeal if this happens hey y'all and all that

Consider getting a job in Antarctica?

The debris created by carving the faces of the 4 American presidents into the side of a mountain on sacred land granted to the Lakota "forever" was never removed.

If that doesn't f*cking say something, you can call me black and suffocate me to death.

p.s. so much for promised land, eh?

I think the easiest country for me to immigrate to would actually be Spain. My grandmother is Spanish and my mother was born in Seville, so I probably have a simpler path to getting citizenship than I otherwise would. Alternatively I could try to get in through the program for the descendants of exiled Jews. Either way, I could get citizenship and then move to somewhere else in the EU.

It’s also both kind of crazy and scary that we’re not even halfway through the year and all this sh*t has already gone down (Covid, Hong Kong protests, threats of a Third World War, current American protests, Australia on fire, and a bunch of other stuff in missing). Really makes you wonder what else the year has in store. At this rate I wouldn’t even be entirely surprised if the great California/Cascadia quake finally happens and we lose the west coast. Or one of those lost nuclear weapons blows

Or what if the... great... uh, Texas Stratovolcano beneath, um, San Antonio goes off and Texas is kill?

yeah

you forgot San Andreas but also what if the Great Yeehaw occurs and everyone in texas becomes a revolver wearing a 10 gallon hat
WHAT THEN

(I'm just trying not to win the disaster race, buckaroo)

to be fair, take away COVID-19 and the year has pretty much been normal
sure a lot of bad things happened, but a lot of bad things always happen
that is the nature of living in a world that is both bigger than ever before and more interconnected than ever before
having the world confined for a global pandemic is, however, an unusual event, so 2020 still sucks

pretty sure the Great Yeehaw only happens once every ten thousand years and we are about a thousand years short of reaching that interval
