0cala's "Liberate Alterante" Proposal Rejected by the Security Council

The Security Council has rejected 0cala's proposal to liberate Alterante (co-authored by Improper Classifications) by a large margin on Wednesday, after 4 days of voting, heated arguments, and new developments in Alterante that rendered the proposal unnecessary.

THE SECURITY COUNCIL ─ 0cala's "Liberate Alterante" proposal, co-authored by Improper Classifications, failed to pass through the Security Council on Wednesday, with the final tally being 7,603 Against vs. 5,002 For. The rejection came after days of intense disputes over the author's public conduct and behaviours towards fellow Security Council members, the creation of another competing resolution by Waterfall State, and the successful liberation of Alterante from The Eternal Order occupiers by the military of Sparkalia which made the proposal redundant.

On Tuesday, September 12th, 0cala posted her draft proposal to liberate the tiny region of Alterante in the Security Council forum, written with the help of co-author Improper Classifications. Their goal was to strike down the passworded barrier to entry to the region - imposed by TEO occupiers - in order to enable anti-fascist forces to move in, seize the WA delegacy from the raiders, and return Alterante to its rightful natives, thus depriving TEO of a trophy region.

Despite earning the support of an Alterante native We forgot how to run a good society and several anti-fascist delegates, the proposal was met with strong opposition from others who did not believe the region is influential enough to warrant a liberation, nor that TEO is fascist as the proposal claimed. Suspicions quickly arose that 0cala was merely "badge hunting": rushing to pass a proposal as quickly as possible, no matter how poorly-written it is, to earn an SC author badge. The Delegate-Elect of 10000 Islands brought up 0cala's use of ChatGPT in a past proposal and stated that the latter "is not someone who I want to reward with an authorship".

In response to criticisms of the proposal and demands for evidence, 0cala failed to respond in a good-faith manner, choosing instead to insult and disparage her opposition, further inflaming tensions. Bhang Bhang Duc, (in)famous among the SC community for his liberal use of "badge hunt" accusations towards new authors, added fuel to the fire by responding negatively with snarky and hostile comments, suggesting 0cala to "get out of the kitchen" if she "can't stand the heat". After much haranguing, 0cala managed to produce some screenshots showing North Bulgaristan - the Scribe of TEO - to have made fascist comments on Discord and has the word "Honourable Fascist Tsardom" in his name.

Nevertheless, the screenshots were deemed insufficient to prove the entire region of TEO is fascist, and the quarrel between 0cala and the opposition continued. Sometime later, co-author Improper Classifications, a former "citizen admin" of TEO itself, published a dispatch with additional details about the return of North Bulgaristan to TEO and his open fascist and transphobic comments. Reventus Koth further compiled strong evidence proving that TEO is harbouring open fascists and giving them regional government positions.

In the midst of these arguments, on Saturday, September 16th, a competing proposal by Waterfall State was posted in the forum, prompting criticisms from 0cala and several others of "badge hunting" and "stealing 0cala's badge", though it earned support from 0cala's opponents. The proposal was withdrawn following the successful liberation of Alterante by Sparkalia's military.

In spite of the evidence presented, when 0cala's proposal entered the voting floor on September 23rd, the vast majority of delegates from the large regions voted against it. The biggest block of opposition was comprised of 4 out of 5 Pacific regional delegates: The North Pacific, The South Pacific, The West Pacific, and The Pacific, with the exception of the delegate from The East Pacific who voted For. Predictably, 10000 Islands also voted Against due to opposition from its Delegate-Elect. It was widely speculated that the majority of the Against votes constituted opposition to the author personally and not the proposal.

On the other side, 0cala's proposal was defended by a number of nations (including the author of this article himself) who argued that while 0cala's behaviour was improper and unhelpful, liberating a region from fascist invaders was far more important. Some highlighted the highly toxic and gatekeeping culture of NS Gameplay and expressed their disgust at delegates voting against a proposal simply because they dislike a new author. 0cala herself also explained that she used ChatGPT because she had trouble reading and writing properly, and she was sleep-deprived while replying to Bhang Bhang Duc.

On September 24th, the second day of the vote, Alterante was liberated from TEO by the military of Sparkalia, which effectively rendered the proposal meaningless. Angeloid Astraea, member of the Trinity Command of the Sparkling Army, stated the next day:

Speaking in my capacity as a member of the Trinity Command of the Sparkling Army, the military of Sparkalia plans to transfer custody of Alterante. We have not altered the region's history, put up our flag, tagged the WFE, or anything of that nature. We will not do anything of that nature between now and the eventual transfer of the region. The Sparkling Army is willing to liberate victims of fascist militaries and strike against fascist militaries without using any gains there-in for our own raider entertainment.

Subsequently, 0cala advised WA nations to switch their votes to Against as "this proposal has no use anyways!" In the end, she was banned for 3 days from the forums for spamming, and the proposal was rejected by the Security Council. As of 7:05 AM UTC, September 27th, 2023, I can confirm that Alterante has been handed over to the natives, with We forgot how to run a good society returning as the WA Delegate of the region.
