I understand, like I said i originally used it as a terrarium so all I really needed was the space, less variables needed than an actual aquarium. I feel like if I get it right and make sure everything is good then it should be alright, I tend to micromanage stuff like this so I think I should be fine, if it fails I might downsize though.

It operates almost all aircraft that support the army. With the dissolution of conscription in Domanania, the 3rd Air Group was disbanded, releasing the T8 Light Fighter from combat service, maintaining a few platforms for training.


History

The air force was split off from the Doman Army in 1990, assuming command over almost all army air forces, with the army only maintaining a pair of helicopter squadrons.

The air force has tried to maintain a fleet of advanced aircraft, always pushing for more advanced systems. The air force has acquired 5th generation aircraft recently, being the first platform to enter the air force's service. Additional stealth platforms are planned to be acquired, along with advanced 4.5 gen aircraft.

in 2023, elements from the air force were re-integrated back into the army to form the Army Air Command. This included 93 mixed role helicopters. The air force protested this decision, and has ordered more aircraft to fill its ranks.

Current Operational Status

The FSDAF is designed to protect the country from land based installations, and fend off aircraft and naval vessels. As of 2022, the air force is interested in projecting power by air to a majority of the Mesder seas, using a combination of long range weapons, refueling platforms, and unmanned aircraft. Currently the air force employs 22,500 personnel, with ~15,800 personnel in active service and 6,700 in reserve with around 5,000 civilian personnel. The airforce operates 7 air groups and 273 aircraft, as well as air-borne infantry specialized in combat search and rescue.

Sure! I don't have much about our major cities posted yet other than their populations, but: Portland is the biggest (imagine NYC), New Hartha is giant and dope but northern and cold (imagine Chicago), Petna is kind of a post-prime oil city, Littolica is the former capital, Aelex City has a major shipbuilding industry, Alpina is like Switzerland... that should be enough to choose from.

For us, Ghan Pokhara and Khani look dope.

The Caelius Dynamics VT-10 is an Alteran multi-mission, tiltrotor military

The Caelius Dynamics VT-10 Series is an is a twin-engined tiltrotor VTOL aircraft with a configuration similar to that of the VT-12 and VT-15 tilt rotor aircraft. It is capable of landing vertically like a helicopter while having a range and speed in excess of conventional rotorcraft. The VT-10 is aimed at the military aviation market - namely as a replacement for attack and reconnaisance helicopters - but also the civil aviation market, in particular VIP customers, intra-city aerial transport and offshore oil and gas operators.

The aircraft's purpose is to take off and land vertically, but fly faster than a helicopter. Although many nations would continue to utilise standard helicopters, several nations - including the Alteran Republics and Serpens Land - would push forward the development and introduction of tilt-rotor aircraft. The Alteran Defense Forces is one of a few militaries in the region that fully utilise tilt-rotor aircraft; acknowledge that the expense and maintenance costs outway the potential and practicality of tilt-rotors.

Design


The Caelius Dynamics VT-10 is a tiltrotor aircraft capable of performing vertical landings whereas conventional fixed-wing aircraft cannot, allowing the type to serve locations such as heliports or very small airports, while possessing twice the speed and the range of any available helicopter. Caelius Dynamics promotes the type as "...combining the benefits of a helicopter and a fixed-wing aircraft into one aircraft". The VT-10 appears to be outwardly similar to the civil orientated VT-12 as well as the military-orientated VT-15; however, the three aircraft share few components. Unlike the VT-15, the VT-10 has a pressurised cabin. As of 2013, multiple cabin configurations have been developed, including a standard nine-passenger layout, a six-to-seven-passenger VIP/executive cabin, and a search and rescue model featuring a hoist/basket and four single seats; medevac and patrol/surveillance-orientated variants have also been proposed. Light attack roles have also been developed, with both internal and external weapon racks and bays, as well as an Airborne Early Warning variant with a roof-mounted radar. For increased passenger comfort, the cabin is both pressurised and equipped with soundproofing. Access to the cabin is via a 35-inch-wide (89 cm), two-piece clamshell door centre-set into the fuselage underneath the wings, similar to the VT-12. Some designs have an alternative single door on the right-hand side of the aircraft; visibly seen in the prototypes.

The VT-10 is powered by a pair of Oakoms Accord OT.230 turboshaft engines, which each drive a three-bladed prop rotor. These engines possess roughly twice the horsepower of the similarly sized helicopter. Both of the engine and prop rotor pairs are mounted on a load-bearing rotatable pylon at the wing's ends, allowing the prop rotors to be positioned at various angles. In helicopter mode, the prop rotors can be positioned between a 75- and 95-degree angle from the horizontal, with 87 degrees being the typical selection for hovering vertically. In aeroplane mode, the prop rotors are rotated forward and locked in position at a zero-degree angle, spinning at 84% RPM. The flight control software reportedly handles much of the complexity of the transitioning between helicopter and aeroplane modes; automated systems also serve to guide pilots to the correct tilt angle and airspeed settings.

When flying in aeroplane mode, the majority of lift is produced by the VT-10's wings, which are slightly forward-swept. Both the wing and the main fuselage are made largely of composite materials. The 34-foot-long (10 m) wings feature flaperon control surfaces which are normally automatically controlled; in vertical flight, the flaperons drop to a 66-degree downwards angle to reduce the wing area being encountered by downwash from the prop rotors. A high-mounted rudderless vertical stabiliser is attached to the rear of the fuselage to stabilise flight while in aircraft mode. In the event of a single-engine failure, either engine can provide power to both prop rotors via a drive shaft; the VT-10 is also capable of autorotation. The VT-10 has been designed to develop Full Transport Category/Class 1 performance to operate safely even when flown under single-engine conditions. It is equipped with a de-icing system and is to be certified for flying into known icing conditions. Building on experiences with the VT-12 and VT-15, the VT-10 is retro-actively outfitted with a sink rate warning system.

Avionics include a triple-redundant digital fly-by-wire flight control system, a head-up display system, and Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC). The cockpit has been designed so that the VT-10 can be flown by a single pilot in instrument flight rules conditions. Several of the aircraft's controls, such as blade pitch, are designed to resemble and function as their counterparts on conventional rotorcraft, enabling helicopter pilots to transition to the type more easily. Elements of the aircraft's controls feature touchscreen interfaces. Shortly following the introduction to SLAe Systems and Wilcox-Ayers Aerospace to the programme in 20, substantial modernisation of the VT-10's design was initiated in 2012; these changes included new engines and the redesigning of the cockpit. As part of the design refresh, new flight management systems, SLAe Systems inertial and GPS navigation systems, and various other avionics from Alteran Aerospace and Oakoms Aerospace were adopted.

As of 2013, multiple cabin configurations have been developed, including a standard twenty-four passenger layout (in a seated configuration), a thirty-six paratrooper configuration, and a search and rescue model featuring a hoist/basket and four single seats; medevac and maritime patrol/surveillance-orientated variants have also been proposed. Light attack roles have also been proposed - but were dropped due to the VT-10 fulfilling the role, with an Airborne Early Warning variant with a roof-mounted radar developed instead. Access to the cabin is through a rear loading door, whilst access to the cockpit is through either an internal door into the cabin or an external door located on the side of the aircraft.

The VT-15 is powered by a pair of Oakoms Accord OT.430 turboshaft engines, which each drive a three-bladed prop rotor. These engines possess roughly twice the horsepower of the similarly sized helicopter. Both of the engine and prop rotor pairs are mounted on a load-bearing rotatable pylon at the wing's ends, allowing the prop rotors to be positioned at various angles. In helicopter mode, the prop rotors can be positioned between a 75- and 95-degree angle from the horizontal, with 87 degrees being the typical selection for hovering vertically. In aeroplane mode, the prop rotors are rotated forward and locked in position at a zero-degree angle, spinning at 84% RPM. The flight control software reportedly handles much of the complexity of the transitioning between helicopter and aeroplane modes; automated systems also serve to guide pilots to the correct tilt angle and airspeed settings.

When flying in aeroplane mode, the majority of lift is produced by the VT-15's wings, which are slightly forward-swept. Both the wing and the main fuselage are made largely of composite materials. The 45-foot-long (14 m) wings feature flaperon control surfaces which are normally automatically controlled; in vertical flight, the flaperons drop to a 66-degree downwards angle to reduce the wing area being encountered by downwash from the prop rotors. A high-mounted rudderless vertical stabiliser is attached TO the rear of the fuselage to stabilise flight while in aircraft mode. In the event of a single-engine failure, either engine can provide power to both prop rotors via a drive shaft; the VT-10 is also capable of autorotation. The VT-10 has been designed to develop Full Transport Category/Class 1 performance to operate safely even when flown under single-engine conditions. It is equipped with a de-icing system and is to be certified for flying into known icing conditions. Building on experiences with the VT-12 and VT-10, the VT-15 is outfitted with a sink rate warning system as standard.

Avionics include a triple-redundant digital fly-by-wire flight control system, a head-up display system, and Full Authority Digital Engine Controls (FADEC). The cockpit has been designed so that the VT-15 can be flown by a single pilot in instrument flight rules conditions. Several of the aircraft's controls, such as blade pitch, are designed to resemble and function as their counterparts on conventional rotorcraft, enabling helicopter pilots to transition to the type more easily. Elements of the aircraft's controls feature touchscreen interfaces. Shortly following the introduction to SLAe Systems and Wilcox-Ayers Aerospace to the programme in 20, substantial modernisation of the VT-10's design was initiated in 2012; these changes included new engines and the redesigning of the cockpit. As part of the design refresh, new flight management systems, inertial and GPS navigation systems, and various other avionics from Alteran Aerospace and Oakoms Aerospace were adopted.

During the development of the VT-10 and VT-15 series, Caelius Dynamics began to explore alternative applications for their tilt-rotor technology. As many militaries voiced interest in utilizing more drones - especially nations with limited manpower reserves - Caelius Dynamics sunk significant development costs into a single scaled prototype. Upon viewing the demonstration in 2015, the Alteran Self Defence Force green-lit the project; seeing much potential within its armed forces.

The VT-21 series uses tiltrotors to take off vertically and transition to high-speed forward flight, enabling performance unachievable with just rotorcraft or fixed-wing aircraft. It leverages technologies which Caelius Dynamics previously utilized for the VT-10 and VT-15 for the Future Vertical Lift program, and the VT-18, another smaller unmanned tiltrotor developed in 2008. The aircraft is capable of performing a variety of missions including electronic warfare, persistent fire support, airborne early warning (AEW), and resupply. Caelius Dynamics is particularly interested in the Alteran Maritime Defence Force – Unmanned Expeditionary Capabilities (AMUXC - pronounced "a-mux") concept to perform the tasks of support and attack aircraft while operating from amphibious assault ships to complement and escort the VT-10 and VT-15.

Whilst the A.M.D.F. are beginning to receive units from Caelius Dynamics, the units won't be fully "theatre capable" until early 2025; though the Council for Defense is adamant that ships equipped with VT-21s would "capable of deployment ... within weeks of delivery".

Design


The Caelius Dynamics VT-21 requires a two-man aircraft team, giving the aircraft capability to provide 24/7 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) over a given area - with minimal requirements for manpower. Although the aircraft is unmanned, it currently is not capable of complete autonomous control; autonomy is given only to core flight controls and waypoint following. Caelius Dynamics is working with co-developer Kinetic Sciences and Applications for a fully autonomous design, which could operate for remote strikes or work as a drone "wingman" alongside other A.S.D.F. aircraft. Whilst KSA has made some success with smaller scale drones using the "Wingman" concept, the company forecasts it won't be implemented in combat-ready drones until 2023 at the earliest.

The VT-21 is designed to weigh 16,000 lb (7,300 kg) empty and carry 13,000 lb (5,900 kg) of fuel, weapons, and sensors for a maximum gross weight of 29,000 lb (13,000 kg). While the VT-10 and VT-15 use two engines located within the tiltrotor pylons, the VT-21 will have a single-engine housed in the fuselage generating 5,000-6,000 shp (3,670-4,410 kW), about as much as the VT-10's engines. The power from the engine is then translated to the mechanisms within the wing. The design uses tiltrotors to take off vertically and transition to high-speed forward flight, enabling performance unachievable with just rotorcraft or fixed-wing aircraft.

Unlike the VT-10 and VT-15, the VT-21 has a V-shaped tail and one long wing piece mated to the top of the fuselage as well as retractable tricycle landing gear. This design feature came from the post-production design studies of the VT-15 - as engineers toyed with the idea of a different style of tail. To enable size compatibility with most modern naval vessels, the wing and rotors swivel along the fuselage, helping to reduce the aircraft's footprint; two folded up VT-21s can fit inside one Oakoms O.364 transport aircraft.

The aircraft has a cruise speed of 250 knots (290 mph; 460 km/h), a top speed of 300 knots (350 mph; 560 km/h), and a service ceiling of 25,000 ft (7,600 m), with a combat radius of 450 nautical miles (520 mi; 830 km) and time-on-station of 11–15 hours while carrying a 600 lb (270 kg) payload. Combat range is set to 1,400 nmi (1,600 mi; 2,600 km) for 17 hours on internal fuel, and it has the capability for aerial refuelling as well as carrying external fuel tanks. The aircraft can support an internal mission payload of 2,000 lb (910 kg) and can sling-load 9,000 lb (4,100 kg). The VT-21 is equipped with three internal payload bays, a centerline payload, and the capability to house up to two underwing pylons per side for various payloads including additional fuel, radar systems, LiDAR modules, sonobuoys, JAMM/JAMM-ER air-to-air missiles, LAMBS and Black Orchid.
