The english peoples union

John F. Kennedy approaches congress, eager to tell why the declaration of war with Japan is necessary. He enters the Capitol Building and tells everyone good evening before giving the speech. He says:

"Senators and Representatives must understand that the Japanese are not our friends and are our enemies. They took our land, spilled American blood, and have been a threat to us since 1947! The way. I see it,the Japanese are a threat to the West and everyone they border. Their nationalism has wreaked havoc on their parts of the world and we must liberate the occupied subjects in their evil empire! The Japanese have never been our friend. They only used us for our weapons and resources. Therefore,i believe a need for war is necessary for preserving our way of life, and our friendships with our other pacific allies."

John F. Kennedy then stops his speech and gets the opinions of other senators. After getting their opinions he leaves and awaits the verdict from Congress.

Spain joins the new Mediterranean Entente!

ABC News presents breaking news! (brought to you by Francisco Franco and the Catholic National Church)

April 4th, 1963. 1345. Moncloa Palace, Capital City of Madrid, The Spanish State.

The state media press have gathered in front of the Moncloa Palace, the official government building of the Spanish State, anxious and awaiting the news of the final decision of the national government, largely governed by Francisco Franco. It has been 4 hours since their official statement to the matter of invitation to the union. A press release with the aid of the National Catholic Church was due over a minute ago…

"It's been a solid minute..." The leader of the press conference grumbled frustratingly.

The palace doors finally creak open. The press table, owned by ABC News, stands firm to await its big announcement to the eager press and to address all of the peoples of Spain. Three silhouettes reveal to be the great leader and three of his other appointed and esteemed members within his leadership. They slowly walk to stand with their readied speech at hand. Franco finally positions himself behind the stand and speaks.

"I, Francisco Franco." He said proudly with a pumped up chest. "Along with my members of my administration, Franco the 8th of the national movement government, will soon announce the ideal choice for a grand change of our nation-state. However, it is unprecedented that we explain to all of you why this is an important matter at our very hands. Despite our quarrels about the idea of a greater union with our mediterranean brothers and sisters. Despite our quarrels for a greater spanish authority. In my mind. This... Treaty. This... Opportunity. Cannot be swept under the rug."

He looks around to see the reactions of the press, contemplating upon the surprise and shock of his fellow countrymen. Eyeing his cabinet members with a glimpse of fortitude and passive conformity. Franco's eyes readjust to the press and continued his speech.

"In all of our best efforts. We have encountered and faced every ordeal laid upon the clear straight path ahead of us. Whether that path may be battered to the ground with conflict, whether that path may lay an intrusive edifice of political tensions, whether it may be the unfair conditions to which downgraded the power and might of our Spanish State. To some it may not be the exact solution, but again, what we have of this moment. What is placed in front of us on our table, would make, or potentially break Spain… In my best solemn duty, as supreme leader of our country. In my very best judgement&."
He took a deep breath, ready to face the challenges ahead. "We have finally agreed to join the Mediterranean Union, as a fully-fledged nation-state member."

1400. Villa of the Minister of War. Outskirts of Madrid.

The Minister of War, currently in his villa, watches the breaking news provided by ABC. Surprised at the disposition his country had taken to said matter. Continuing to stare and observe further his leader's speech.

"My reasons along with the input of the national government, who support this proposal, are absolute." The television scratches.
"This Union will not only grant Spain an open door to economic growth and prosperity, but form an initiative towards a new age of international cooperation. Something Spain perpetually needs to maintain neutrality against the ever changing political landscape. We have all concluded the location of the negotiations and the official treaty signing be hosted in the Hellenic Republic in the capital city of Athens."

Alonso grumbles. Wavered at his disappointment of the speech. The television broadcasts the speech again.

"With that said. We move to our next proposal this following year. The approval and diplomatic negotiations with Germany regarding this matter have turned to successful fruition, the nation-states have all agreed to sign a temporary alliance with Spain, till a permanent resolution has been established. Meanwhile, talks with Germany will also be proposed. To further bolster our industrial economy and military defenses, these important talks would grant both respective countries bilateral agreements to meet each other's interests and goals."

"New resolutions to build embassies and consulates in each nation will also be prioritized to ensure improved relations. Such a list includes, the Greater German Reich, Kingdom of Hungary, Republic of Turkey, Hellenic Greek Republic, Republic of Northern Macedonia, and the Kingdom of Romania, all due to begin operations and planning in the next month."

Alonso turns off his television and quickly gets up from his chair. Opening the doors to his balcony, lighting a cigarette for his daily ritual for reducing stress.

"Are you okay sir?" His housemaid interrupts.
"It's finally time that we changed our ways of life Paula."
"What do you mean by that sir?"
He sighs. Blowing a wisp of smoke deep beneath his lungs.
"Now we're completely reliant on other nations. In a few months, the national government is about to begin talks with the German Reich about possibly establishing multinational tech companies within Spain. Where is Spain. My country being dragged down? A path of humiliation? A path of hope? I can't quite see it anymore..." He exhales another round of smoke from his nose. "Hopefully, we'll be able to develop Spain into its own powerhouse that everyone may need to rely upon."
"It all requires time and effort to see... Uhh sir."
"It may very well be." He smirked.

Republican December

The winter has begun to settle in the northwest. Snow peaked hills, ice covered water, and soldiers in position. Guns in their arms, they are joined by the Ma Republican Choir singing and praising the republican ideals and portraits of SunYat-Sen. Songs of victory and anti-communism are sung with heavy hearts. The great offensive against the Communists must be achieved! But the snow does not get any thinner but instead thicker. In the distance they hear the strong wind, the cold gets colder but they worry not, for through the righteous fight and glorious leadership they will win them the battle. The mission was simple: take the hills and encircle the enemy. Commanded by Ma Bufang’s son, Ma Jiyuan, the troops of the 82nd Army are proud of their importance and command. Finally the choir goes away and the troops return to an offensive position. They wait for the artillery’s fire to break the silence. The wind has briefly stopped blowing so fiercely and then the shot is fired. Screaming on top of their lungs ‘’Wéi mǎ guó!’’ (‘’For the Ma Country!’’), they rush down the hills and positions.

Gunfire echoes across the lands and valleys. The sounds of war and winter combine into a frightful musical of death and the treacherous winter wind. The battle hardened Ma and Communists however lost their fear a long time ago. The two opposing armies knew their lands like they knew their families. The Machine guns fire while the grenades explode and the Ma are forced to take cover in the white snow. The Ma was not expecting such a fierce fight, nor did the communists. The Ma could not wait any longer, a charge was the only way to continue on. If they don't then they’ll become target practice to the Communist’s Machine guns. With faces covered in snow, They once again charged. many men would fall turning the winter snow red with blood. Charging with their bayonets they jump into the communist held positions in the hill valleys. Fierce fighting with bayonets flying through the wind into the enemies bodies. Pistols and swords are taken out. Pain and death are heard as they echo far beyond the valleys. Blood is shed covering the soldiers with blood of their comrades and enemies. The white snow and red blood combine into a pink mess as they clash. Brothers, fathers and friends are lost as they disappear into the snow. Not a single body would be retrieved or taken out of the snow. At last the Communists retreated from their valley positions allowing the Ma to send in reinforcements. The gunfire goes silent for a moment as the soldiers mourn their comrades who have since long been lost in the snow. The positions were taken and the offensive could continue but the cost of lives and the trauma of the battles would sink deep into the soldiers minds.

‘’Battle cry many new ghosts
Worry and grieve alone old man
Disorder cloud low dusk
Rapid snow dance return wind
Gourd ladle discard cup without green
Stove remain fire like red
Many place news broken
Worry sit straight book empty

After the battle, many new ghosts cry,
The solitary old man worries and grieves.
Ragged clouds are low amid the dusk,
Snow dances quickly in the whirling wind.
The ladle's cast aside, the cup not green,
The stove still looks as if a fiery red.
To many places, communications are broken,
I sit, but cannot read my books for grief.’’

-Dr Fu, Facing Snow 756.

Encirclement

The initial battles had been won, although at the cost of many lives. Nonetheless the Ma Army fights on. Having taken the city of Longnan, the northern Salient had been cut off. The communists however did not give up so easily. Fighting furiously and taking every opportunity they could get to either escape or sabotage the enemy, the communists would make themselves known as fierce defenders to the Ma officers. Due to the encirclement having become a fortification for the communists, the Ma army decided instead of wasting ammunition and supplies to kill them, they will instead commit to a war of attrition.

‘’They will surrender under the weight of their attrition and the fire from our artillery.’’
-Ma Jiyuan

The Artillery fire was almost daily with artillery barrages lasting up to 1 or 2 hours. The non stop firing caused many communists to face the horrors of PTSD from the sheer amount of artillery fire and explosions. But to the Ma artillerymen they saw it as revenge for their comrades who had fallen. Eventually the Communists soldiers couldn’t take it and surrendered a week before new year.

New years

Soldiers, POWs and officers from both sides would face a depressing Lunar New Year. Freezing and far away from their families, they knew they wouldn’t be home in time to see their families by the 21st of January. Private Ma Xishan, a soldier in the Ma army who had survived the initial battles, writes:

‘’If only this war could be paused like a game of Go. If only we could set aside our differences, lay down our guns and return home to our loved ones. However war is war until it ends. And right now, this war seems like it will not end soon.’’

Joint-Session of Congress votes on war resolution

The Senate Minority Leader, John V. Tunney, says "My fellow Congressman and women, we must listen to the President when he says Japan is a threat to our nation. I know some on the right see Japan as a friend, they have every right to, but that should end. The Japanese nation ravaged us and took advantage of us for too long! I urge you all to join me."

With that, the republicans scoffed at the speech. You could see them talk among each other until the Speaker of the House rose to the podium to speak. The Speaker said "I agree with the Senate Minority Leader. We must defend our nation and I invite my fellow Republican colleagues to get behind this resolution and pass it." With that, the Senate Majority Leader was put on the spot n ended up supporting it as well. After the vote, the war resolution passed both chambers of Congress.

I say that we mace a comic book on this. It'll be exciting and everyone would be wearing John Tunney costumes with rocket launcher watches for Halloween. Of course we'll replace the rocket launchers with water blasters for safety reasons.

Japan to Arms!

Kuniaki Koiso, the 83 year old prime minister of Japan listens solemnly to the television in his office - surrounded by his advisors. His facial expression is one of displeasurement - a war he had hoped could be avoided by diplomacy. Unfortunately for him - John F. Kennedy did not learn the lessons of the invasion of the CSA. The Axis held strong there, but his greatest fear was to fight a war against the Americans. The potential destruction it posed to Japan, at least in its colonies would have untold affects - if the USA was not quelled.

The room, filled with officials of the War Cabinet sat silent. One of his advisors, his trade minister proposed simply signing off several territories to appease the Americans. However, Koiso reacted quite violently to this - as did the other senior members of his war cabinet. "Japan does not surrender! Japan will stand in the face of the American monster! We will die for every inch of ground, of sand, of water they try to take that is by the might of our Emperor - our land! Land that does not belong to the traitorous American white man! If we surrender they will exploit us, and the sacrifices of many young Japanese men will be on your hands!"

The trade minister retracted his statement, and sat back down. The rest of the room applauded, while they sat back down to watch the Declaration of War unfold.

In the next five hours, Koiso had enacted several executive Emperor Orders. The Japanese Armed Forced had been placed on immediate stand by, and drafting was to be placed in effect immediately on the onset of war. The Imperial Japanese Navy, at Hawaii, Midway, and several other bases were immediately mobilized for combat. At sunset in Imperial Japan, news arrived that the Americans had officially declared war on Japan.

"If the Americans want a fight - we will give them a death sentence!"

U.S. Congress passes Resolution prohibiting the selling of Alaska

The Congress of the United States has passed a joint resolution to prohibit the selling of the State of Alaska. Congress also demands that the USSR apologizes for their interests in attaining said State. We are the United States of America and Alaska is not for sale. The US Representative from Alaska praised the resolutions passing as a show of force.

Joint Statement
The Majority Leader of the US Senate and Speaker of the House released a joint statement today detailing how they oppose any and all declarations of war for time being, with exception if US was attacked. In the statement they said, "We believe that the best course of action for the United States is diplomatic while we build and maintain an adequate defensive capability."

U.S. Senate passes Resolution
After threatening responses from the USSR, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution to advise the President to send nukes to Alaska and use those said nukes on USSR if attacked. This was met with bipartisan approval and is a warning to the USSR not to mess with the United States in defending it's homeland.

Carnival 1963

It is well known that Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay have been close for nearly a century today. The senate's of all three nations have brought the nations closer together with a trade deal, the deal lowers operating, shipping, and trading costs to each nation by 2% starting at the beginning of the next year.

A formal alliance between the nations which entails a mutual defense pact as well as reduced costs to buying arms for members of the Alliance. Proposal for open borders is still in the negotiation process however in the future it may come to the table at another time once the alliance has matured more. Perhaps in the future the alliance will look for other south american nations to join. The new alliance block calls itself the ABUP, the official signing of the documents is set for the beginning of next month.

Relations have never been better for the three nations, the Brazilian people celebrated in their own way as they prepared for the largest celebration in Brazil. Carnival which was a time of family, song, and dance was coming and the people's spirits were high. With the announcement of ABUP the people themed some decorations off of the flags of the three nations with some flare to it. On the day of the celebrations many business except for restaurants and bars were closed and all day the streets were filled with people celebrating or playing football (soccer). As evening fell strings of lights were out and the Carnival parades began with the sound of drums and car horns honking. A great roar rose from the gathered as the parade procession marched down the main road in Rio.
From Brasilia President Silva addressed the nation.

"Amigos and Amigas our nation is a shining example of unity. The world as it stands now is in tatters and we've never been on the brink of destruction this close before...but take heart my friends we will stand tall at the end...we will be ready to help rebuild the world when the larger powers have sundered it...we know all to well there can be no gains without sacrifice….and we have sacrificed much more than most…" President Silva paused briefly for effect while he sipped some water before continuing. "But that has not broken our spirit! Or our resolve! tonight we celebrate unity with two of our closest allies and we have made new allies as well beyond our borders to the north across the caribbean sea. Amigos and Amigas our Ally in North America needs our help. I see in them the very fire that burned in us all those years ago when we threw off the yolk of imperialisms!"

The crowd was silent for a moment and then an older soldier in uniform shouted "nenhum ganho sem sacrifício!" And another and another joined in until the entire area was shouting in unison. As the crowd reached a near deafening crescendo Silva raised his arms as if encouraging them to shout louder.

Silva then raised his fist and echoed their shout "nenhum ganho sem sacrifício!" He yelled back this only seemed to insight more fervor among the crowd.

Eventually they settled again and Silva returned to his speech. "They want to be a nation of their own! And yet! And yet! They are put down upon as rebels...scum of the earth for daring to do what their forefathers dared do when they fought their revolution! We are one and the same…"Silva iterated "There are some differences...but we are the same in motives..Freedom! Freedom to live in their own nation ! Free from their oppressors! Let us aid them in this fight Amigos and Amigas! Let us help them attain the freedom we hold so dear!"

Again the crowd cheered and some of the CSA officers sent the previous month came forward to acknowledge the people of Brazil. President Silva turned to the commanding officer of the men present.

"You are among friends here sir…" Silva remarked as he passed by. "Enjoy the food." Silva then left the podium he had been speaking at and went inside. As he walked the halls to his office to recover after the rousing speech he smiled a broad grin and as he entered his office he looked to the men and women gathered.

"Ah minha familia how wonderful to see you…" Silva smiled broader shaking the hand of a man in a black suit. "How was the flight from Rio how's business?"

"Business is good we are bringing in more profit by the day." The woman in the skirt and white blouse said watching Silva cross the room to his desk.

"That is good...the people are quite happy it seems...long as my personal business stays out the people will follow.." Silva said as he sat down.

The four others turned toward him a chubby man with a full beard spoke up next. "We have silenced or bought off anyone who would expose you."

Silva nodded. "Well then, let's to business…"

Response to war…

The stage is set and conflict has now risen anew in the shape of another possible world war against two great superpowers. International news media, along with ABC news now broadcasts the tense situation of the conflict.

"As you can see, a response from the USSR Government has demanded its stake on its claims on the once Russian colony of Alaska, currently the State of Alaska, a valuable American sovereignty as a part of the whole United States. After the humiliating defeat of the United States against the Japanese Empire, the Congress had strengthen their resolve to push for greater defense of their homeland, thus as a part of that new found resolution,  completely passed its law, preventing the purchase of its own lands to foreign nations. But as time goes on. So does the hand of the Doomsday clock. Growing closer and closer to a potential, absolute mutual destruction…"

Franco immediately sends his diplomat, José Eugenio Fernandez, and his Minister of Foreign Affairs to address a statement to this new conflict.

They read. An official statement to the whole world.
"As a part of the larger union of the Mediterranean Entente, we wish to not condemn each of the superpowers that shape and balance our global policies and our overall life today. However, we also bid to said nations not to meet in mutual assured destruction. But to seek peace through fierce negotiations. Through understanding, not violence. Though my voice of reason much like everyone else's in this god forsaken world, may fall in deaf ears. It is clear that we still must take this next step forward for a greater cause in maintaining everyone's life. Everyone's right. And everyone's freedom to live prosperously in this world. Hear our cries and plea, for it may soon be our last."

Treaty of Taranto: 4 Year Anniversary
February 20th, 1959, This was the date when one of the most historic deals was signed in modern greek history — The Treaty of Taranto. Signed in the last days of The Hellenic Kingdom, it was known to the world as the deal that ended the italian influence in the war, but to the greeks, it was more than that, it was a symbol, a message, that their suffering was coming to an end, that their anxieties and fear were about to wash away, it was a message to the italian and greek populace that Greece will no longer bow down to its oppressors, that it would no longer be slave to any nation, that it was, from that point onwards, independent, to one population, it was an insult, an embarrassment, to another, it was a message which everyone stood in solidarity with, it was a message that they were finally free, sovereign.

At midnight on the 19th, fireworks lit up urban centers, while rural villages and hamlets partied in their small plazas, the merchant navy lit up the coasts. At the dawn of the 20th, the streets were bustling, the military organised parades that were orchestrated masterfully, the navy joined in formation, discharging their fire as the thunderous clap of the blast travelled along the air. And as the evening arrived, Prime Minister Alexios Pamagiotidis made this speech:

"It comes once again the day for which we celebrate, though we may choose to dance along our town squares, and shoot out fireworks that light up the night sky, I wish to remind you of the price we paid for sovereignty. Thousands of greek soldiers and civilians laid their lives for our liberation, many of us saw our loved ones die, others beared the pain for the entire 11 years of the war, others at the end when we thought that the war was won and we no longer needed to worry about our children, siblings, and spouses dying in the battlefield. I myself lost two of my sons, the first one in 1948, his name was Nikolaus, at that time I was 37 and he was but six years old. He was trapped in the crossfire during the Battle of Trikala, a bomb hit the building my family was in, as it crumbled, he dropped ten meters to the ground, immediately followed by a barrage of falling rubble, he was killed almost instantly, he was one of the first civilian casualties of the war.

My other son, my oldest one, died in 1957 during the Battle of Megara, he had enlisted in the military at eighteen, despite protests from multiple family members, I was one of the few who supported his decision, and it took me years to recover from the grief and the blame I took for letting him in the military in the first place, according from military records I received from General Spandidakis, he died in the southeastern regions of Megara, after the Megarian concentrated offensive there had failed, while retreating, he was pinned down by enemy forces on both sides, his squad attempted to make a run to a nearby building, however, while attempting their escape, they were gunned down by Machine Guns, killing all of them instantly.

I know many more suffered the loss of a loved one, but we were lucky to be alive, thousands more of us would have died if it wasn't for the heroic sacrifices of our fellow men and women on the ground, the private corporal, the sergeant, the lieutenant, the captain, those who chose to trade their lives for the safety of others, and by doing so, their stories of their stoicism and fortitude will be echoed for centuries, their names immortalised, together may we pray for those who died, and let us all show our appreciation for the fallen with solemnity later on in dusk, thank you."

On 11:30 P.M., electricity was momentarily cut off as a sign of respect for the fallen, in the population centers, as the city lights dimmed and the atmosphere grew tranquil, the sight of the milky way illuminated the night sky, light pollution had faded and stars took its place, people looked up to the galaxy and prayed to the constellations and star clouds that their fallen comrades were safe in the heavens above, others raised candle-lit vigils in a sign of solidarity, others simply admired the sky. Soon, the electricity turned back on, people returned back to their bedrooms and slept, others quietly cried as memories of their loved ones flashed back, but they did not fret due to sadness, they cried in pride, that their family members were so brave to stare death in the face and smiled at it, the day started jovial, and ended subdued, they had come a long way since the war, but everyone knew they still had a long way to go.

The hunt for the New Orleans
The CSA fleet left Norfolk and Pensacola this morning and is now sweeping the Atlantic in a search pattern. RL-12s take off from bases around the states, screaming eastbound. The skies of the atlantic are filled with Sea Kings, dipping sonar equipment into the sea.
Outside nations have no clue as to what's going on. But 2 submarines and their crews have gone missing.

These submarines are the newest tech to come out of the Confederation. Nuclear powered, they can be rigged to silent and make little to noise, they can hide among background ambience with no trace. Are they lost? Is this a test of their abilities? Have the captains gone rouge? Only the Task force knows.

**Sharks**
A Thrasher class submarine skimmed the sea floor at 1,000 feet. Her hull throbbed with the rythmn of her screws, the ship was rigged for standard running. Sonar man first class E. Humes then caught something.
Sonar, contact, bearing zero-tree-fife.
Sonar, contact, bearing zero-tree-fife light screws. Will ident.
The sound was alike something Humes had heard before, a trench class submarine, run by the Federalist forces. A cross-check confirmed it.
Sonar, contact bearing zero-tree-four identified, type Trench Class.

From there the order was given,
Conn, Rig for silent running.
The reports came from all stations, the Thrasher slowed down.
, conn, sonar, Stay on Target Trench Class.
Sonar, conn, Target Trench class is now bearing Zero-tree-four.
The Thrasher gave chase. The Federalist Trench class was cavitating heavily, making it no problem to slip behind the Contact.
Conn, sonar, firing solution, one-four-tree.
Sonar, conn, aye.
Sonar, conn, active sonar pulse twice.
The sonarman then released two active pulses, to confirm the location of the contact. This move told the Trench that an unknown contact had a firing solution.
Conn, sonar, Contact Trench, heavy screws, moving away.
Conn, all hands standard running.
Make turn previous course.
The conn officer took a note of location and type of the contact and the Thrasher slunk into the darkness

**Sharks pt2.**
CSS Yankee Doodle, a Thrasher Class Attack Submarine, silently glided off the pacific coast. She was on station outside of San Diego, recording Sonar Signatures of Federalist Ships.

A lone destroyer left the harbor on a patrol.

This ship was a Allen M. Sumner Class Destroyer, the USS Barton, she was a veteran of the second world war. On board was a crew of 338. This was this crews first patrol together, as the previous crew on the Barton was busted for unsafe procedures and spread across the fleet.

This crew had ambitions.

The Yankee Doodle, gave chase to the Barton, logging it's patrol route, and any ships it met along the way.

At 12:00 local time a lookout on the Barton believed to have spotted a periscope following aft. But the report was marked as a false report when the glistening seas concealed the scope.

At 14:00 local time the periscope was spotted again, and the Burton went into evasive. Zigzagging across the seas. The Yankee Doodle went into active search mode, it's surprise given up.
At 14:05 the Yankee Doodle surfaced aft of the Burton, the crew raising the grey Stars and Bars battle flag.

The Yankee Doodle turned south for San Diego, slowly sinking back into the ocean.

The Burton's Report joined a growing collection of submarine sightings, and scares between the CSA and the USA.

Gathering Storm

Lilian Lundberg sat at her kitchen table drinking coffee from a creme colored mug, watching the morning news. The reporters sat at the desk, reading off the headlines as the station cut to the weather report. The large map of the Göteborg area showed a snowstorm moving in from the northeast over the next three to four hours. The reporters had been predicting it for a few days,
but it seemed rather tame compared to storms of the previous few years. Lilian turned off her television and she walked off to get ready for the day.

Lilian closed the door behind her and looked at the sky. It had already began to grow grey as the storm was noticeably rolling in. She walked down the street to the train station and stood waiting for a train into Göteborg. The train rolled into the empty platform as something caught her eye. The first snowflake. She stuck out her finger as the flake gently landed on her soft skin and instantly melted. She slightly smiled and stepped onto the train.

The train was riding through the countryside as Lilian glanced over her shopping list once more, making sure she hadn’t forgotten to write anything down. Her eyes read over bread, coffee beans, tomatoes, lettuce, and various spices. She looked out the window and saw the snow begin to pile up as the city came into view.

She rushed through the lightly covered streets to the shop she frequented. As she slipped through the door, she noticed the shop empty except for the cashier. Lilian grabbed her items and placed them at the register.

“Trying to get home before the storm hits really hard?” the cashier asked.

“It isn’t going to be that bad isn’t it?” Lilian answered.

“Oh it’ll cover about 30 centimeters I heard.”

“Wow. It sounded much more tame on the news.”

“Yeah well I’d hurry home quick if you live outside of the city. Trains might be backed up because of the snow.”

“Will do,” Lilian said as she grabbed the paper bag with her shopping. She stepped back into the street and rushed to the train station. Its crowded halls already bustling with people trying to make it home before the storm, Lilian found an empty bench and slid back into the seat. She watched out the window as snow piled onto the tracks.

The train pulled into the station and passengers left their seats to board the train sitting on the platform outside. Lilian joined them in taking her seat on the crowded commuter train. It slowly rolled out of the station and onto the mainline. Snow continued to sprinkle down as the ground was now covered in at least 12 centimeters of it. Snow blowed up onto the windows from the train speeding down the tracks until it began to slow to a halt. Passengers stood confused as a conductor entered the car, telling of a tree across the line. Lilian sighed as she knew it would take at least an hour to clear the tracks let alone the snow that would build up in that time. She slouched back and closed her eyes, waiting for the moment the journey would resume.

BBC news, six o’clock. London.

Richard Baker begins to speak, Jingle plays

“Welcome to BBC news. I am Richard Baker speaking from London. On today's news:
- The new government of the UK has been announced after the victory of Joseph Kilian, from the “Stronger Britain” party.
- Fishermans worry about fishing in the channel with the german reich fishers on the other side
- UKSA announces budget augmentation in vague “future projects”

First off, we have the important internal news of the new cabinet. The Prime minister, newly elected, has done his visit to the Queen at Buckingham palace and announced his cabinet right after. We find some high key political members, such as Neal Richardson, Winthrop Pierce, and so on. After defeating Theresa May by an extra 3 percent, it seems that the new prime minister will focus on a mixed cabinet, and mostly experienced members. For now not much else has been released apart that the Prime minister has taken office at Downing street. It is, stated by the new residents of the building, “a new era for Britain and the UK”.
Political support has remained stable for the new PM as the conservatives, despite their loss, haven’t started being particularly opposed to the agenda of the SB party. A recap on the main focus for the term of Kilian is the reform of the foreign affairs, the changing of some key views and the focus on putting Britain ahead in the scientific domain such as space flight and technological advancement. We interviewed Orson Watkins, a specialist in the matter, about the situation.”

The specialist appears on camera, a reporter begins to ask questions

“Hello, and thank you for coming”

“No problem.”

“Now, first question. What do you think of the agenda of the new Prime minister?”

“Well, to be totally honest I think it is a risky agenda in these times. With the german reich and the growing tensions, it’s more of a risky gamble than anything else. But, it is something the country needs. Britain needs to re-affirm itself as a global power, and our vast empire should be exploited to that end.”

“ What about the tensions in the pacific? Do you think as one of the heads of NATO, Britain should take action? Will our new Prime Minister do anything?”

“As head of NATO, if the US will become attacked, then as part of NATO Britain will have to intervene. If it’s the other way round, then the UK would probably not intervene. The reform projects for the navy and army haven’t yet been finished so an immediate war would weaken us considerably. From previous statements, it seems that our new Prime Minister is trying to re-organise the armed forces to make ourselves prepared for any eventuality.”

“What about for other cases?”

“Well, the British foriegn policy has been pretty calm and isolationist these last years. We all remember the small engagement that happened in 1961, which could have had disastrous outcomes. However if the reform programs of the armed forces end up being a success it wouldn't surprise me if that changed brutally. All depends on how the reforms make it out, and how fast we can re-arm.”

“And Ireland?”

“ It seems Ireland has calmed down, but with what i know of Kilian has been on a stance of a more negotiation status. If tensions re-erupt, it is more likely he talks first than acts depending on the results of negotiations.”

“Thank you, mr Watkins”

“No problem”

Camera goes back to studio

“On other news, we also have the constant worry of fishermen in the channel about the neighbours. We explore more with Vivian Wolfe and Addison Byrd.”

Camera shows some fishermen in the ports of southern england, narration begins

“It was a long day for the fishermen of the small town of Bognor Regis. These fishermen work 10 hours a day on their small boats, fishing the numerous species of fish in the channel to supply the homeland. Though recently a small concern has been raised after a mishap with some French-German fishers on the other side over territorial fishing areas. Two fishing boats of each side spotted each other in the channel, and both disputed over who was in who’s waters. Luckily the incident was aborted thanks to a storm that forced both ships to take cover in their respective harbors. We managed to interview one of the fishermen on what happened that day.”

Camera switches to an interview with a 40 year old fisher Del Glover

“Sir, what exactly happened on the day?”

“Well it was a whole bloody affair. We set out at noon, not yet knowing a storm was on its way. We went out and began putting our nets, reeling in some fish. Then what do me and the lads see? A bloody frenchy ship only a few yards out fishing! So we came over and asked what the hell was going on and then an argument broke out. The storm came on us before we knew anything, but if i stayed a fight would’ve broken out.”

“What do you think should have been done?”

“I think that if the government actually gives a ******** about what we do then they should at least try working a border thing with the frenchies. 20 years of fishing and never been interrupted by another foreign ship, never!”

Back to narration

“A rally has been planned tomorrow to demand the government take action, but with such a recent election it is unsure if the prime minister will take this as a priority.”

Camera goes back to studio

“Thank you. We also have news on the UKSA, the United Kingdom Space agency has announced to have received more funds from the government in view of vague “future projects”. We dive in with Troy Fowler.”

Narration begins

“It came as indeed an unusual news for many british people. The UKSA, after a long moment of budget cuts and inactivity has seemingly re-awaken from its deep slumber. It is without a doubt the first actions of the new governments “increased scientific advancement” plan to propel Great Britain on the world stage of science and space exploration.
These budget cuts according to the agency will see an increase of at least 50% in all fundings of the agency. The decision has sparked controversy in parliament as some conservatives say it will dramatically aggravate the social crisis as the funds are needed elsewhere in the economy and in social networks. The minister of science, Kenneth Barlow, has stated that the funds have came as a condition: The agency begins recruiting more in all subjects to counter the amount of people without work. Still under critique the motion has passed in parliament and so here we are.
As for the projects, the agency has intentionally said that projects were underway in a vague manner. We speculate the advancement of the satellite infrastructure, but all remains unclear as the secrecy of the place has been kept high all the time, funding or not. We will most probably receive more news in the coming days.”

Camera switches to studio

“Thank you, Fowler. I think that will be all for today, thank you for tuning in too BBC news and until next time.”

The Treaty of Lecce

Today has been a historic day for the Balkans. The leaders of Italy and The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia met in the city of Leece, Italy to discuss the purchase of the region of Bačka. When Yugoslavia was split up, the region of Bačka was given to Croatia, Italy's puppet. However trouble started to oocur as soon as the Croatians started to arrive in the Bačka region. After a few months of struggles with the Croatians and Italians being in power in the majority Serbian and Hungarian region, the Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia stepped in to purchase the region from Croatia for $45 million lira.

As part of the Treaty, The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia is to start trading goods and food with Italy and Croatia. We also will be going around Bačka and offering every home full-citizenship to The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia. We wish to make the transition of power as seamless as possible, and as convient as possible for the citizens of Bačka, as we understand there are new settlers from Croatia proper and Italy that have moved into Bačka.

The Regent of The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia, Miklós Kállay had this to say about the exchange. "I am so thankful our neighbor was willing to listen to our case and has accepted the offer. I understand with the new nation of Lillenord being formed in southern Croatia, that this has substantially shrunken the nation of Croatia. This is partly for the reason of increased trade to Croatia as part of this Treaty, as I do not wish to cause any bad blood over this."

Croatia will be given two weeks to move out in cojunction with Hungary moving in, in a coordinated movement, and we offer citizenship and placement in the military for any soldier wanting to stay in Bačka, along with citizenship for any family that they have on site. After the two weeks, Bačka will become Semi-Autonomous and be given seats in the Diet, as we understand the Serbians hold the majority and we wish to let them have say in their region.

The Treaty of Thessaloniki

With Bačka in control of The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia, Hungary has wasted no time in starting talks with it's neighbors for business deals to recoop money spent on Bačka, however this Treaty is more to be considered an investment. The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia has offered The Megarian Hellenic Republic an undisclosed amount of money to acquire some land for an Hungarian Naval Base on the southern side of The Thermaic Gulf. We thank the Megarian Hellenic Republic for allowing us access to their waters.

The reason we have purchased the port is that wish to have a place to house naval ships to protect our own shipping, and to create further ties to the Megarian Hellenic Republic. Starting today as another part of the Treaty is that Hungary is suppling funds and equipment for an underground railway in Thessaloniki. This will connect the main railway station directly to the Thessaloniki Airport, and the new harbor complex.

Miklós Kállay had this to say about the exchange. "Today marks a great day for our two nations, Hungary is actively now supplying the Megarian Hellenic Republic and the Northern Macedonian Republic with stability through trade, and in return we get a proper sea port for Hungarian and Slovakian business to safety travel to. In Thessaloniki itself, we are going to work with the two republics to establish an Embassy Complex to further increase communications between our nations, along with building an underground railway to directly connect our new port to the rest of the rail networks. Even if Thessaloniki isn't Hungarian, we wish to support the city's growth as much as we can, through business and job creation, for Thessaloniki's growth will successfully impact and support our Kingdom."

Another part of the Treaty opened up provisions between The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia and the Megarian Hellenic Republic for further transportation efforts between the two.

Foreign Aid

The Kingdom of Hungary & Slovakia would also like to take the time to thank our neighbors within the Mediterranean Entente for helping us in our current state, with a few shake ups in the Balkans, there has been a bit of an refuge crisis, and most of the Mediterranean Entente has offered support during the time of need.

Joint Resolution
US Congress passed a joint resolution to reject the selling of go in away of anymore US land. Congress also warns CSA that any actions by them will be returned ten folds. On that note, Congress passed the GI Funding Act. This act will mandate for the military to be built up rapidly and all resources under US disposal to be used to accomplish that.

Somewhere in Britain, 2100 hours

The thundering of the jet engines is now a habit of the staff of the secret airfield. It’s been a few hours now that the scientists on site have been overviewing the tests of the new VTOL aircraft, the experimental Harrier.

A man enters the small building where the engineers overview the capabilities of the new prototype. Coming in he attracts the attention of several people. One comes up to him and welcomes him.

“Welcome general,” he begins before being interrupted by another conundrum of noise outside. The two wait for it to die out before continuing.

“Thank you, Mr Anderson. I have come to get an update on the prototype on behalf of the ministry of defense.” asks the general as he looks at the plans, curious.

“Please, call me Paige. And I am delighted to say we have been making enormous progress on the Harrier mark 0.6. We can now safely assure that the VTOL capabilities are fully operational and we can now move on to introducing the weapon systems.” replies the man. He takes out some files and passes them to the general.

“When do you expect the whole to be operational?”

“Ah, the ministry is in a hurry, I see. Well, being alone on this project and lacking funds-” begins the scientist before being interrupted by the general.

“Funds are not the problem, we will be able to provide you with more soon.”

“Excellent. Well in that case you can expect the operation to be finished in say 1969 or so.”

“Interesting. Have you been approached on the…. Other plans?”

“Yes indeed, I’ve been contacted. I can say that if the defense ministry wants to begin two projects like this at once we will need a partner.”

“What do you mean by that?” says the general, before being invited by the man into a private room to talk.

“Well, a partner nation for example. Brazil has some good scientists i heard, and the US would also be a partner of choice seeing they already supplied us before with Phantoms.”

“The US might be a little occupied by what it seems. We’ll need to be more independent if something…. Happens to them. However this project must be 100% British.”

“I understand, but than for the other project we will need more people”

“The ministry has authorized it already, just don't leak anything about this. We’ll begin talking with a suitable partner in a short time. In the meantime I trust you not to leak anything. Good luck mr And- Paige.”

“Understood sir. Good day.”

As the general walks out of the room, the man sighs and takes a cup of tea. He heads to the window as the Harrier begins going a few meters off the ground before landing back again.

Old Grudges

Saturday 15:34 EET

It was a pretty normal day in Romania, kids going to school, adults working tirelessly for their jobs and country and rallies being planned. Although the TV was expensive and limited in variety with most of the channels being state owned. Although it was a luxurious commodity it was a great entertainment and learning machine that became common in city households. As kids people began to watch the radio or Television as they have either got home or they are listening while at work, a sudden beep was heard and a loud voice was heard and it said...

''Attention, Romanians, hungarians and all of you out there, this is an emergency call for an important announcement for our country and our region.''

Then everything came to normal, but all the programs are gone, all but a single lone programme the national broadcasting service, TVR. Then the Prime Minister, President and King stood and reading a piece of paper that said.

All of my romanians, we and our friends and brethren are being threatened again by our rivals the USA and UK. As retaliation for our Confederate and Japanese friends we have decided we will mobilize the NATO stronghold of Bulgaria, reason being as not only we stand for not only the foreign countries sadly persecuted by these imperialists , but for our local friends and allies stand together for the safety of our region. Thank you all for listening. You may now return to your normal lives

The Broadcast abruptly ended and things returned to normal.

The english peoples union

Ohio

After being pushed back to the 126,Union Army tanks the M48 and M18 Hellcats quickly blitzed through to retake Cincinnati by going west on the Highway near Harrison quickly going to cut the supply route. Another army, the 85th Columbus Division was also there and quickly blitzed with their hellcats to the Ohio river in Cincinnati and took the city. Casualties for the Union were mediate, with only 5,000 out of the combined 90,000 force dying they then moved in to take out the other army surrounded.

D.C

After DC was surrounded, reserve forces pushed through to break the surrounding forces. With the Virginia volunteers dug in,they weren't expecting the 43rd Albany Division to come in and break their siege. In the meantime, the capital was moved to the provisional one.

Atlantik

After the blockade, artillery started to fire on the ships and evacuated all civilians. Thunderchiefs frequently bombed the ships, trading fellow pilots for the rebel ship crews below. The mines were an issue, preventing any surface ships from getting above, and preventing submarines from getting through without hindrances.

Iowa

After being pushed out of Osceola, reserve forces from nearby Indianola, specifically the 17th Iowa Division started to cut the rebels off from supplies in Missouri. Casualties remained high as Union soldiers adopted trench warfare to combat the flat land. Fire bombers bombed the advancing forces as well, using scorched earth tactics to push them out, which had seen some but not large success.

Illinois

After the forces in Springfield stopped and dug in,the 11th Springfield and 20th Gary took advantage and started to push them back. With artillery and planes covering their every movement, they were able to start pushing into north Missouri while forces in the south started to push to St. Louis. Casualties were also medium but higher in the north.

Kansas

Rebel forces stopped, and as they did in Missouri, they took advantage and pushed into Wichita. The 50th Wichita and 48th Saline divisions pushed into Wichita and recovered half the city, heavily fortifying it and setting up artillery and anti air guns across their front. In Topeka Union Forces struggled. They made some ground but had heavy casualties.

Texas

After the expected El Paso front failed, the union focused on north Texas and started pushing to Lubbock. Rebel defenses were high and flat plains forced the Union to dig in for trench warfare on the route 62 and 84.

Sky

In the clouds,FF-1s continued to fly over the Union forces but the Union had prepared anti-air defenses. The shot every day and every night trying to take down as many planes as they could, more days successful than others. Some AA were destroyed but were promptly replaced as forces from Nebraska pushed into Northwestern Missouri and started the battle of Rockport, and dug in trenches on behind the 29.

Good to be back lol
