Wait, what?!? Where is this coming from? I get this is a private entity, but was he reported or something? Or are you guys monitoring our forums here? Either way I feel Noxious Air was respectfully telling us his opinion as part of a wider discussion about current events. He is a respected member of our community. A Ban, even for 1 day, is extreme overkill.

Panther, do you know anything about this?

Dorig

He was only aware of the ban, but did not know about that rule.

The ban likely took into account the recent warning, last month or so, when they violated the pg-13 rule. That, combined with Max's instruction to take a stronger stance when dealing with covid misinformation, surely played a role. And, as Rongo said above, I actually wasn't aware that the new(ish) covid rule applied game-side, as well as forum-side.

I don't know how they saw it, though they obviously occasionally monitor things, given the previous warning. Mods are often active and involved members of the community, with numerous nations in various regions. Given this region being somewhat notable on the gameplay-stage, it's not surprising that someone keeps a puppet here. Heck, one raided us less than a year ago.

Today is the 235th anniversary of the founding of the Bavarian Illuminati. In honor of which...

Hit it, boys!

"It was 235 years ago today,
Adam Weishaupt taught the band to play,
They've been going in and out of style,
But they're guaranteed to cause denial.
So let me introduce to you
The band who's owned you all these years,
Adam Weishaupt's Starry Wisdom band!

HA...that is an anniversary I didn't know about. Weirdly, I happened to be on their wikipedia page today, so I suppose I honored the illustrious society.

What is that lyric from? Did you just "Weird Al" the lyrics for the Beatles' "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" to be about the Illuminati? If so, then well done.

Yes, it's original. I post it every May 1, changing the number of years.

For anyone here who is a fan of the Illuminatus! trilogy, of which I am one, I note that the 235th anniversary is an extremely important one, due to the presence of the sacred numbers 23 and 5 therein. Which is also why U-235 is so powerful.

I've been getting into old "Tiki Culture," recently. All that kitschy, faux-Polynesian stuff from the 1950s and '60s, kind of dying off around the '80s. I simply can't get enough. For anyone else interested, and because it fits our regional theme pretty spot-on, here are some photo collections and historical memorials:

History of Tiki in the United States
California's World's Fair in 1939 – the Golden Gate International Exposition – celebrated for the first time Polynesian culture in the United States. The theme of this fair was "Pageant of the Pacific" primarily showcasing the goods of nations bordering the Pacific Ocean. The theme was physically symbolized by "The Tower of the Sun" and a giant, 80-foot statue of Pacifica, goddess of the Pacific Ocean.

When American servicemen returned home from World War II, they brought with them stories and souvenirs from the South Pacific. James Michener won the 1948 Pulitzer Prize for his collection of short stories, Tales of the South Pacific, which in turn was the basis for South Pacific, the 1949 musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, also a Pulitzer Prize winner.

In addition to the returning WWII veterans, several other factors contributed to the mid-century American explosion in Polynesian pop culture or tiki culture. Post-war America saw the rise of the middle class as an economic force. This coupled with ever-increasing affordability of travel, particularly newly established air travel to Hawaii, helped to propel the nation's interest in all things tropical. The excitement surrounding the 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition helped to promote tiki culture. Hawaiian statehood in 1959 was a major factor which further drove the tropical lifestyle popularity, and Americans fell in love with their romanticized version of an exotic culture.

Extra, extra, read all about it!
Greetings from XKI! We're proud to present a special announcement regarding Chief Executive Markanite's resignation from his position, and his selection of Hakketomat as his successor. To view the full announcement, please follow the link below.

On Monday, April 3rd 2021, Chief Executive Markanite of 10000 Islands announced his decision to resign from his position, and pass the torch to Hakketomat. Hakketomat is a well-known figure in the region, having served as Executive Officer in TITO, Senior Senator, and Registrar-General, among other positions. Although we are sad to see Markanite go, he has made an excellent choice for his successor and XKI is excited to welcome Hakketomat into the position of Chief Executive.

The following is the statement of resignation and conferral from Markanite:

On the 17th February 2019, I was given one of the greatest honours in 10000 Islands and was asked by Woonsocket to serve as Chief Executive. I have loved serving in this role over the last two years but now I think it is time that I pass on the role to another.

2. The Chief Executive authority of 10000 Islands shall be vested in the Founder Nation, the United States of Grub. The Chief Executive shall hold Office for life, and shall be responsible for the conferral of the Chief Executive's authority to a successor of the Chief Executive's sole choosing.

So, as per Article 2 of the XKI Constitution, I am naming Hakketomat to be the next Chief Executive of the 10000 Islands. The transition will begin today with this announcement and I will work with to bring them up to speed on all the duties of the Chief Executive over the next few weeks. I will update everyone upon completion of the transition.

The first thing we will work on is administering the elections which begin tomorrow as normal.

I'd like to thank you all for your support, help and guidance whilst I navigated the challenges of the role. I hope that I have done you all proud. Being Chief Executive is not easy, and I know I've made some mistakes however I also hope I've done some good and helped the region. 10000 Islands has an extensive and amazing history, we have endured the test of time and will continue to thrive under the new Chief Executive.

I look forward to watching how the region evolves over the next few months and years. It has been an honour and a privilege. Thank you all.

Long live the 10000 Islands! Long live TITO! Long live Hakketomat!

Mark

As the transition process begins we wish Hakketomat the best of luck and express the deepest gratitude to Markanite for his dedication and service to the region.

In the recent ConkVision, an anti-good music alternative to the traditional ConchVision, who won was determined by who the voters felt provided the worst song. The winners were unusually tied. Those who won were Dyrland, Ienia (myself), & Kursibar. Here is the announcement post:

1. Ienia, Kursibar, and Dyrland . A three way tie, what a show!

3. Socialist Platypus
4. Charville
5. Nova Briton, and The Free City of Nelson
6. Liberto-Ancapistan
7. Kensaland
8. Aelandi

Welcome back ladies and gents to another version of the Vision series! Most you know the deal, but just for those new people out there I'll give ya a quick rundown of what it is. The Vision series is a time to put up your favorite songs, and put them in a spotlight to be judged by your fellow residents. New music to love will be found, and hearts will be broken as people find out their song isn't that popular! But this time, we will be doing a little twist on the original concept; why the title is called ConkVision too. This time, we are looking for the worst of the worst songs out there, ones that make your ears bleed and you kick your legs back in pain! So telegram the worst to me, or DM (RedTheFreak#0208) me on discord those awful awful embeds!

There will be a week of sending in a song of your choosing, so spend time thinking of how to torture your fellow residents!

The dispatch will be updated as songs are sent to me, so be sure to keep the dispatch in your peripheral vision!

Yeah, but there is little in our culture that's not wrapped up in some sort of questionable past. I choose to enjoy the silliness of it all regardless.
