Nah, it isn't. Neutrality is neat.

What I thought statistics in social science was: 60% of our informants like to watch cat videos if they earn a billion cents

What it actually is: What the hell does this script do and why is it so long?

Skalliad wrote:Rock is so much better! But still, I'll have an even heavier song... I hope to finish the dispatch today or tomorrow. Maybe even do a real song through neural network like St. Scarlett did

I was thinking of making a “real” song but AI I find is a pain to use. To generate the image of the band I used Adobe firefly but it still took multiple iterations, requires you to login, like you have to have an account for everything these days.

Skalliad wrote:I seem to be the only one at Eurovision who will not have pop-music, but something much heavier... Heh heh...

I'm doing Folk x Techno music

I’m back Europe! (That crash tho)

I've made a little mock-up of the official EuroVision artist pages for my NS EuroVision entry.

Volle

Born in Helligby, a small Norwegian speaking town in West St Scarlett, Volle experienced a difficult childhood with the loss of his father and oppressive anti-male laws under the Matriarchal government, despite this he has made his career all about spreading love and positivity to all and has become the most successful male artist in the country.

Volle's songs usually fall under the acoustic singer-songwriter genre, they tend to be soothing and sincere and always tell a heartfelt story about life. The artist writes and composes all his own music and is cautious when it comes to signing on to record labels as he believes music should always come from the heart and should never be about making a profit or topping the charts.

Despite his humble attitude Volle has consistently topped St Scarlett's charts, with his Eurovision entry Higher placing number one just hours after it was revealed to the world. His other hits include 'Violets', 'Misty Morning' and 'From the Heart' all of which reached number one on the charts in St Scarlett and also reached the top 10 internationally in the UK, US, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand, Irish, Dutch, Norwegian, Danish and Swedish charts.

As a result of his success Volle has quickly gathered a fanbase who love not only his music, but his honesty and his down to earth persona, as well as all the humanitarian work he does for organisations like Amnesty International, of which he is a member.

Lyrics of Higher

When I was young I thought life was an easy thing
I wasn't prepared for how much it could sting
When he was gone, everything changed for the worse

The light from my life was gone, nothing but shadows all around
All I could think of was him down deep in the ground
But there she was

Lifting me higher
So much higher
Every day
My mother's words still echo in my mind
Please don't worry child
Please don't give up
Focus on everything that lifts you higher

All around me the world began to fall apart
My friendships ended before they could even start
I felt so alone every day that passed

And at school my grades began to slip
My reputation as a good student began to flip
But there she was

Lifting me higher
So much higher
Every day
My mother's words still echo in my mind
Please don't worry child
Please don't give up
Focus on everything that lifts you higher

Higher
Lift me higher
Lift me higher
Ohhh
So much higher
Lift me higher
She lifts me so much higher
Higher

I know I'm not the only one who faces struggles every day
We all experience our own hardships in our different ways
You're not alone

But happiness is all we need to make the world brighter
Our greatest values will make the whole world lighter
Love and joy are always there

Lifting us higher
So much higher
Every day
My mother's words should echo in your mind
Please don't worry child
Please don't give up
Focus on everything that lifts you higher

Please don't worry child
Please don't give up
Focus on everything that lifts you higher

Scarlett here be expanding her everlasting commissionershipnessness to Eurovision smh

Do you want to win the third time in a row 🙄

It didn't go the way I wanted (no "AI" generated song and no cover art), but... It's done. Hello, Eurovision!

P.S. And just in case... If the song is unacceptable to someone, despite the good ending, that's part of the roleplay. That's the Skalliadians, and you can see it in everything, their mores, attitudes and values. Besides, it's also such a genre of music, where there are more brutal lyrics.

=====

The latest news: Skalliadian musicians will be participating in the NationStates Eurovision Song Contest (Thessaloniki 2024) for the first time:

Edward Milner performs his lastest song "Battle for the Future" together with his band "Hour X".

May 5, 2176

Today it was announced that the Skalliadian musicians will participate for the first time in the NationStates Eurovision Song Contest (Thessaloniki 2024), which should not be confused with the one they have been participating in for 149 years. Their only difference is that in the first contest there are representatives of countries from different universes of the Multiverse, while in the second contest there are only representatives of countries from our universe. Consequently, we will not describe the rules of the contest, as most Skalliadians should already be familiar with them, or you can find this information on the Internet.

The representatives of Skalliad this year will be the internationally recognized five-member band "Hour X", whose founder, lead vocalist and chief songwriter is Edward Milner. The band exclusively performs patriotic songs in the genres of "Neue Deutsche Härte" (a subgenre of rock music) and "Industrial Metal", performing them in both English and German. In the coming days, the band will travel to the city of Thessaloniki, located in Yahlia, the country that is the host of this year's contest, to prepare for it. In this regard, we managed to make a short interview with Edward Milner:

— Good afternoon, my name is Amanda Taylor and I'm a journalist who works for The Skallia Times. Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed!

— Hello, Amanda! My name is Edward Milner, though, you know who I am. Do you have any questions for me?

— Yeah, not many. And they're all simple. I know you don't have a lot of free time right now. So, first question. What song will you be performing at the contest, new or old?

— The "old" one, of course. It was released only 16 days ago, so according to the contest rules we can still perform it. You should already know that its name is "Battle for the Future".

— Tell me, what meaning is reflected in the lyrics of this song? Of course, apart from the fact that it is patriotic, like all your songs.

— The war between good and evil. Of course, we, in particular our Armed Forces, act as good, and the enemy army as evil. And good always wins, even if it has to die together with evil. Even if our Armed Forces will be destroyed, destroying the enemy as well, they will still save those who remain. These people are reflected in the text as the children and the survivors as a whole.

— The lyrics of your last song have a very deep meaning indeed, and it is not for nothing that your band is very popular among soldiers. Your songs bring hope. Do you think you will win, and what do you think Skalliad will gain from your band's participation in the contest?

— It doesn't matter what I think. I can't know the future. But I'm going to this contest for one sole purpose, to make the culture of Skalliad more popular. You know, I believe that songs are also some sort of a tool of warfare, that allow us to achieve our goals.

— What a powerful statement! And that concludes our short interview. Edward, thank you so much for the interview! Goodbye!

— It was a pleasure talking to you, Amanda. Auf Wiedersehen!

— That was Amanda Taylor from The Skallia Times with you, in an interview with Edward Milner, the founder, lead vocalist and chief songwriter of the "Hour X" band. End of interview.

Finally, we publish the lyrics of the song "Battle for the Future" that will be performed in the contest:

The lone warrior of light marches on
The sun is hiding behind the mountains
The darkest night is falling
And the final battle approaches

He stopped in the middle of the field
He stares intently into the distance
He sees them, he hears them
They smell, they hunger for flesh and blood

Hordes of bloodthirsty dead men are coming
They smell big prey
They smell what is behind the warrior of light
The flesh and blood of defenseless children
Who are waiting for their parents to return from the war
The hordes of bloodthirsty dead men are hungry for them

The lone warrior of light marches on
Stepping over the corpses
The corpses of his brothers and sisters in misfortune
He would never forget them, he will avenge them

Hordes of bloodthirsty dead men are coming
They see him, they smell him
Bloodlust clouds their minds
The Great Puppeteer sends them into battle

The warrior of light draws his sword
Shiny as the Sun, deadly as poison
Hordes of bloodthirsty dead men surround him
The last hope seems to be lost

Children are crying, waiting for their parents to return from the war
Animals are running wild in fear
All people are crying, foreseeing their death
As they surround the lone warrior of light
Mad hordes of bloodthirsty dead men

He strikes blow after blow with his sword
The hordes of bloodthirsty dead men are thinning out
A new dawn begins
The final battle rages on

The teeth of the dead men bite into his flesh
Blood spurts, flooding the field
The lone warrior of light is mortally wounded
He still strikes blow after blow with his sword

Early morning has come again
Silence and stillness over the field
The lone warrior of light lies breathless
The hordes of bloodthirsty dead men were defeated
The Great Puppeteer has ended his life

Avenge has been done, no one has been forgotten
Survivors' families greet the dawn
Parents have returned to their children
Darkness has been defeated and a nation's future saved
And among those wives, husbands and children
He will be forever standing silent
The lone warrior of light, the one who defeated the darkness

On behalf of all Skalliadians, we wish the "Hour X" band to win at the contest and have a great time at Yahlia! Triumph together!

Oh man, Eurovision really just creeped up on me, I forgot it was this month.

Well, as I said earlier this year, Eurovision '24 is probably the last thing I do in Europe, because I feel like moving to the Democratic Socialist Assembly (which lacks an embassy to Europe...) after some fun times with folks from there in DSAFF.

I'll submit my song and prepare something very quick for a factbook, and that'll be that!

Since when? The world will advance by wars, which will determine the winner and loser.

After over a year, Waffland is finally back in the WA.

All endorsements will be gladly accepted! Endorse Waffland and I’ll make sure to endorse you back😉

I guess it’s time to do the Eurovision factbook
