Hilarious!

I'm the most average in Nova but have a below average averageness score. We're a pretty diverse bunch.

Congratulations are now in order for Monavia, who along with Acquitayne, has just been named/jacketed as one of the two newest NS Mentors!

Congratulations Monavia!!! *Pops open a bottle of Champagne*

I'm in the midst of the worst week of my life. On Thursday my house was struck by lightning and lit on fire. On friday I had no money and no place to go so I turned to my sister. Tonight we fought so I left. I'm at the radio station where I work for tonight, my manager is letting me stay the night tonight but I have no idea what I'm going to do for shelter after tomorrow.

Wow, that really sucks, SaintB. Hope that things improve for you!

Depending on where you live, have you contacted the Red Cross? They might be able to help you with emergency housing.

This is absolutely horrendous news, I can't even imagine what you are going through and I hope you are able to find new accommodation soon!

I am deeply sorry to read about what you have suffered over the past four days and can sympathize with your position since I still remember how mom felt after her townhouse caught fire on September 18, 2005. She dropped my sister and I off with dad so we could attend grandpa's church that morning and be present for grandma's six-month memorial service (she died in March that year). A few hours later, I found out that the fire had happened and dad took us to the site to find the place still smoldering. Mom ended up staying with a neighbor for a few days and then stayed in a hotel until she found a rental property down the street to stay in while the house got rebuilt.

The fire investigators determined that the disaster was largely caused by "creative wiring" that took place before mom bought the house. To make matters worse, she was underinsured by a considerable margin, the salvage crew plundered some of her surviving furniture, the construction company hired incompetent subcontractors, the HOA put a lien on her property, and rebuilding took eleven months. Naturally, I wish that none of this ever happens to anyone else and I plan on keeping you in my prayers for quite a while.

Please let us know if there is something we can do for you.

My co-workers help set me up in a hotel for a week and I'm working on getting the estimates and stuff for damages going. I'll likely be setting up a gofundme to help cover bills because being homeless is expensive.

Good to hear of things on your end stabilizing a bit. I just found out about all the nastiness before I wrote this, but I will definitely be thinking of you and awaiting the gofundme link. Can't promise much until the endless job hunt should pay off on my end, but I'm not broke.

Depending on your salary situation, particularly where you are in your pay period and what work you can actually do with all this happening, I'd honestly half-recommend using the gofundme to buttress any interest-bearing savings you might have; for flexibility in case the insurers try to play games with you, rather than for short-term bills. If your next payday's far-enough away though, feel free to disregard the previous; 'tis just a thought that came to me while reading the comment chain and writing this.

Best wishes to you SaintB, post the gofundme link when it's up.

SaintB if you need any help let me know. Between being a volunteer firefighter and a former Red Cross disaster staff I know the ins and outs if you need networking.

Anyone want to do some sort of Naval Confrence? Maybe hammer out some IC and OOC defense issues? Could lead the way to a regional naval wargame? I'll host it?

:D

Woot woot! Finally #2 in something!
