Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.058 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Katara. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

Smoking is banned in public areas, elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume, the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting, and the nation has welcomed its expats back with open arms. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Belschaft's national animal is the Belschaft Crested Hawk, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Standardised Credit.

Belschaft is ranked 1st in the region and 7,483rd in the world for Most Armed.
