Lockdown Day 14
Dear Forest Diary:
It’s Friday again. The weeks just slip by like a river now. There’s not much to differentiate one day from another, except the construction workers don’t work on the weekends. But even they have been unreliable lately - they only show up when I want to do my work. Then they do power-washing and drilling and shout to each other. The noise wrecks my nerves.

Apparently the government is retraining airline employees to be health care workers now. This is how Sweden keeps full employment. I guess it’s not a bad idea in theory but it’s insane to expose even more people, when there’s not enough safety equipment and only very sick people are being tested. Wouldn’t it make more sense to prioritize taking better care of the people providing care? Standing out on the balconies and applauding seems like the equivalent of sending thoughts and prayers.

From the article I just briefly read on it, it looks like this training program was already set up to fill a need, but the government put airline employees who wanted to volunteer at the top of the list for training spots (since they were being laid off en masse). It sounds like the training focuses on some of the non-medical parts of medical staff work, and on basic care of non-critical patients, to free up nurses and nursing assistants from part of their administrative burden so they can work with more endangered patients. Also, flight attendants are considered a good fit since they have some basic familiarity with medical training already in order to treat people in the air, are used to working with and caring for large numbers of folks, etc. I definitely can support providing better care for the medical staff, but I have to imagine some willing and capable support on the admin side can't hurt!

Hey guys,

I hope everyone is doing as well as can be expected for the current situation. I hope to be able to now re-start my quarantine of things after having been forced to go out for reasons that were unavoidable, unfortunately.

Anyway, in the spirit of voting and elections and solidarity and what-not, I'd like to just sort of point out that our esteemed WA delegate, The United Mangrove Archipelago of Ransium, is currently three endorsements short of 100!! (97, currently!)

It would awesome if we could boost our collective voice in the WA delegate voting into the triple digits, and our Forest currently has the ability to do that, as a region. We have 114 WA nations, as I far as I can tell, so Ransium is at 85% of "full power." That's awesome, on one hand, but something about triple digits is aesthetically pleasing, and I just noticed that we're almost there. O_O

Also: welcome to Oipenta, and welcome back to Cosona! :-)

Also also: thumbs up on the amendment at vote from me. It's a practical thing to have in place.

Edited for emphasis.

Just played that new Max Barry webgame, and gotta say it was a pretty fun 5 minutes. Really liked the plottwist if you [spoiler expunged] at the end.

Lol - I think you just missed my prior references to living in Sweden. Ex-pat American since 2017 (something political occurred in the US in 2016 that helped make up my mind it would be a good time to get out). And I still speak much better Danish than Swedish, though I do understand this much :)

Tangentially related:
Lockdown Day 15
I was wrong about the construction workers not working on Saturday. Hour after hour of power-washing droning noise wrecking my nerves again. Getting the mountain bike out of storage and prepped for use. Just not getting enough physical exercise with a daily ½-hour dog walk. Will try supplementing that with bike rides in the park. Maybe that will help my nerves too.

I'm really hoping the game will continue to develop. It makes the book experience that much deeper. I played a few times, with different choices and different outcomes ;)

YAI!

Well, the South has been struck a most contemptible blow; an affront to our regional honour has been inflicted and shall not be forgiven!

Or shall it?

You decide!

Hypothetically speaking, what would someone have to do to get a single nation condemned by the WA?

It usually seems to involve Gameplay. Specifically, playing the "bad guy" role exceptionally well. Raiding, couping important regions, scheming and conniving and causing general mayhem.

But I've also seen Roleplay condemnations handed out, though I don't know much about the Roleplay community.

Be well liked and in good standing with the community.
