(ahh well that's... awkward)

The Temporary Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dellers Geldon, stood, accomplished as all the movers and lifters lifted all of Menwen's stuff out of the office.
The ugly dog-covered vase that Menwen always seemed to like. The dusty tea set that she never used. Her desk, her spinning chair, and her potted flowers.
The suspicion letters from Roswaesian diplomacy, Hanguk-Nippon, Techganet, and Volaworand.
All moving out. The mail pile was replaced with Dellers's, and his name was now on the plaque on the door.
Dellers Geldon
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Room East A26

"Finally", he thought as the last mover put his chair in. He sat down in the larger office, gazing in awe at how bigger the office was than his.
He could finally correct Menwen's wrongs. Bring the Ministry into his vision. Get Volaworand and Midand back on track with each other. Have more authority.
Be better than Menwen.
Save his family.
He wasted no time and immediately sent messages to Volaworand, Hanguk-Nippon, Roswaesia, Techganet, and many other nations affected.
It was done.
Maybe, for one last time...he could see his family again.

Volaworand Police are conducting an operation today in the South Shetland Islands.

Numerous foreign research stations have been placed on lockdown as the police are conducting site searches.

Details have not been confirmed however anonymous sources say they are looking for other Midand hackers who may have fled to the northern islands using faked scientific researcher travel documents.

Police have refused to comment on the purpose of the operation.

The team leader glanced nervously at the team and then back at the door to the ferry.
The ferry terminal bustled with travelers, shouting families, and screaming people complaining about the ticket price.
"Stop being nervous; if we get on the ferry, the cops are long gone", one of the team members said, chewing on a toothpick.
"That's exactly what I'm nervous about. If we don't get on the ferry, the cops catch us!" she said, sweating.
"Quit worrying, what's 2 minutes going to do?"
"Now boarding Class C, ferry to South Midandia - Airport Island Port."
Maybe he was right. Maybe they could make it.
There were reports of police searching the Shetlands, and they were going to suffer the same fate as the "Forgotten Three" if they weren't quick.

Volaworand Space Agency scuttles GSAT-7 satellite after failed test.

The GSAT-7 space mirror

The Volaworand Space Agency abandoned a failed experiment with a sun-reflecting mirror today -- a prototype officials had hoped would lead to larger models that could illuminate sun-starved southern cities and disaster areas.

The mirror was supposed to work like an artificial moon, reflecting a beam of sunlight across the earth. But a deployment mechanism jammed, and scientists could not find a way to correct the problem.

So today, the VSA sent the mirror, attached to the GSAT-7 satellite, into the earth's atmosphere, where it burned up over the Pacific Ocean.

The experiment's failure was a big disappointment for the VSA, which had billed the project as a display of its ability to conduct pioneering, ambitious projects despite limited funds. Today's failure marks the second major hardware loss after last years disastrous rocket launch failure.

On Thursday, during the first attempt, the mirror's petal-like sail segments failed to unfold correctly after a deployment mechanism jammed.

The GSAT-7 mirror, which was to reach 83 feet in diameter when fully extended, was launched during the second developmental test flight of the GSLV MkIII this week. The VSA scientists say the rocket's augmented payload capability worked perfectly, and that the problem was with the satellite itself.

Had the experiment gone smoothly, the mirror would have shone light on a spot five miles in diameter in a number of regions in Antarctica and South America.

Volaworand space experts hoped the mirror would lead to much larger models that could illuminate southern cities through the long Antarctic night and spotlight disaster areas.

hmmm I did title chapter 3 of the Hermit Dominion "A Ray of Light"

The World Court is mired in controversy and stalemate. Volaworand is under the leadership of Acting Prime Minister Alan Duncan. While the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is investigating the ISU spy agency's actions, and Parliament has passed a new Public Order Temporary Measures to strip the cabinet of the War Measures Act powers at months end, Kamla and Geri continue to investigate, developing multiple backchannels. Of the Ten nations named in the Vault 10 leaks, Five have imposed an internet firewall on Volaworand, while the remaining five been open to investgating first. Volaworand is worried Midand will cut ties, which would throw both economies into a tailspin. Volaworand is reaching out to shore up it's precarious position in the international community.

"If Midand really does sever ties with Volaworand it would cripple both our nation's economies. We are just too interconnected to just shutter everything. They would never do it." a nervous economist said while pointing at downward red lines on his power point presentation. "Their Economic Minister Jerry Cordan seems reasonable and level headed."

"Its Menwen and Mendeons, the 'poison M's' we have to worry about: I think they are calling the shot's there." Another economist disagreed. "Yes Midand is important, but what about our other trading partners, and expanding our exports to other nations in the South Pacific. We haven't really focused on opening up new markets, and we shouldn't have all our eggs in one basket, so to speak. Just this week I was chatting with my counterpart in Auphelia, and they are also looking to increase trade. Perhaps if the Minister could meet with them, a deal could be reached? At least we never hacked them, right?"

"Exactly! We need to look at the nations that we still have good relations with... and probably not the one's the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will be visiting. And Auphelia is a perfect place to start. Our citizens love thier unicorns at the Rothera Zoo: I imagine you at a signing ceremony, right there at the zoo. The media would love it."

Minister Monroe imagined the glowing press reports "Yes... Yes, I will meet them without delay. It never hurts to have options. But, I'm not ready to throw in the towel with Midand, make sure we reach out to their economic ministry: send their Minister Cordan a plushy penguin, and a friendly note. If the government survives this current situation, perhaps we can eventually join their new Trade Corridor Program. I'll ask Kamla to bring that up when she attends the the Naseon Protocols in Hanguk-Nippon."

"Let the Prime Minister's Office know we might have some good news."

"Yes, Minister."

The plane engines made it difficult to hear, but Menwen's words were clear and icy.
The team leader once again tried to convince her. "You're sure there's not a different strategy we can use?"
"No", Menwen said, adamant. Her pixelated face fizzled a little. "You won't be caught. I have made sure of that."
"Yes, but if The Penguinite Kleptocracy of Volaworand finds out...we're screwed. Midand and Volaworand are icy enough as it is - "
"I understand", Menwen said. "But you have your orders. God, you're sounding like Dellers."
And she ended the call.
The team leader sighed and shut her laptop, opening the window. Out there was a vast expanse of nothing but blue ocean, stretching out into infinity. She could see tiny patches of ice up ahead. Volaworand was coming.
She wholeheartedly disagreed with the mission but...who was she to disobey orders?
They technically weren't even a "Foreign Affairs team". They were spies. On a condemnable mission.
This was going to be great.

Hanguk-Nippon wrote:Hanguk-Nippon Begins its Elections for the Provincial Council!

The Hanguk-Nipponese Government has recently announced that it will be beginning its elections for the members of the Provincial Council, the government body that manages all of the autonomous republics within Hanguk-Nippon. The government is on the watch for any suspicious internet activity at the moment, thus voting shall not be electronically to reduce the risk of cybernetic interference.

Connections to the recent scandals involving Volaworand, Midand, and Techganet have roused suspicion with the elections.

Midand wrote:Jerry Cordan sighed and trudged through the hallway. The Cabinet meeting was an absolute disaster. Menwen, Geldon, and Mendeons were all at each other's throats, and the rest of the ministers desperately tried to keep the meeting steady.
With the entire crisis involving Volaworand and all that, Cordan felt like the one thing trying to keep everything together. The rest of the government wasn't exactly helping matters, and he could sense rifts forming amongst them.
Cordan stopped and picked up the new public info pamphlets for the International Trade Corridor Program, the names of Hanguk-Nippon and Roswaesian diplomacy proudly emblazoned on the cover. He remembered the little fit Volaworand threw when they realized they weren't invited.
Cordan threw the pamphlet aside and made his way to his office, expecting another mount of paperwork detailing the procedures Midand was taking to cut their ties.
As he made his way there, a worker stopped him.
"Heh, what's this - " he started, but had a package shoved into his arms.
"I love what's inside", the worker said cheekily, and walked off smiling.
Confused, Cordan dropped his case and read the postage.
It was from Volaworand.
Opening the package he found...a very cute looking penguin plushie and a letter.

Volaworand wrote:Dear Minister Cordan, Jerry (written in pen)

Greetings from The Dominion of Volaworand. I was reviewing the Special Edition Penguin plush toys we are offering at Port Lockroy this year, and thought you would get a kick out of them. I am sending you Number One of the 5000 we have commissioned for this season. I know that relations have been strained between our diplomat's but I wanted to personally reassure you that I and all of my team in the Department of Commerce and Industry remain firmly committed to the special relationship between Midand and Volaworand.

The friendship between our nations runs deep and can weather many storms. If you ever want to talk off the record, enclosed is my personal number. You are welcome to call anytime.

In peace and profit,

Deanna

Midand wrote:Cordan read the letter over and over.
Maybe...an off the books discussion would help.
He picked up his personal phone and dialed Deanna's number.

Volaworand wrote:Deanna saw the number from Midand come up on her call display.

"I need the room. Everyone out!"

After the last of her staff filed out of the room she swiped on her phone to pick up.

"Jerry! So good to hear from you! Did you get the plushie?"

Midand wrote:"Why yes", Jerry said, fluffing it. "I quite like it. There was something about a discussion I hear?"

Volaworand wrote:"Well, I've been following the reports in both our nation press with concern. I'm very worried about where things are heading and was wondering if you had any idea's on how we can change the narrative. There must be something we can do together to turn this ship before it's too late?"

Midand wrote:"I genuinely don't know. The three M's really got this ship in their direction and only this direction. The Program could be a good jump pad for us to try to get back together again."
He fluffs the plushie again.

Volaworand wrote:"I'm thinking that perhaps a small event where we could still get media attention would be a good reminder to both our nations that we have more drawing us together than pulling us apart? Is the Midandian pianist that played at your embassy here last month now on tour in Midand? The two of us casually attending a recital together might be a good photo opportunity?"

Volaworand wrote:"Ahh, my staff are knocking at the door. No rest for the wicked I suppose. I do need to run, but thank-you so much for the call Jerry. Think the recital idea over, a small event with good optics could go a long way in the press, and that might help change the course our bosses seem to be on. I'm open to any other idea you might have. If I have my phone off just send me a text. Let's keep this back channel open.

Thanks again Jerry, you have an excellent evening!"

Midand wrote:"Well...I guess this sounds like a good idea", Jerry said, still fluffing the plushie. "You too."
And the call ended.

Deanna Monroe, Volaworand's Minister of Commerce and Industry, was not used to being praised at cabinet meetings. "Thank-you Acting Prime Minister, I've made arrangements with Auphelia to attend a signing ceremony at the Rothera Zoo: the Auphelian Unicorn mare on loan there is pregnant, and the zoo just completed expanding their exhibit. The Free Trade Agreement signing will also serve to open the expanded exhibit."

"The whole nation seems to be glued to the zoo's Unicorn webcam. Any idea when the calf will be born? It's such a welcome distraction from this business with Midand."

Alastair Dickson, the Minister of Defence and Security, spoke up "My team has been monitoring chatter from Midand. I think they are up to something."

"Well keep an eye on them." said Duncan "I don't want Midand interfering with the signing ceremony tomorrow. Deanna, let's take a look at the agreement, shall we?"

"Yes, Acting Prime Minister"

Even if this was a deathly dangerous confidential mission coupled with the fact that they were technically trespassing on foreign soil, Jack had this weird habit of slapping stickers or postage stamps of every place he visited.
He opened up his laptop and started to work.
Beep.
Beep.

The servers in the "server shack" beeped softly, and a soft whirr covered the room.
Soft conversation echoed from the front of the shack.
"Hey, you seeing this?" a person said in a hushed voice.
"Yeah", another replied. "Trade agreement with Auphelia? They're getting desperate."
Their team leader supervised from the back of the room, shrouded in darkness, the only parts of her visible drenched in blue light.
The first part of the mission was to hide out in an abandoned Volaworandian server room ("shack" as the IT team described) and see if they could snag any files coming in and out of the government that was related to the recent IAM report.
Jack had already intercepted a few transmissions. The team leader then stood over his shoulder, her breaths soft on his neck.
Sweating, Jack opened up a few of the files. The team leader's face changed from apathetic to piqued.
"Tell me what's on there", she said, crossing her arms.
"Well...", Jack said. "We have some updates on...Midandian mines. Yep, that's probably confirmed now. I think there's updates on the operations in Hanguk-Nippon, Techganet, Roswaesian diplomacy, and Techolandia. Most likely good proof."
The team leader sighed and shook her head. "This is not right", she muttered under her breath. "Menwen's gone down the edge too."
Regaining herself, she said to Jack, "Good. Send it to the IAM."
Jack nodded and opened up his messages. He watched from the corner of his eye as she opened the door and disappeared into the snow.

He reads his phone. "Stop the motorcade! We need to get to the Secure Issues Room now! Three Midand agents were just captured."

The driver made a sharp U-turn, and one of the Volaworand flags blew off the front of the car, carried high on the wind as it flapped out of sight.

Midand wrote:Jack got his computer with his beloved stickers taken away.
The Volaworandian team were ruthless, stripping away all loose items and throwing them into secured cars.
"Nothing's going to happen to us...right?" Jack nervously asked the other team members. "Because of the...erm...rules?"
"This is Volaworand we're talking about though", one of them said sadly.
Jack shivered. He had a point.

Volaworand wrote:Earlier today, Deanna Monroe, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, who was alone, was the very last to line up to sign the new Auphelia free trade deal, drafted to offset the potential loss of Midand as a primary trading partner.

"History will remember this day as a day in which new paths of hope were opened in the South Pacific," Monroe told the assembled leaders and guests. "Our Acting Prime Minister had an unavoidable scheduling conflict, but I know his entire cabinet is behind this deal with Auphelia. Today marks a renewal of our government's focus on trade and prosperity. We are looking outward to the future, not inward at the past."

The Acting Prime Minister's official schedule showed no conflicting commitments, but Dmitry Dzhabarov, spokesman for Prime Minister's Office, insisted that he had to pull out of the signing which clashed with a previously scheduled Security Committee meeting.

Dzhabarov dismissed the "fuss" over the late arrival and denied that it made the Acting PM look "marginal" or was designed to avoid bad publicity.

Couldn't she just have one crummy day to herself?
She opened up her laptop and saw her assistant Dellers Geldon staring at her in her office.
"What is it? If it's more Volaworand crap just email me", she grumbled, grabbing a few napkins.
"It's not that", Dellers said indignantly. "Lots of crap has happened."
Cherry sighed. "Lay it on me. However, I do not want to step foot in my office today."
Dellers sighed. "One thing: You know that team you sent out to Volaworand?"
"Yes?" Cherry said.
"Well...they got caught."
"Well that shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?" Cherry said, her face remaining the same. "We have angry-faced bureaucrats just ready to go if they so much lay a finger on them. Now if you'll - "
"Just drop it", Dellers said angrily. Cherry quieted.
"One other pretty bad thing is...the IAM and the higher-uppers are performing a full recall of the ministry."
Cherry's face finally changed. "What?"
"Yes they are. They're going through us bit by bit right now. Full search-n-sweep."
"What?! What is this even - "
Dellers cut her off again. "Public trust in you is falling Cherry. The Ministry's a mess. Mendeons seems pretty pissed at you."
Cherry fumed and reached for her coat.
"But before you leave...", Dellers said, and Cherry looked at his pixelated face indignantly.
"Fine", Cherry said, huffing.
"I think...they're going to sack you. Rumors and rifts are forming in the Parliament. I think they reached their breaking points. Best you make sure your stuff's packed...just in case."
Cherry huffed farther. "Not on my watch."
She slammed her laptop shut and threw on her coat.
On the other side, she only left Dellers to smile a peculiar smile at the dark screen.

Hanguk-Nippon wrote:Diplomats Preparing for the Worst

Diplomats that have been called to Naseon for the protocols have been ordered to prepare for the worst. After the very recent pull of Volaworand's military from a joint military base with Midand, the Hanguk-Nipponese Government has expressed concern for both sides.

The Chief Secretary of the Foreign Secretariat of the Administrative Offices, Min Akitori, has recently been interviewed. Stating that "these times are of great concern to the international community, what's worse is that the convention is soon and the government has ordered everyone to prepare themselves. So I have very good reason to be worried. Also, the withdrawal of officers from another country is a sign of distrust and deteriorating relations."

The Government of Midand has stated that they're "only pulling out protected officers" though the Hanguk-Nipponese Government believes otherwise. The question still remains: What will happen next?

Membership in the terrorist group is punishable by up to five years imprisonment under the Public Order Temporary Measures Act.

Volaworand bank VTB said its websites had been targeted by a cyberattack but insisted its systems were still working "as normal".

The NCSC did not say if other countries' secret services were involved in the latest plot against Volaworand, but alleged the attacks used servers and "command centres" located in Techolandia belonging to Midandian hosting company, BlazingFast. It is unclear if the attacks also targeted other countries, with unconfirmed reports coming from as far away as Deumontiverland and Hanguk-Nippon.

Now, the closest enemy troops are more than 400 kilometres away, and territory held by Le Front de Liberation du Midand (FLM) is shrinking by the day. They've been driven back by unrelenting, punishing attacks by Volaworandian bombs and missiles and on the ground by SPI government troops and militias supported by Volaworandian "advisers" and special forces.

Tactically, Volaworand's intervention has turned the course of the conflict. Shoigu's regime, which was on the verge of collapse, is now resurgent. Volaworand's generals now openly talk about shifting to the next phase of the war, which is hunting down and taking out other militants from formerly FLM-affiliated groups elsewhere in South Pacifica Isles. The threat posed by FLM being on Volaworand's back doorstep was one of the major motivations for Prime Minister Lina Hovland to join the conflict. Another was Volaworand's desire to show the world that it could be a major power and reliable ally in the South Pacific once again. Having a friendly government supporting Volaworand in international affairs is welcomed by the government.

Prime Minister Lina Hovland, who is slowly dying after being poisoned by Midand's Cherry Menwen, would beg to differ. And the recent Midand attacks the banking and public transit system are proceeding through Volaworand's Justice System under the Public Order Temporary Measures Act, where the Le Front de Libération du Midand was officially designated a terrorist group.

Volaworand is proceeding under our domestic justice system, and applying pressure on Midand directly, without bringing complaints to the WC, but we continue to decry the WC's focus on the false allegations of cyber meddling brought by Midand and Techolandia.

We have no control over how General Shoigu's government in theSouth Pacifica Isles regards the situation, but do appreciate their support.

Midand wrote:"Any updates?" Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Dellers Geldon said to Tered Delliam, IAM Director.

Dellers nodded and sat down in a chair next to Tered. He clutched his pocket with the photo. He felt a tear coming, but he ignored it.
Tered tried to lighten the mood. "Take a load of this garbage", he said, passing Dellers a newspaper.
A copy of the recent issue of The Midandia Times.

Dellers read it with interest and boredom, somehow at the same time. "Terrorists, huh? Volaworand must be really getting desperate. Do you know of anything related to this...terrorist group?"
"Well not that I know of", Tered said, laughing awkwardly. He quieted down.
Dumb joke.
"Well, there is a terrorist group throwing hissy fits, though I'm pretty sure they're not Midandian based. I should make a few calls", Tered said.
Dellers then changed his expression. "And the file I gave you on Menwen?"
Tered went cold. That file. Yeah...
"Are you sure all that on there is true? Some of that seems quite far-fetched."
"I've been working under her for years", Dellers said indignantly. "Why would she let all of us know?"
A faint smirk on Deller's lips disappeared.
Tered's phone then buzzed. A new news story from Roswaesian diplomacy.

Luhi:Treso'a was part of the Luhi Clan, a distant branch of Midandian natives who had resided on their island near Volaworand for millenia. But then the Midandian government, who owned the beautiful snowcapped island, proclaimed that due to some odd "budget" issue, their island was being loaned off to a private company.
Treso'a hoped that the company that accepted the island would be sympathetic to the Luhi's plight, but Midand Global Corp. a conglomerate notorious for it's impact, had bought it and...they were forced to leave. Their reserves weren't classed as permanent, so they couldn't refute their claim.
Treso'a couldn't take it anymore and buried her head in her eyes.

And Treso'a weeped.
She weeped harder when the gate agent announced boarding for their flight to South Midandia Island and then to Midand City, the pristinely white jet pulling up to the jetway.
Why did they have to be affected as well?

'Minister, we are pleased to have you back at Parliamentary would you like me to take your coat?' - Said Maid Jacquie.

'Yes, that would be great' - said Minister Rossborough in a voice of excitement.

Minister Rossborough was lead into The Room of The Main, Parliamentary's voting room

All ministers arose and vowed as he made his entrance. (Roswaesia is very key to respecting royalty and respecting government officials of high executive authority)

Michael Rossborough was announced by The Prime Stand, and he started to speak.

"Dear Parliamentarians and Ministers of this wonderful nation called Roswaesia, we wish to tell you that all Midand relations have been cut, meaning international conflicts are mostly gone!' - Hundreds of Parliamentarians and Ministers began applauding.

"Midand is putting their citizens through pure hell and their citizens through uncontrollable environments of riots, The Midandian Government has begun only caring about themselves and their power and international presence, Midand continued making attempts at dumping their numerous versions of Propaganda into our government and too our citizens, which The Roswaesian Department of Homeland Security blocked before it reached media's view and public views began to change." - Said Rossborough in a anxious voice.

- Michael Clinched his fists in a quick mood swing

"Roswaesians are aware that Midand is committing several versions of international hatred and has featured private groups to steal foreign intelligence to stop foreign and international investigations, I mean 4 Midandian officials are in Roswaesia as we speak starting their sentence for 40 years in prison. Midand has several layers of federal corruption and attempts to hypocritical processes such as saying The Nation of Volaworand is horrible for committing mistakes that are mostly in the past. Midand's hypocritical demands and actions to foreign nations needs to stop immediately, or we will take actions to make sure it stops."

- The Room Immediately silenced after that last sentence.

'Minister?' - said a quiet voice in the background of hundreds of Parliamentarians.

- The Minister of Homeland Security Alina Mahgahony stood up and The Prime Stand turned on her microphone to speak.

'We have been under a cyber attack from foreign intelligence in Midand for awhile, but we have blocked all attacks'

- Several Parliamentarians began getting outraged by the previous statement.

"Quiet Down Immediately" - The Prime Stand silenced everyone.

'Thank you, as I was saying, Midand has been attempting to research foreign intelligence's to find the weaknesses that the intelligence's government is not aware of. Midand has been mostly committing these attacks in Roswaesia, while possibly pushing several attacks in Hanguk-Nippon, Techganet, and even Volaworand while releasing several denouncing statements to Volaworand while doing the attacks themselves, this needs to immediately come to a hault or consequences will be given."

- All Parliamentarians are outraged at this point.

- The Prime Stand requested and issued a vote to all Parliamentarians, making all their computer screens light up.

The Prime Stand began speaking.

"Dear Parliamentarians, after the provided evidence and suggestions from the Minister of Homeland Security we ask that you pull a vote too began liberation groups to start pushing The Midandian government for a change."

Parliamentarians immediately started voting at rapid speeds.

Michael Rossborough began to speak once again. "Our Minister of Homeland Security has a point on Midand, they are committing international crimes, so we need to start pushing Midand to change in a whole, Roswaesians are being pulled from Midand immediately and then travel will be blocked. After recent tensions between Hanguk-Nippon, Volaworand, Midand, Techganet, and Roswaesian diplomacy, Hanguk-Nippon has proposed a treaty directed against Midand in their recent espionage investigations and the current strained relations. Observers look on as Hanguk-Nippon prepares for military cooperation with another power.

page=dispatch/id=1111144

Volaworand wrote:Kamla Patelwill looks over the proposal of Hanguk-Nippon. She is generally pleased, but scribbles a few notes to send to their diplomatic team.
  • In the Preamble, what is meant by Hoping that the Volaworand maintains the level of formality in their military? With the increased tension we face in the South Pacific, we are slowly raising our military spending, having only recently increased our spending from 2% of GDP to 3.8%... ultimately we hope to cap out just under 5% would this level of spending be at odds with this proposal?

  • In Article 1: We have some questions around the military equipment coordination. Being a peaceful and isolated polar nation we have an extremely small land force, so have only little use for armored equipment. Our main focus is naval technologies, polar climate search and rescue equipment and auxillary naval support like ice breakers and tugs to keep our ports clear. We do have a fair sized navy and are currently researching adapting our nuclear power tech for development of a nuclear powered submarine fleet. We have delayed replacing our current 5 submarines until this technology can be developed domestically for use during long patrols under the ice shelves of our nation.

  • Also in Article 1: What do you see the scope of a joint military-research institution, and how would it be funded? We would be willing to commit to a wide group offering mutual aid and intelligence sharing, perhaps a joint disaster response team formation for monitoring and responding to natural or technological disasters, but we are very wary of our troops being on foreign soil for anything other than strict humanitarian grounds. We do still technically have, on paper, a defensive alliance with Techganet, North prarie, and Midand under the Eastfold treaty, although it has withered we doubt it be honoured in the event an outbreak of state sponsored violence. Should that treaty officially dissolve (perhaps under this treaty if Techganet and North Prarie agreed?) then we might be open to a more robust defensive alliance. As things sit now legally, we can't commit to ally against Midand, while we are still allies on paper.

  • In Article 2, could the point on shipping lanes read "Shipping lanes will monitored and, if the country of origin deems it necessary, may be protected by convoys at their own expense. Signatories agree to share information about real and potential threats interruptions of trade."

  • We support Article 3, and would be open to a longer period of Non-Agression if other parties were willing. We would ask if it would be acceptable to replace "None of the signatories may support the enemy of the other through direct military intervention and/or through the use of volunteer corps" with "None of the signatories may support a declared enemy of the other through direct military support or through third parties."

Hanguk-Nippon wrote:1. It is of no concern.

2. Adding naval technology and winter equipment as Hanguk-Nippon has a very formidable navy, but lacks much high-quality winter equipment. We will also assist you in the process of clearing out ice from your ports.

3. It will be funded through the Administrative Offices and Vathesian Treasury as we have annexed them

4. It won't dissolve (just weakened). However, it will be ignored by my government. Also, I have never stated that this treaty was against Midand. It only concerned them.

5. Changed.

6. Changed but all lend-leases to a declared enemy are strictly prohibited.

Soft conversation echoed from the front of the shack.

Jack had already intercepted a few transmissions. The team leader then stood over his shoulder, her breaths soft on his neck.

Jack nodded and opened up his messages. He watched from the corner of his eye as she opened the door and disappeared into the snow.

Volaworand is proceeding under our domestic justice system, and applying pressure on Midand directly, without bringing complaints to the WC, but we continue to decry the WC's focus on the false allegations of cyber meddling brought by Midand and Techolandia.

Mendeons sighed and closed his laptop. "Ah, Assistant Minister Geldon...report", he grumbled. He was doodling something strange on a sketchpad. Dellers couldn't see it, but there were a lot of scribbles.
"Volaworand still ain't budging", Dellers said.
Mendeons sighed further. "Menwen should've known that plan wouldn't work. Are we still giving them consequences?"
"Nothing feasible", Dellers said. "The detainees could be staying there all year."
Mendeons sighed. "Great", he muttered under his breath. "Anymore?"

Dellers cut him off. "I've been serving under for years, you think I know?"
"Take the bait, take the bait, take...", Dellers thought.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Michael Rossborough arrived at Parliamentary eager to share his thoughts.

This is just the start of a Roswaesian-Midand process.

- All Parliamentarians voted by the end time of that speech.

- Parliamentary vote for The Midandian Government Refresh Plan 929 to 71

"Now all we need is for Midand to give us permission to begin the process on fixing the Midandian government and help them have a good reputation in the future" - Rossborough said grinning while finalizing his statement.

- All Parliamentarians stood up and begin making a mass exodus out into The Main Parliamentary building.

After recent tensions between Hanguk-Nippon, Volaworand, Midand, Techganet, and Roswaesian diplomacy, Hanguk-Nippon has proposed a treaty directed against Midand in their recent espionage investigations and the current strained relations. Observers look on as Hanguk-Nippon prepares for military cooperation with another power.

page=dispatch/id=1111144

"Its Menwen and Mendeons, the 'poison M's' we have to worry about: I think they are calling the shot's there." Another economist disagreed. "Yes Midand is important, but what about our other trading partners, and expanding our exports to other nations in the South Pacific.

He took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes. "I need a cigarette break. Back in a few minutes John. Can you hold down the fort here?"

"Of course, minister. It seems we might have been worried for nothing, everything seems quiet."

"Well keep an eye on it, we can't let anything slip by. I'll be right back."

Alan reached for his coat and left the room.

John looked back, making sure the minister had left. He opened his browesr and opened his video streaming service. The familiar theme song of Keeping Up with the Si-topians filled the room. "Damn, speakers!" cursed John as he popped in his earbuds, muting the speakers. "The Minister is worried about nothing. At least can get caught up on my show." John enlarged the screen, and settled back in his chair.

On Minister Dickson's screen, a small light of text started to flash "ALERT! ALERT!"

Oblivious to the other screen, John laughed, "OMG, they killed TSSS again! I love this show!"

Tered never saw him smoke before but he ignored it.
After a long period of silence, Hondunurs spoke again.
"I hear rumors that we're giving Cherry the sack after that little stunt with her website", he grumbled, taking a long smoky breath. "Why did you take it down anyway?"
"Well...she was being a brat. Letting things slip and that report would've given the press 10 strokes and a few heart attacks", Tered said, putting his hands in his pocket.
Hondunurs sighed. "We and The Penguinite Kleptocracy of Volaworand are pissing everyone off lately. With any luck soon Hanguk-Nippon, Techganet, Roswaesian diplomacy...they're all going to be on our case. We should be letting it go by now but...we're too far in."

"Yeah, but what's not helping is the fact that Cherry is now breaking laws of national sovereignty with the little spies she sent in", Hondunurs grumbled angrily.
Tered gulped. "And your point is...?"
Hondunurs smashed his cigarette in an ashtray, a thin puff of smoke exiting through the end. "The rumors...I believe we should make it true. Get your department and perform a full recall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I'm just sick of this crap."

After several short deliberations, the Hanguk-Nipponese Hall of Worthies declared that "their time with Midand is over. Hanguk-Nippon needs to look elsewhere for allies. We now know that Midand is not one of them". The Imperial Army was recently tasked with the withdrawal of Hanguk-Nipponese diplomats from Midand, and talks on cooperation have begun to break down.

On related news, Hanguk-Nippon has still permitted Midand to send over its delegation for the Naseon Convention despite recent tensions. However, public opinion of Midand has rapidly decreased.

Midand wrote:Luhi:Treso'a watched the sadly watched another plane take off, most of it's passengers most likely never to return to their beloved island again.
Her daughter Luhi:Tresa comforted her, patting her back. The airport had a very sad demeanor, and the billowing snowstorm outside did not help. The waiting lounge was dark and dreary, and the gate agent gave up trying to cheer everyone up.
"I'm sorry...", she weeped in her native language.
Tresa, who had lived in Midand City for a period of time, patted her on the back again. "It's sad, I know", she said in a mix of Midandian and English. "But the reservation there is a great place. You'll..."
She trailed off, deciding it was just best to let her mother weep.
And Treso'a weeped.
She weeped harder when the gate agent announced boarding for their flight to South Midandia Island and then to Midand City, the pristinely white jet pulling up to the jetway.
Why did they have to be affected as well?

President Valieant has said that she does not wish to provoke Volaworand, she just thinks it is the correct move for international relations. "Although Volaworand is a historical ally, and even though we are aware of the fact that we have territory on Antarctica, we cannot leave behind our great friendship with Midand and our historical ties with the Midandians. Getting more and more frustrated by the moment, and frustrated at the slow rate of his current...plan...he decided to take it all out on a lowly intern passing his office, holding cups of coffee in his hands.

The intern whimpered, piping hot coffee spilling all over his hands. "I...erm...brought your coffee sir..."

Minister of Foreign Affairs Michael Rossborough arrived at Parliamentary eager to share his thoughts.

Observers look on as Hanguk-Nippon prepares for military cooperation with another power.

page=dispatch/id=1111144
