The Encyclopedia Selenida is a repository of information concerning the Selenid System and all information related to it, including the recent history of the planet Vesta and all entries to the Global Information Survey.
Events happen within the Selenid System, the sole planetary system known to have life. It consists of a star called Selene, ten planets, an asteroid belt, and an unknown number of smaller objects.
See the table below for an overview of each planet, and the Roleplay Management Portal for a full detail of the physical characteristics of each planet in both metric and customary units.

* Life has been detected in Sorana and Vesta, but intelligent life has only been detected in Vesta. Life in Sorana is limited to flora and simple organisms. |
. • Hesperia's surface is permanently covered by thick and toxic clouds due to a severe greenhouse effect. • Janus is tidally-locked, which means that one side of it always faces the star and the other side always faces away from it, leaving a thin habitable strip in the middle. • Sorana has a prominent ring system and is the best candidate for human colonisation due to its vast oceans and large island chains. • Vesta has a single natural satellite called Apollo. • Iris has a large storm system called the Great Yellow Spot that has been observed by astronomers for the past 400 years. |
Vesta is the fifth planet from Selene, one of two bodies known to have life, and the only body known to have intelligent life.

The following is a list of the main world events in Vesta since the outbreak of the Great War.
2017 | A skirmish breaks out between Austra and the Union over the use of the Eastern Sea for military exercises. |
Austra demands that the Union cease using the Eastern Sea for military exercises.
The Union rejects the ultimatum and deploys its naval forces to the Eastern Strait, leading to an all-out battle against Austra.
Austra receives the support of the International Security and Defence Alliance (ISDA).
The Union receives the support of the International Defence Community (IDC).
2023 | Austra defeats the Union at the Battle of Dorado and begins an advance deep into Union territory. |
The Union conducts a strategic nuclear strike against the advancing Austran forces.
Austra considers this a first strike and retaliates with its own nuclear strikes against key Union targets.
The Union activates its nuclear response plan and launches against key Austran targets.
Sartoria, Qastari, Mydia, and Septima sign the Egia Protocol to form the Global Peace Council (GPC) and demand an immediate cessation of hostilities in Austra and the Union.
GPC strikes Austran and Unioner nuclear launch sites in preparation for a full invasion, leading to partial government collapses in both countries.
The transitional governments of Austra and the Union sign instruments of surrender pending negotiations for a final peace treaty.
2024 | The member states of the former ISDA and IDC sign the Treaty of Messelia to bring a formal end to the Great War. |
The parties also sign the Charter of the World Society, an international forum where all nations can cooperate on a variety of issues and solve their differences in a peaceful manner
The World Society submits to the member states the Nuclear Weapons Prohibition Treaty (NWPT).
The NWPT bans the development, possession, and use of nuclear weapons, and tasks the WS Security Council and the International Nuclear Energy Authority (INEA) with its enforcement.
2029 | Sartoria and Mydia sign a memorandum of understanding to launch and operate an international space station in Low Vesta Orbit. |
2031 | Austra dissolves into four successor states (V39 - V42, V48) following severe instability and a violent civil war. |
The four Austran successor states are admitted to the World Society.
The Union joins the international space station project as a launch and crew provider.
2035 | The primary components of the Home One International Orbital Station are successfully launched. |
An international crew comprised of Sartorian, Mydic, and Unioner astronauts is the first to operate the station.
2039 | The Union blocks from Sartoria to commit the member states of the International Outer Space Authority (IOSA) to establish a permanent human presence beyond Low Vesta Orbit. |
Sartoria boycotts the XIV IOSA Annual Meeting in response to the Union's block.
2040 | A skirmish breaks out between Mydia and the Union after Mydia accidentally fires on Union ships, signaling the start of the Egian War. |
Union President Paul Lassiter stakes a claim to the Egia Archipelago, deploying military forces to take it by force.
2042 | Mydia launches a counteroffensive to reclaim the Egia Archipelago. |
The Union is renounces its claim and engages in peace negotiations, bringing the Egian War to an end.
2043 | Sartoria and Franconia form the Space Exploration Alliance (SEA) to increase bilateral cooperation on space-related matters. |
SEA commits to building and staffing a permanent research base on Apollo before the end of the century.
The Union criticises the founding of SEA as a breach of post-war good faith cooperation.
2044 | Mydia and Sartoria form the Valentian Integrated Defence Command (VID) as a defence-oriented initiative in response to the Egian War. |
The Union criticises VID as a further breach of post-war cooperation and suspends its participation in joint crew launches to Home One, effectively withdrawing from the project.
2047 | Qastari and Franconia join VID while Mydia joins SEA, forming the informal group known as the G4. |
2051 | The G4 sign the First Treaty of Tedimia to form the Valentian Economic Zone (VEZ). |
The VEZ involves lowering tariffs and increasing economic cooperation among the member states.
2052 | The Union forms the Commonwealth of Nations as an alternative to both SEA and AeroCom. |
2053 | The G4 sign the Second Treaty of Tedimia to form the Valentian Travel Area (VTA). |
The VCA involves lifting tourist visa requirements and expediting the process to obtain work and study visas among the member states.
2055 | SEA launches Lyre 1, the first of five missions meant to prove the alliance's capability to travel beyond Low Vesta Orbit. |
Lyre 1 is a success and marks the first time that humans orbit Apollo since before the Great War.
2056 | SEA assembles the final components of the Home Two Orbital Station, a station in orbit around Apollo. |
SEA sends a crew of three astronauts to manage Home Two.
2057 | The G4 sign the Treaty of Parthenion to form the Common Foreign Service Initiative (CFSI). |
The CFSI involves establishing joint embassies, consulates, and trade offices in countries where certain members have no resident diplomatic or consular presence.
2059 | SEA launches Lyre 5, the last of the Lyre missions. |
Lyre 5 confirms SEA's ability to land astronauts on Apollo and certifies the successful functioning of the primary components of Apollo City, the SEA's apollian station.
The Union launches the first of the Eagle Missions, intended to prove the Union's ability to send astronauts to Apollo.
2061 | Apollo City officially begins operations with an international crew of six, signaling the start of a continuous human presence on Apollo. |
2064 | The G4 sign the Treaty of Merritt to place all their common institutions under a single organisation named the Valentian Alliance (VA). |
The VA establishes freedom of movement and eliminates most tariffs to implement a free trade area across its member states.
The following is a list of the major international alliances in Vesta. This list does not preclude the existence or future formation of minor international alliances.
