The United Systems of Rymeria is a massive, safe nation, remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.77 billion enjoy some of the most opulent lifestyles in the region, unless they are unemployed or working-class, in which case they are variously starving to death or crippled by easily preventable diseases.

The enormous government is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Education are on the agenda. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 25%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

Loans are available for students from poor families, most of the military's funding goes into researching space-age weaponry, the Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Rymeria's national animal is the osprey, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the credit.
