Someone who wants to be inefficient as all hell? :D

Having one timezone when you're supposed to have 4+ is a bad idea all around.

RFM: ELECTIONS CALLED
With the unfortunate death of our Chancellor Oyento Cortoeke, general elections have been called in one week’s time. Wilhemina Metternich of the Mandiran Economic Change Party, and Yanji Upsina of the Syndicalist Party have been running their campaigns for over a month now, each gathering masses of voters. Both called the death a “tragedy,” but said it was a chance to “clear up a right mess.” The killer of Mr. Cortoeke, Ms. Eliza Fetton, was killed in the Great Square of Mandira shortly after her deed. The police officers responsible for her death have been arrested and questioned. It was revealed in a press release earlier today that Ms. Fetton was a combat veteran, and wore a prosthetic leg as a result of a battle injury. As Mandiran law states, veterans are allowed more leeway with encounters with the war. Her apartment had been mistakenly raided by Mandate Police. They had been targeting a terrorist cell, but raided the wrong apartment. A police chief is under investigation.
While you citizens have short notice, the nation needs a leader urgently. The economy is sluggish, and the Zarisian provinces are still in need of development and infrastructure. Last night, after the news of Mr. Cortoeke’s death reached the airwaves, no less than forty-two riots erupted in Zaris, sparked by separatist parties and anger at the NPP. Here today to speak to us is Yanji Upsina, Syndicalist Party leader and candidate for Chancellor.
YU: “Good evening!”
RFM: “Thank you for agreeing to this interview. Tell us, what are your plans for the economy. A recent Barsilts poll has put dissatisfaction with the economic growth rate at a high in two years.”
YU: “Well...I believe the dissatisfaction stems from the large inequality we are seeing in income and wealth distribution. It’s only been eight long years since the Republican Revolution, and income inequality is already enormous. Syndicalism seeks to solve this by returning business to the workers. Corporate greed has channelled growth to the rich, while the poor have been left behind. Within my first year of office, I will create worker’s Cooperatives that are centered around a compound in each city. The big corporations, Mentira, Iogen, you know… will be broken up and distributed evenly to the co-ops. Only then will we see decent growth. Workers will be happier…”
RFM: “Your system has drawn criticism with comparisons to the Communist Stanoy regime. What are your views?”
YU: “Syndicalism and Communism are not the same. Syndicalism is democratic and more focused on business.”
RFM: “Some are worried about Mandira’s small foreign presence and that we are not doing enough to combat Mekkadon Imperialism and colonialism on our doorstep.”
YU: “I say isolationism is the best road to take here. We must focus on saving ourselves before saving others. I also will firmly take a stand against the Mekkadon Imperialist ambitions by stationing the military on the border and by issuing trade embargoes. These Mekkadons are greedy, evil, and capitalist, and will try and destroy all things Mandiran.”
RFM: “Thank you for your time.”
Today, we also have Wilhemina Metternich, leader of the Syndicalist Party, here to speak with us.
WM: “Thank you.”
RFM: “Good evening, Mrs. Metternich. We’ll start immediately. What are your plans for the economy? As you are aware, people are discontent with the current level of growth. How will your administration plan to remedy this?”
WM: “Well first, I will continue with Mr. Cortoeke’s work and privatise the remaining state-owned corporations. Deregulation is a must, as minimum wage laws and restrictions on what benefits must be allotted is a huge burden on corporations. My administration will lower the corporate tax rate to 5%, and implement a flat tax for all Mandirans. Capital controls will be discontinued, and a large amount of money previously spent on healthcare will be used as stimulus to get the economy going again. I will cease all public benefits as well, shrinking the government and putting more money back into the pockets of hard-working Mandirans. Rent controls and height restrictions in major cities will be removed, easing development costs and making landlords more profitable. All this combined, the economic growth will likely be in the double digits by the end of my fifth year in office. And Mandirans will be happy, because money is the key to happiness.”
RFM: “Some are calling your plan far too idealistic. What will be done to help the poorest of the poor, those without homes, food, or basic needs?”
WM: “Ah, you see, they will rely on public charity. Privitised non-profit organisations will spend money far more efficiently, and money will reach more people. I firmly believe in the free market. Wellfare from the government will still be available, but a smaller amount and only to those without any relatives and who can prove they are looking for a job.”
RFM: “How will you guide Mandiran foreign policy? Currently we have a relatively small footprint on the world stage, and there are concerns of Mekkadon expansion on our borders.”
WM: “I say we should increase free-trade deals, and try and better relations with the Imperium of Franz-Mekkado. They are capitalist, freedom loving people like ourselves, and they have come to our aid in times of need. We could even have a military alliance soon enough. The Imperium is a good trade partner, with a large industrial base and a vast economy, they can easily afford anything we sell. Mandira will stay small on the world stage, but will be richer and closer to its neighbours.”
RFM: “Thank you. I’m afraid that’s all we have time for.”
Political debate has started, and next week’s elections will decide the course of the Commonwealth in the coming years. Our Commonwealth shall rise up the global ladder, carrying the beacon of Mandiran culture with it. This has been Radio Free Mandira, thank you, and good night.

RP does in fact take place on the RMB, although it can also happen on the forums.

Gee, sure would be nice if people sought clarity before accepting the first thing said to them as the answer to their question. :I

Sorry friend. How does the stat system work?

Stat system? I am drawing a blank here, not sure we have officially recognized stats. Can you clarify what it is that you're asking?

*We interrupt this conversation to bring this bulletin*

If has their administrative divisions set up and wants their timezones to reflect on that instead of what I have laid out, just TG me and something could be worked out.

I still will not be giving people one timezone if they have more than 3 by default. :I

*Now this conversation may continue*

Or not. Just go quiet.

Claiming Sector 2315

People started gathering for the trek over the border into the new sector. There were troops there to act as security even though there was no contact with the natives when colonising sector 2215. So the Security force was smaller in size than normal. Once we crossed the border into sector 2315. The Surveyors immediately set out once camp was set up and started cataloging flora and fauna. Most were the same as in 2215 with some differences.

Troops have a perimeter set up by the time the surveyors get back to start more in depth analysis on the new organisms that have been found. The geological teams have not found any suitable mining spots yet. But hope to find better material deeper in sector. We are also hoping to find a more permanent place to have the capital of the sector located as well. Right now people are working out of camps and temporary structures till a more permanent place can be found. Food and material shortages aren't a problem due to convoys coming in every week.

The deepest expedition started about 2 weeks after the initial effort. A Talravian security team led by Commander Vaj’ul with his honor guard of pharanx and 2 squads of entheri, Crystal squad led by Captain Threll and Lunar squad led by Captain Pulanda. They also have a squad of Arbitres called mountain led by captain Tik. They are accompanied by a small detachment of Prowlers transports that will also act as fire support in a combat situation. The science team from the Gharvasha District with about 15 people is being led by Overseer Kraun. Along with a group of 20 Karexian geological surveyors led by Analyzer Fausch. Gathered in the most eastward settlement of Karthus to prepare for the journey. The science and surveyor teams had brought along their own transports filled with equipment and miniature labs. While the security squads checked all their equipment so did the science and survey teams while the 3 leaders of the expedition gathered in the town hall to discuss the route they were gonna take and several other logistic problems that could happen.

They left 2 days later on a foggy morning. They traveled for about 5 hours through rough terrain to get to there first stopping point. Everyone got out and started to stretch loosen up stiff joint from traveling. As soon as the stiffness was out of their joints the science and survey teams started to explore and document the area. Security forces started to secure the area and set up listening posts and about 200 feet away in every cardinal direction. The posts were manned by Lunar squad with two at each post and two staying with the other squads. Mountain squad patrolled the perimeter in groups of two and Crystal squad stayed and rested ready to relieve the other squads when the time came. Two hours later the survey and science teams reported back after marking areas of interest. The place was dismantled and stored back in the vehicles for there second of a three part journey. The security teams were the last ones loaded and ready to go after a head count. The convoy started to head more north north west. Looking for a better place to set up a more permanent residence in the sector.

***Day 2***
"We managed to find 9 out of the 15 sensors we had planted last night" reported Captain Threll through the helmet coms. "We think the rest of them were carried out of range by animals" said Capt. Threll.

"Mark the area for later retrieval of the sensors" replied Commander Vaj'ul.

"Commander we also detected some anomalies last night. That we don't think the thunderstorm caused them. We think we are either being followed or something snuck into the camp last night." said Capt. Threll

"Roger that don't tell the scienc and survey teams we don't want them to panic. Tell the others and make sure everyone is ready for anything. And make sure we have nightly guards set up from now on." ordered Commander Vaj'ul

"Yes sir" replied Capt. Threll

Vaj'ul cuts off his comms and sits there in silence thinking.

United space command

1st Naval Flotilla, Special Task Force 23, Flagship USCS Homeward Bound
Naval Commodore Ryloth Seeckt
Sector 2315 ETA - 6h 34m 21s
11:50 P.M.

"Ensign Shraeder, activate fleet-wide coms."

"Aye, Commodore."

The ensign pressed a button and a slow set of three pings sounded out in all 11 ships of STF-23. Across the Task Force, thousands of sailors stopped what they were doing. The ensign grabbed a mic and handed it to Seeckt.

"Attention all hands," the Commodore began, "we will be arriving at Lerodas Sector 2315 in about six-and-a-half hours. We should have contact with the Colonization Department Security Force by then.

"In precisely 28 minutes, all radio communications are to cease. Under no circumstances are you to contact Nova Prime, the CDSF, or another ship by means of radio until I give the order, which will be given when we arrive. Failure to follow this order will result in time in your ship's brig and a court-martial as soon as we return. If needed, you are to use signal lights to contact another ship."

Seeckt took a brief moment, then continued. "Remember the purpose of this mission, sailors. We are not here to conquer. We are not here to invade. We are here to escort our colonists, those whom we have been tasked to protect. We are here to claim what is rightfully ours. If worse comes to worst, you are to treat the enemy with respect. Failure to adhere to this constitutes a violation of Military Protocol 111-A, Section V, and will result in an immediate court martial and extradition to the offended country.

"This is Naval Commodore Ryloth Seeckt, signing off." Seeckt handed the mic back to the ensign, and walked off the bridge. Immediately to his right was a plain door with two USC Marines guarding it. He took out a key and unlocked the door, revealing the Task Force's war room with four captains inside. As soon as he walked in the four snapped off a salute which he returned.

All five officers sat down as Seeckt asked, "Alright. Captain Raleigh, what is the strength of our fleet compared to the enemy forces at the Sector?"

"Currently, we have eleven ships in our task force. Five are Type 45-A variant Class Destroyers, two are Type 45-D variant Class Destroyers, one is a Mitchell-class Missile Ship, one is a Nova Prime-class communications ship, one is a Fortitude-class supply ship and finally, a United Command-class battlecruiser. Initial analysis of enemy forces number their fleet size to maybe thirty ships, Commodore. I highly advise we avoid direct contact," Captain Raleigh responded, "Sir."

Seeckt nodded. "Thank you, I will remember that if conflict arises. Captain Burke, what support capabilities can STF-23 provide to the ground forces?"

"All seven of the Type 45-class Destroyers can provide medium range fire support up to six miles inland with their 100mm guns, Sir. The Type 45-D variants have guided missile launchers sir, but each ship only has five missiles. The Mitchell-class has a large array of missile launchers, but they are all unguided, light missiles that can saturate an area but not pulverize it. The USCS Spirit of Dawn can jam enemy communications to a certain extent, but anything more advanced than radio waves it cannot stop. At that point it can only provide long range communications support with HIGHCOM. The supply ship will resupply our ships as needed and can evacuate up to 1,500 people from the shore if the need arises. Finally, your flagship USCS Homeward Bound can provide heavy gun and missile support, but ammunition is scarce. Only two Lerodas-variant Bunker Busters are on board and the three 150mm guns can only provide two volleys before they run out of ammo. I apologize Commodore, but this operation was unexpected and we couldn't resupply. I highly advise you preserve the firepower until a situation arises."

"I concur with you, Captain Burke. However do note I will not hesitate to show the Corvarion Collective the awesome firepower of a United Command-class battlecruiser."

====
Type 45-A Destroyer - based on the British Type 45 Destroyer, but with only the gun weaponry.
Type 45-D Destroyer - similar to the Type 45-A, but with four guided missile launchers that can store up to twenty missiles at full capacity.
Mitchell-class Missile Ship - similar to the design of the Ticonderoga class cruiser, but solely armed with twenty light unguided missile stations.
United Command-class Battlecruiser - similar to the Kirov-class battlecruiser.

So I was gonna give Franz the map update today for my landmass. Time Warner took a sh*t. Apparently a ton of people in the area can't use cable. It's like they knew I had free time.

Like how do we calculate our military, economy and technology levels?

Aragnok wrote:Like how do we calculate our military, economy and technology levels?

There are no stats for those things. But there are some tools in the Cog welcome wagon that can help you with population and military stuff. As well as other guidelines for how to start out with your nation. If you have any particular questions you can send a telegram to me :)
