While the Texas Cartographer position is open, it does require more than just asking for it. It requires Photoshop or Image-Editing skills to be able to make maps and upload them.

As for being on the Map, there is an entire forum on the offsite called the Texas Land Commission. Requests are made there usually. However, any way of communicating your desires to us is satisfactory. We generally like to collect a few up before dusting off our brushes. There is a 30 Day residency requirement. And, PuppetMasters, do not expect all your puppets to get on the map. We will work with you within reason. * eyes Gig 'Em Aggies with suspicion*

Also, there was a discussion earlier this week, regarding Constitutional matters. The 13 year old Texas Constitution is no longer only on the offsite, it is now pinned above in the World Factbook Entry here.

And, regarding the not-frequently logging-in Secretary of WA Affairs, he is the Founder of one of Texas' oldest allies and we are sure is as busy as we are managing his region, but we, or you, can call on Secretary Kenny any time day or night. He is a most-decorated Resolution author in his own right with at least 6 under his belt, but we lose count. Additionally, Lt. Gov Hiram is also an accomplished Resolution author with at least 4 under his belt as well. These are peeps who know how it is done and can make it happen for you too, but you have to make a start by getting some words on paper first.

In NewTexas Government News, the NewTexas Head Speech Writer, L'il Tex #407966, aka, the former Mr. Ronald Dumptruck, was executed yesterday for eXtreme dereliction of duties. The eager, yet young L'il Tex #859009487, aka Mr. Dane MacMelliwack, eagerly accepted the position and produced the required speech post-haste. It is available for public reading in the Polling Booth offsite. While verbose, the young gun did produce a TL;DR version for those intimidated by a 1,462 word speech. That is all.

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Repeal "Foreign Patent Recognition"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation.

Category: Repeal Resolution: GA#347 Proposed by: Wallenburg

Description: WA General Assembly Resolution #347: Foreign Patent Recognition (Category: Free Trade; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out"...

<see the General Assembly for full text and to vote>

Oh goodie a Repeal! When this one came around in October, 2015, Texans hated it by a vote of 0 for to 8 against. As a nation, we disliked it because it really hurt developing nations and because it says that anything patented in any WA nation for any period of time must be recognized in your nation, meaning that you will have to pay royalties to whoever patents anything in any of some 24,193 member nations. That is bad. As a reminder, the issue here is the REPEAL of the existing law. A vote AGAINST this Resolution means you are in favor of the existing law and do not want it repealed. A vote FOR this Resolution means you want the law off the books. NewTexas will go on record as FOR on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was way up on the last GA vote -- Right to Sexual Privacy -- which was passed after gaining 85.79% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 5 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 3 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were pretty split on that one.

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Tuesday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00am Texas Time on Wednesday the 24th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 1813 Votes AGAINST: 2351

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

I like you New Texas, but with all due respect, quiet a lot of the time in the WA, you tend to vote against what the majority of Texans vote for. I understand and respect that you are free to vote your conscience, but you secondary duty/role is to represent us Texans and our ideals, hence the term "WA delegate". But make no mistake, I completely support your freedom to vote how you see fit, I am just providing food for thought.

New Zach, you have obviously not read any of our WA postings. Please read this for it is on every vote announcement:

We count the votes every time, including your "For" vote on the last vote. We often change our vote based on what Texans say. Our vote counts as exactly one vote when it comes to the count. You can see how every nation voted, determining the WA Delegate vote, on the offsite on over 1175 votes. We even have names to go with the votes. http://z1.invisionfree.invalid.com/Texas/index.php?showforum=84

In the case of Repeals, we vote, initially, based on how Texans voted on the original. On the current one, Texans hated it. Not a single Texan liked it. So we voted For the Repeal of it out of respect for the original vote which clearly indicated no one wanted that legislation.

We cannot be more transparent. We vote how you vote. Shoot, we even count the votes of those who are not even WA in an effort to encourage participation. But, the key phrase in the above is publicly-expressed opinions. If you are not willing to stand up for your vote, then we do not count it.

We appreciate and respect the expression of your, and every Texan's, opinion of how we should vote and have been doing that since 2003. Thank you for making it known. It is valued and we encourage more Texans to do the same.

You are entitled to call me by whatever name you want since its freedom of speech here, ie. "New Zach", but it is considered crude and incredibly offensive in New Zacharianasvillean Culture to shorten the name of our country. So while you are entitled to call us by any name you want, us New Zacharianasvilleans are personally insulted and offended when the name of our country is shortened.

Our humble apology GSPL Zacharias Maximus IV. We replied in haste in an attempt to respond to your concerns quickly. We suspect you may be looking at the WA Votes page: Amongst Texas residents, voting is currently 5-4 (55% For). As we previously explained, those votes do not count as to how we vote as a Delegate. To repeat, if you are not willing to stand up for your vote by publicly expressing an opinion, then we do not count it towards how we vote.

How should we mark you for this GA vote?

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new Security Council Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Commend Lone Wolves United
A resolution to recognize outstanding contribution by a nation or region.

Category: Commendation Nominee: Lone Wolves United Proposed by: Scardino

Description: Forgiving the past misdeeds committed by Lone Wolves United"...

<see the Security Council for full text and to vote>

Commend Lone Wolves United? Really? Um, no. Invaders suck! NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was flat on the last SC vote -- Condemn Gregoryisgodistan -- which was defeated after gaining only 38.96% of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 4 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 2 FOR and 2 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were totally split. We exercised our delegatory tie-breaking power by voting For.

***** State of The Region Address *****

August 21, 2016

Greetings Citizens of Texas!

Texas Elections Voting Week is over. It is our great pleasure to present to the region, the brand new Texas Government!!!

***The Texas Government***

**The Texas Cabinet**

The Governor of Texas - NewTexas
The Lieutenant Governor of Texas - Studly Penguins
The Secretary of Defense of Texas - Amandil
The Secretary of State of Texas - Richard
The Secretary of World Assembly Affairs of Texas - No tv and no beer

**Texas Representative Council**

Clear creek
Gig em Aggies
Green-ville
Trecdom2
United States of Woodward

**Texas Constitutional Update**

Texas Constitution: Article X Amendment - Passed
Texas Constitution: Article XXVII Amendment - Passed

The Great Region of Texas officially issues Congratulations to each and every nation that was elected, that ran, that voted, that viewed these proceedings! These were some great elections as usual. This Trimester, all Cabinet positions were uncontested. That means each and every candidate faced No Confidence all alone. Each and every one of them pulled out the win. It was really no shocker since we had all tried and true candidates with Texas Government experience longer than your arm.

In Texas Constitutional matters, we had a bit of a tricky one that was more housekeeping than actual legislation. It consolidated how vacancies would be handled in any Texas Government office. It passed and two Articles were amended. That is a good thing.

The Texas Representative Council Race was a snoozer. There were only 5 positions open and only 5 candidates! Needless to say, all the incumbents are returning. This is a tribute to their willingness to represent Texas and its citizens as well as being truly representative of the region.

No Confidence was the big loser this Election. They did receive one vote in each of three of the Cabinet races, but that is truly insignificant. It is heartening to see No Confidence coming up short because that means we had a good slate. We are sure it will spur those Cabinet members to step up their game in the next Trimester. The Governor defeated No Confidence resoundingly and it was a relief to see no votes for No Confidence.

Please join us in commending all of Texas for their participation in this Trimester's Election! This Election was light in the participation this Trimester. We do not get how out of 150 some odd nations, only 10 choose to vote. It is kind of sad. The lack of candidates is kind of sad too. However, these jobs all require work, real work, not just role play work, so it is a tribute to those who did run. Texans are still very much alive, yet older, and are a dynamic bunch even after all these years! Kudos!

Big cheers to all the members of Texas Government!

Overall, this has been great fun and a highlight for all Texans. We look forward to seeing how the new freely-elected Government of Texas will make Texas bigger, better and greater than ever! Cheers to The Great Region of Texas!

The Announcement & Party is posted here:

Oops, got one today, but pretty much stopped reading at the TBH flag.

We deleted the above post about invader recruiting because the entire WA populace was targeted as well as the 8 largest invader regions. Seems like The Black Hawks were firing a pretty wide net and showed no loyalty to their own fellow invaders.
