It's been around for a while... ever since the 10 year anniversary, I believe.

It is quite old, but basically you 'challenge' another nation on your WA stats, with a levelling system based on how many points/wins you get and the number of top regional badges you get. Same level challenger = best of 5, if you're higher levelled then you get a bonus handicap over your opponent (2 levels higher means you start the challenge 2-0 up, and the opponent has to win 4 out of 5 to beat you), and if you're lower level, then they get the handicap. The points you get after a win depend on certain things as well, such as a clean victory (e.g. 3-0) and so on.

I believe it was put in for an April Fool's thing.

Mytanar region

Oh hallo Rushmore.

NationStates' 10-year anniversary, actually.

Oh, and in other lolfail news, I found out last week there was a bus funding measure in the RL Salem, OR (what this "nation" is supposed to be a satiric parody of), that went down in spectacular defeat. Well that's the RL Salem for you.

ohnoz! the zombies are coming back and they want to eat our words! quick! someone spurt a speech to expunge these sputtering sphinxes before they spill their sphincter sputs all over our spiffy spick and span spotless sports spanner!

So following the regional officers poll, it seems we had some surprising results. Every option had at least one vote but only two got more than two votes; the most popular was the semi-jokey "just leave all the powers with Eura" option, which got 9 votes, mostly from main nations including a couple who are not very active but are long term established members. The only other popular option was the idea of an elected council, and half of the people who voted for it are puppets from outside of the region and one of them has just quit NS. So I feel like we have only really one popular option, but its a status quo option, and the other voted for option isn't that popular and, of the serious options, is probably the least practical as to be honest we have no real need for an elected council/government. We are not some gameplay or II leviathan. The only thing similar we've ever contemplated is a more IC'ly based Rushmore Union or something which isn't ever going to happen anyway!

Does anyone have any more thoughts on the issue, or will that be all? I think I'm going to go away and have a think about whether or not to act on this poll or not.

Personally, if we are to devolve powers, we only need a few specific appointments, or even just a vice delegate. Anything beyond that is silly.

Well, I wanted a regional council, but pfft, since no one is particularly inclined to care, I now concur with EFL.

none of y'all took this "back to birds" business seriously, but if any office must be opened, nothing more than some minor league third string reserve bench player ought to suffice.

And I vote never to have a pool roll on for more than 2 days... 7 days of looking at polling figures makes me nauseous... *turns on the US Newsfeed and spontaneously vomits*

Kernansquillec

If there is to be any devolution, I don't see any need to go beyond a simple "vice delegate". But it's so much nicer and simpler to live in a totalitarian region under the protection of our dear leader.

No Devolution! One Leader! One Region! One Rsuhmore!

My final thoughts on the topic is in other regions, the regional officers have seemed to simply legitimize already-existing regional governments, and/or let nations that aren't WA nations have delegate-like powers without having to join the WA.

IMHO, if there were any concerns over how the delegate is selected or "executive actions" needed to be taken (i.e., Night of the Long Lymans), there'd already have been grumblings here and/or on IRC. And most of the grumblings lately have been over chess or football/soccer computer games that aren't related to NS. So if what Rushmore is doing isn't broken, why try fix it?

Band Perry references on the Rushmore RMB?! Now I've seen everything!

Migrating ducks

I hope you all can excuse us for the increase in the amount of duck feathers and poo all over your pristine nations, we're just doing our migratory flight over them and don't want to cause any harm. We swear!

Quack!
