I actually think my initial dislike of Seven was because she replaced Kes.

I also had a crush on him. Tuvak was too severe, Kim too whiney, which left Tom as the only attractive+personable man on board. I'm currently watching my way through TNG. Incidentally he is in the series as the progenitor of the character he would later play in Voyager.
