Then Stephen Harper and his Reform bunch turned it into the authoritarian mess it is now after taking it over. Provincial counterparts of the Progressive Conservatives still exist, although not in all provinces. The Alberta PCs are the only ones I'd consider voting for if I lived in that province, if only to keep out the racist and bigoted Wildrose and they somewhat remain true to their name. The Wildrose probably would have won the last election here in Alberta if a few of their candidates hadn't opened their mouths and made racist and homophobic comments. That s**t doesn't fly in Canada, even in "Texas North" as Alberta is sometimes called.
