In my training they used to stand me up in "stumbling mountain" pose, then CO and another guy used to roundhouse kick me into my belly.

Smashed forehands against wood and backhand against rocks. Was painful, but gave good results ;).

I really miss those days.

Everyone I've ever met who was into that 'ignore pain huurgh' gets to the age of 40 and can't wipe their own arse from various injuries or 'broken barriers' as one crippled bloke used to call them. I'm extremely unhealthy but I'm pretty sure they probably did something wrong along the line.

Sounds like you miss actual bodily harm to me....

That isn't harm, that is hardening. It is a standard practice in multiple martial arts, like in traditional okinawan karate that still serves for killing and hadn't became McDojo karate...

I like to look at it like this: Pain is telling me I'm doing something wrong. Use my brain to figure it out and how to do it right.

Yeah years of playing (American) football and rugby, and infantry life, are going to creep up on me horribly by the time I'm 40-45. lol

But you have better stories to tell. I'd rather die young with some sort of legacy or memory left behind than die old with little accomplished.

True! I've nothing if not lived a full life.

This is like every cancerous motivational post on Facebook all rolled into one.

Also I am thinking that as soon as the LORD grants me my health back to join the Territorial Defense.

I am slowly missing this stuff ;).

Trust me, I 100% never post, share or like those. While I have, and we all have, personal opinions - I tend not to share mine for the sole purpose of increasing my social networking reputation because... well... it's pathetic. I know NS is social network, but I feel GD is full of some very likeminded people, and I feel (or hope) the region members don't get hard-ons just because Lamoni liked their RMB post. Regardless of how nice it is when he does :D

Also I'm suffering from a terrible bout of writer's block. :'(

Is that a hint, Stevid? ;) *chuckle*

Oh, I also recently managed to obtain a copy of October 1970's FM 21-76 (Survival), and December 2006's FM 3-24 (Counterinsurgency). I might have to share a few quotes when i'm done reading them.

That's cool dude. I think my favorite one is FM100.5 (82) Operations. That's the one that established Air-Land Battle under General Starry's tenure as head of TRADOC
