The Democratic Republic of Kian01 is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Bill Marr esq with an even hand, and renowned for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 1.976 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Commerce, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ypsilanti. The average income tax rate is 85%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, and Soda Sales industries.

The colors pink and purple are banned from military unit insignia, vanity is considered the fifth cardinal virtue, the Kian01 Enquirer offers weekly cash prizes for 'most blasphemous song, story, or cartoon', and muscular women are banned from competing in sporting competitions. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Kian01's national animal is the Wolverine , which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the K Dollar.

Kian01 is ranked 324th in Balder and 9,762nd in the world for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 67 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
