It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 98%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Automobile Manufacturing, and Tourism industries.

Abortions are routinely performed in Bergenu's hospitals, the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry, the government is notorious for leaving citizens with almost nothing from their inheritance, and the government pours millions of bergs into rehabilitation programs annually. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Bergenu's national animal is the Southern Pygmy Pig, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the berg.
