The Empire of Banjamos is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by The Crimson Empress with an even hand, and remarkable for its parental licensing program. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 7.558 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Angeles. The average income tax rate is 97%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Punitive tariffs protect local industry, priests are being drafted by the church load, wealthy students ride to school past mendicant dropouts, and the "Underwear of Women in Power" issue of The New Angeles Times is sold out. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Banjamos's national animal is the Lemur, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Banjamo Dollar.

Banjamos is ranked 1st in Bohemian Grove and 120,617th in the world for Largest Mining Sector, scoring -5 on the Blue Sky Asbestos Index.
