Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 4.108 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Education and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of New Ark'yon city. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Information Technology, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

The BBI Channel Tunnel project is plagued by delays, young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, Bajireyn is increasingly belligerent on the international stage, and the government helps teach children how to kill a man from six paces. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem. Bajireyn's national animal is the Housecat, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is noexistant, and its currency is the Bajireyn Credit.
