You said multiple times that you all are allies. Now you say that no one has any compulsion to assist fellow nations. What kind of alliance would that be which assist when convenient ? I assumed otherwise and hence the post.
Read The Coalition charter. You, of all people should know the difference. I had told it to you ages ago, when the pact was only limited to two IC posts (and the league didn't exist).

I am assuming your last line was in jest...

OOC: Lol Yeah. Allies expected to help, but are not required to assist in something that violates their conscience.

Catarina was standing in the middle of the bridge, amidst the humming lights of the artificial intelligences and the radar screens.
The wolf.
That's how they called her now. She hated this nickname with a passion. First because she hated it when people compared warriors and soldiers with animals. What was this, an army or a primitive tribe ?
And second because wolf hunted in packs, whereas submarine-hunting was by definition the work of lone units.
Catarina was perfectly aware of the reputation she had. Many people, even in the Tsindrel-Kalian admiralty, saw her as a cold-hearted murderer, a killer, a woman who craved for blood.
Utter nonsense.
She considered herself as a soldier. No more, no less. A professionnal who was ready to use the tools at her disposal the best way she could.
It wasn't her fault, after all, if her tools more often than not included submarines armed with nukes.
Catarina clenched her fists while looking at the radar screens.
The Kamasira had but disappeared of her sensors. Lost in the sea. She perfectly knew Vangelis was not stupid enough to give her a chance. He was perfectly aware of the fact that her ship, the Misara, could wipe the Kamasira in an instant. One error, one torpedo, that's all she needed.
Vangelis was good, she thought, but he didn't have the choice. He was bound to follow the Sangre trench until the archipelagos and the open sea. She just had to pursue him through the underwater canyon and wait for an opening.
She went back to her seat, watching her cyborg crew preparing the submarine for diving.
They were completely oblivious to the fact that two hundreds of their comrades had just died, buried three hundred meters underwater, their lives suppressed in an instant by a torpedo.
One more thing Vangelis had to answer for.

I love how my nation's "infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields." As a black belt in Kajukenbo, it's basically what our training philosophy comes out to.

Notabotia is rebuilding!

We have unsalted the fields and are rebuilding the lost farms. Our offer on the bounty for the rogue Merc scum remains. Also new, Notabotia has favored a new HL, Sara Jerfert.

Her plans include.

*Harsher penalties for crimes both inter and outerrealm crimes.

*Improved relations with the Outer realms, who have proven to be friends worthy of Notabotia notice with their generous and enticing gifts to help in our darkest hours.

*Improved defense budget as well as a new police force that will " inspire both fear and respect " in the huge criminal sphere of Notabotia.

*Improving upon housing condition as well as a rebooted education system. 59 percent of children are homeless in Notabotia and 45 percent have yet to enter any type of professional educational system.

*Reduce hunger to nearly nothing and rebuild and improve it's food and agriculture to higher standards

When asked for comment on the Alexandria pact she was quoted as saying. " It is CRITICAL, that we ally and become fronds with all other realms. Because it is obvious by their many kind actions and assistance they are more then worthy. Under my new administration, we will make Notabotia a new safer kinder nation that will be the envy of many but the friend of all. Thank you and goodnight."

GOOD LUCK SARAH!

The Dryad's hull vibrated as if the ship had been shaked by a giant's hand. Elisabeth felt her heart skipping a beat, but she quickly realised that if she wasn't being crushed by a thousand tons of cold water pouring from a hull breach it meant the submarine hadn't been hit.
She reached for the headphones and started listening. The sea wasn't peaceful anymore. The echoes of a distant explosion were dying beneath the waves.
Something had been hurt, something that sounded like a tree falling down in a forest. Elisabeth closed her eyes. She knew these sounds. She knew what they meant.
Submarine hit. Hull breached. She could hear the engines trying to compensate the sudden flow of water inside the submarine, the ship desperately trying to reach the surface, she could even hear the crew frantically trying to repair the damage.
To no avail, of course. The Shamaris-class submarine had been hit in the front and it was sinking fast. Elisabeth kept the headphones until she could hear the last, desperate attempt of the engines and the crew at salvaging the submarine and, finally, the soft, suppressed sound of the dying submarine hitting the bottom of the ocean.
She stood silent for a minute.
"It almost didn't have a chance. The Kamasira made a u-turn and fired blindly. It was a matter of luck." Uttered the XO.
Elisabeth nodded.
"A U-turn right before entering a trench. The Kamasira's captain might have calculated that with a split-second accuracy. And probably on the fly. This man is good. Real good. And absolutely mad." She sighed. "How many hands aboard the Shamaris-class sub ?"
"I'd say two hundred sailors, counting the cyborgs." said the sonar operator.
"What about the second torpedo ?" asked the captain.
"Missed its target." replied Myriam, the weapons officer. "The second Shamaris dodged it. Impressive manoeuver if you ask me. I didn't know the Shamaris were that nimble."
"Techically they aren't. But Catarina likes to modify her ships. And she knows every nook and cranny of her submarine."
"You think she is aboard the surviving Shamaris ?"
"I'd bet my life on it."
"What is the Kamasira doing ?"
"It just finished its second u-turn and is heading towards the open sea, through the trench. Catarina has fired a torpedo but it has lost its target. She's now pursuing. What do we do ?"
"We stand still until they're both out of hearing range. Then we move. Out to sea. Now we're completely sure the Kamasira is out of their control."

"They're out of range, commander." Said Maria, the XO, while giving a cup of tea to Elisabeth, who nodded.
"Alright. You have the bridge for the next five hours. I'm going to take some rest."
"What's our course of action, commander ?"
Elisabeth drank a bit of tea. She was likely to be the only Isilankan commander to take that kind of beverage aboard. Her mother, who had been a pilot in the Isilanka Air Defense Force, was also known for drinking tea between flights. It was some kind of a family tradition.
"Well." Elisabeth smiled. "Our two friends are going alongside the Sangre trench at full speed. Pursuing them would be a waste of time. No matter what Vangelis wants to do, there's only one place where his submarine can reach open waters, it's the Sangre archipelago. He has no choice but to get here."
"You think he'll follow the Garman line ?" Mentioned the XO. The Garman line was an underwater lane going through the Sangre trench and the Shrine abyssal, a direct line towards international waters. Isilankan submarine commanders knew it by heart. It was the optimal trajectory for a nuclear submarine going from Tsindrel-Kali. The trench and its surroundings where a weird place, full of magnetic anomalies and underwater volcanoes that made detection nigh-impossible. The only real disadvantage was that there weren't a hundred places where a submarine could emerge from the Garman line.
"Probably."
"Which means there will probably be a fleet waiting for him. What are we going to do anyway ?"
"I don't know for now. That's why once we reach international waters, the Dryad will emerge and contact the Isilanka Navy."
"That won't help us knowing what Vangelis is actually up to. If he is a real defector."
"Right. That's why we also need a way to communicate with him."
"If we use a sonar we'll be detected immediately."
"I was thinking of more...unconventional methods."
"Ma'am, I refuse to work with the circle of telepaths. The priestresses have nothing to do aboard a submarine and..."
"Relax. I'll ask for an oniromancer to join the submarine instead."
Maria sighed.
"And that's supposed to reassure me ?"
