I have written a campaign dispatch:

I believe that Forest should represent all Foresters, not just Foresters in the World Assembly. I would love to listen to the thoughts of Foresters that are not in the World Assembly. I propose the formation of a committee of advisors that would not necessarily be composed of cabinet-level ministers. If future Forest Keepers would like to maintain this approach that would be great as far as I am concerned but I am not attempting to establish a permanent committee. Each Forest Keeper should be able to operate within their own style (unless it is contrary to NS rules or the Forest way).

I would also like to bring back cabinet members from previous administrations if no other nations wish to be considered for their positions (except Deputy Forest Keeper because I would like that to be Chan Island with their consent). This/these positions is/are wide open since Canaltia has indicated that they have too many upcoming commitments to reassume their position aside from a final update in April covering the election in addition to other recent events. Thank you for your service Canaltia! As an ambassador to multiple regions, it has been a great relief to have your updates!

I cannot offer tours of the forums because I tend to avoid them but if Deputy Forest Keeper Chan Island wishes to seriously implement those, they will have my full support! Also, I have not been condemned by the World Assembly so Chan Island is definitely worth the consideration of a vote despite their self-identification of their campaign as a “joke”. Additionally, it is worth pointing out that Chan Island has been in Forest since June 2017 while I moved here comparatively recently around the beginning of 2018. Based on that fact alone, I do not consider Chan Island’s campaign to be a “joke”.

You certainly do not have to vote for me but please do,

Also, I would like to remind Errinundera of this portion of our Constitution: "The founder and associated puppets of the founder are not eligible to vote in the elections, and the founder is not to endorse a candidate, except as provided in Clause 4.6." Errinundera listed Mountain ash forests as being eligible to vote. This is clearly incorrect.

I love you Chan but I think this guy would've just bought my vote if I could vote. xD

In the spirit of some political debate and proper campaigning, I have some questions!

1) Is what way do you feel that our regional government presently only represents the WA nations of Forest?

2) What is the role of the council of advisors laid out in your dispatch, and in what way will they remediate the situation in question 1?

3) Do you intend any alterations of the regional officer structure aside from the potential split of VoF in to VoF and FoF?

4) For any new positions, or those altered from before, could you lay out what you anticipate as their job descriptions?

5) More as a suggestion than a question, but by specifically identifying nations to benefit from your election, that creates the impression of a spoils system and vote buying. Might be a bit less déclassé to save the specific beneficiaries until after your potential election, rather than dangling a carrot.

(edit for spelling)

A while back, I shared a song called "When the Earth Stands Still" here, mentioning that my choir was learning it. Well, we learned it, sang it at Choralfest, and won platinum (top honors) for it. So if anyone is interested, I'm linking the video below.

As for the elections, I'm glad to see Turbeaux's campaign dispatch out, and once Chan island announces their campaign, I'll ask more questions, but I have a few for Turbeaux now.

1. What are your views on inter-regional events? I know you helped put on a story-writing one with TRR, so would we see more of that if you were to be elected?

2. To build off of Verdant Haven's 1st and 2nd questions, would the Council of Advisers proposed allow non-WA voting in elections, and if so, would there be a different system to prevent puppet votes in place? I know there are legitimate reasons people don't join the WA, and I would like to see non-WA community members able to vote in elections, so please don't take this as me being against non-WA participation.

3. Would there be more of a push to get ambassadors out to our older embassy regions?

4. Regarding the splitting of the VoF role, what main aspects would separate a FoF role from the WFE editor role if it was to handle more visual aspects?

I also have a question for Turbeaux regarding their dispatch:

1. Concerning the council of advisors, while you said this would not be a cabinet-level ministry, would the council be simply something created only for the duration of your term, or something you see becoming a permanent institution in Forest?

Then, for both Turbeaux, and Chan island, I have some more questions:

1. As I understand, during every Forest Keeper race, the question of Forest's role in NS gameplay always appears. As has been asked in the past, what are your thoughts on the current state of Forest in foreign affairs, and do you believe anything should change? I know there is always a debate over whether Forest should seek to take a larger, or smaller, role in gameplay affairs.

2. Following past scandals in the gameplay community, like the allegations that surfaced against the New Pacific Order only a few months ago, how will you safeguard Forest's neutrality in these conflicts, or do you believe our region should move away from a position of neutrality?

3. Would there be any regions you believe Forest should form a closer bond with? How would you seek to achieve this? Following this, do you believe there are any regions Forest should withdrawal their embassy from?

4. Finally, concerning the "Constitutional Change on Embassies" submitted by Mount Seymour, would you continue to support this change to the constitution? Why, or why not?

Hey! My puppet has voting rights - as "prescribed" by Clause 4.6.

Don't worry. I've never - nor has my puppet - voted or endorsed any nation in any Forest Keeper election. I'm also grateful that I've never had to invoke Clause 4.6. What's more, I want to have a good relationship with whomsoever becomes Forest Keeper. Displaying a partiality isn't going to help that.

1. The whole situation with LUCRA was clearly handled very badly by them, and the government's response to someone posting transphobic and antisemetic stuff on discord was pretty awful. While I doubt that Forest would handle such an incident as badly, do you personally have any thoughts on how to ensure Forest's response to such an incident is robust, or do you feel our current way of doing things is sufficient?

2. Looking forward six months from now. What would you consider a win? Are there any particular things that you feel Forest could be doing better?

3. What would your preferred government look like? Are you planning any major changes in terms of nations or positions? If so, or if not, why?

Hello

TG me if you want anymore

Lord Dominator, Canaltia, and Forest turtle

I briefly introduced myself on discord, but for those who didn't read it I'll do the same here. First things first, I'm not new to NationStates. I've been playing off and on since 2014, so I won't be needing any help navigating the website. I created this nation as my new main because I was feeling over-stressed with school and work, and I just wanted to move away from activity, such as debating regional politics, participating in raids, and among other things that only distracted me from my life outside of the internet. Which is why I moved here, I knew that Forest was much more laid back than other regions. Here I can play the game casually and occasionally participate in discussions, but I don't have to make it a daily thing. Now to introduce myself politically, the best word to describe me is probably just liberal and occasional social democrat depending on the issue (IE, I support universal healthcare and environmental protection/regulation).

Here's my political compass if you care about such a thing (personally I think it's just a meme and doesn't accurately portray ideology)
https://www.politicalcompass.org/yourpoliticalcompass?ec=-4.13&soc=-3.54

Well anyways I hope I will enjoy everyone's company and I always love a good conversation.

Post self-deleted by Verdant Haven.

Welcome aboard, Peigan! Glad to have you joining us here in Forest. We are indeed a more laid back sort of region than many. There definitely is still appreciation for political debate and the like, but it is more spaced out, and tends to occur via multi-paragraph treatises rather than soundbites.

Politics is such complicated thing ! Wish I could understand it.
Do your best for all involved, candidates. For Forest. For NationStates. For everything we believe in.
And whatever the outcome, winner and loser should work together. Surely there are greater issues they agree on. Let the greater causes define your stance.
You can make History, candidates. Make this your finest hour. Thank you

1. Not even going to joke about this one. Bigotry shouldn't be tolerated. That said, our system here in forest seems robust enough, though that is more a credit to our reputation and community that we haven't had to stress test it.

2. I'll consider it a win if Donald Trump eats some humble pie, people go on Mars and something gets done about those dam- oh wait, you mean Forest? Well, a good forest always has a good ambience, and as such pledge to attach a megaphone to every song bird, so that we may hear their beautiful chirps from miles away.

3. My government would operate on a militaristic ying and yang system. Candlewhisper Archive and Lord denominator will be unwillingly (actually saying they want the job will be grounds for disqualification) promoted to be head loggers, responsible for destroying as much of nature as possible. Anyone who wants to join them can, while anyone who wishes to will be promoted to tree troopers, responsible for planting them.

I would also institute an official Cranberry Cransday. Of course, to add a Cransday to the week to accomplish this, Forest will have to abandon the Gregorian Calendar, but the voices in my head say that will be just fine and dandy.

I think it'd rather depend on the desert and how it came to be. If your intensive agricultural practices or utter mismanagement of water have resulted in desertification of whole swathes of formally fertile land, that's clearly bad for the environment. If you just happen to have a desert on the other hand...
