One of the problems is that those things are meant for making money (as in investment), not for day to day trading (like buying grocery).
When you use a currency to buy a drink, you should be able to just give it in whatever the amount needed to the cashier instead of pulling out a calculator and start doing accounting.

*Oh yeah, I am, in no way, an economic expert. Just parroting what I have learned online.
