"Well, now," Lady Zaharra said to the apparition that couldn't see or hear her, "Aren't you interesting?"

Keiyentai stands by the bay view window in his office/throne room over looking the city of Jin Chu-Ne seeing fireworks and seeing the lights of his citizens celebrating the new year while he enjoys his mead. He walks back to his desk and opens a program on his computer looking at the four screens each running something different. "Now lets see if I can get this FTL drive closer to being done" he peers over lines of code and occasionally scratches his head then perks his head up briefly and looks around with a simple "huhm. So much code..why can't interstellar travel for ships be easier" he chuckles and continues his work in to the morning."

A tall man walks in holding a tablet "Sir reports from the probe we launched are in. All systems are at 100% and speed is climbing to 23M/S and the prototype engine should be charged enough in a week if systems stay current".

Keiyentai looked up and smiled "Thank you for the report. Please inform me if anything changes." he looked back at the his monitors and continued to code on one and read a stream of information on the others.

FINALLY. I got the image working. This deserves a celebration in the form of hating my stupidity because the answer was really obvious. So Daniel has an image now

Tubbius the Bulbous has gotten up briefly to use the restroom and fetch a drink. On His way back, a drowsy Mrs. Tubbius squeaks out a yawn, reaches a hand to caress a quivery hip, and hrmingly beckons The Gluttonous Grandpa of Treadwellia to return to bed. She misses Her jelly-bellied ball of a husband and His ample warmth!

Good luck. I hope you don't have to work in an actual graveyard.

(Years ago)

Daniel walked out of his bedroom. His parents have called him and his siblings to breakfast. He arrived at the table and sat down. The servants quickly put a plate of food. His siblings arrived not long after. His parents were quiet and ignoring him and his siblings. His younger brother and sister were quietly talking trying not to be too loud to keep their parents' displeasure away. His parents were questioning him about his school work. He placidly answered. Little emotion and inflection. Too much and Mother might think he's being sarcastic and set Father on him. Too little and Father might think he's disrespecting Mother.

He keeps their attention on him and away from his siblings. Breakfast ends and they are all dismissed. He leads his siblings to their rooms and closes the door behind them. They immediately start talking and going on and on about some fantasy game. He smiles a genuine smile and eagerly engages them. His younger brother is very tentative but quickly starts going on about his favorite character. His younger sister starts babbling on about her friends and boys and random stuff. He nods and agrees at the right points. He could listen to them and be with them all day. He settles them down and puts on a movie that he stole from his parents' room. His sibling's eyes lit up and he couldn't wait to put it on.

Later, he hears Father roaring for his little brother. He tells his sister to stay here and takes his brother downstairs.

His father is angry. Little brother has not been keeping to the family standard in grades. Father storms towards his brother and knocks him out of the way. He slams his head into the wall and blacks out. When he comes too, he is in his bed and his siblings are curled up next to him. His brother is bruised. His blood boils. This is not the first time something like this has happened to them. It will be the last. He is going to kill the wretched trash known as Father then he'll kill Mother for allowing and even encouraging the behavior. But for now, he pulls his siblings in closer and falls asleep.

He needs his strength for the murder. His path is set and he will not falter.

(Today)

Daniel startled out of bed. What was that? Why is he thinking of old memories now? He shook his head then laid back down. It was late and he was tired. How peculiar. There is an odd feeling his chest. He made a mental note to find out what happened to his siblings.

Y'all have any new years traditions? My grandma is really into the southern black-eyed peas thing. :P Gotta have it at dinner or you aint doing it right!

Essential traditions on New Years Eve are lighting fireworks and watching Dinner for One (Google it, it's a British sketch from the 1960s that has become a cult classic in Germany and the Nordic countries).

On New Year's Day we used to watch the Neujahrskonzert (New Year's concert) of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on TV.

Why would anyone with a desk job be working on January 1st? In my country this is the day were really everything is closed and nobody except police, fire and rescue services and healthcare professionals have to work (luckily, while belonging to this group, I don't have to work today).

Edit: only no saw your post that you are working at a hotel. Now it makes sense...

Alright. Every single country and territory in the world is now in the year 2020! So...

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

-----

And btw, if you're among those people who are wondering which country/countries celebrates the new years first, I'm here to tell you just that.

Samoa and Kiribati (Eastern part only) are the first countries to celebrate the New Year. Both countries have a time zone of GMT +14.

Meanwhile, the last territory to celebrate the New Year is the US State of Hawaii, with a time zone of GMT -10.

While the Baker Island (Time Zone: GMT -12) would have been the last territory to celebrate the New Year, it is uninhabited. So that is why Hawaii is the last to celebrate New Year.

Below are some time comparisons of the GMT +14 time zone.

Samoa and the Eastern part of Kiribati is...

- 3 hours ahead of Sydney, Australia (Time Zone: GMT +11 if DST is observed, which starts on first Sunday of October and ends on first Sunday of April | GMT +10 if DST is not observed)

- 6 hours ahead of China, Singapore, Philippines, and Western Australia (Time Zone: GMT +8)

- 10 hours ahead of Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Time Zone: GMT +4)

- 12 hours ahead of South Africa (Time Zone: GMT +2)

- 14 hours ahead of London, England (Time Zone: GMT 0)

- 17 hours ahead of Argentina (Time Zone: GMT -3)

- 19 hours ahead of Washington, DC, USA (Time Zone: GMT -5)

- 22 hours ahead of Los Angeles, California, USA (Time Zone: GMT -8)

- 24 hours ahead of Hawaii, USA (Time Zone: GMT -10)

- 26 hours ahead of Baker Island (Time Zone: GMT -12)

Keiyentai now drinking coffee stairs at his monitors and lines of code. He opens a 3D model of another probe awaiting launch and goes over the final specifications. The Rising Star probe will attempt to strengthen the communication abilities will all probes sent by Chenzoizia as well as allowing other nations in Lazarus if they choose to do so.

The Chenzoizian Deep Space Network is open to take messages from any nation who has a working space program and is interested in helping or would like more.

(OOC Same about here. Wake up, have breakfast and watch the New Year's concert.(1) Although with some regret it seems I dozed in the middle. It is not compatible with being at a New Year's Eve party and waking up early.

(1) The Concert it is transmitted through Eurovision (yes, the one with the Te Deum of Charpentier as a intro), so it is easily available on the public national broadcasters and in Internet.

For example.

(The Vienna, New Year's Concert from RTVE (Spanish Radio and Television Corporation). I don't know if there is geographical restrictions.)

Surely there would be other links available in English and other languages in other channels).

With it being the start of a new year, Tubbius has declared today to be a Tubbian Wide Wednesday, wherein minimum clothes and maximum indulgence in food, drink, and relaxation are mandatory. Of course, people are permitted to dress appropriately to deal with the endless snowfall outside, but otherwise, today is a day of showing off the blessedly baggy bodies all Tubbians possess. Thus are The Two Tubbies setting the example in Their lavender TubBras and the Tummy Slings worn over underwear. The Tummy Sling is not only fashionable, but it also offers some support for one's great middle!

On Tubbian television, newscasters are similarly dressed, and reminders go out every half hour about the holiday. By the end of The Breakfasts, Tubbians everywhere are down to almost nothing as They upload praises to Tubbius along with pictures emphasizing their ample bodies to social media.

A missionary group enters New vedan They began roadside preaching. "Brothers and Sisters. We have come to preach the word of the Divine Apostle. Not only are your people a grand people but your leader is prophesized to be one of the Holy Seraphs. Kamreon is a stalwart friend to Glorious Society and praise to him. The Divine Apostle has shown his favor and considers New Vedan a holy place." The missionaries move through town to town singing the gospel of the Divine Apostle Daniel and His friend The Holy Seraph Kamreon. After preaching and leaving Religious texts for those interested, they leave and depart for Glorious Society.

Edit: The Holy Seraph role is a ceremonial role in the new religion stating that this figure is essentially going to be canonized after death and in life is a figure worthy of worship and friendship

Hi, reminder that I still exist. In light of my spotty activity, I'll try to keep expectations rather low for my activity in the region. I'll try to get around to that newspaper article sometime though
