He sighs. "I just want you to know, you cannot tell anyone in Herhai about what I am going to ask you." "Yes?" the woman says as she clamps her dress in her hand. "I killed-" "Oh my goodness," the woman said in disbelief. "Just listen to me, ma'am. I killed the diplomat, and I am here to talk to you about supporting the civil war, and an alliance to help us out." She nods her head. "I didn’t know you guys were in a civil war?" "We have been. For thirty years. It’s one of the government’s best-kept secrets. During the ride here, the Supreme Leader was killed and replaced by his son. In the media, he talked about escalating and invading us. We need help from him, will you help us?"

“Thank you milady. I don’t think you would mind sending me back, North of Elrise.” “Oh, I think I could arrange something for you.” The Lady Suhai said in a gleeful tone. “Thank you. I’ll call when we’re ready to Mack off the war.

The diplomat hops onto a Huyang planes and flies back to the capital of the Herhain Republic.

Secrets made, secrets kept.

Seventeen kilotons of explosive materials packed into a ten foot long body. It was beautiful. So beautiful that Kim Go-Sun started to cry. It was pure steel, and the testing would be done in only a few hours. It was enough to make half a city nonexistent. Imagine what it could be used for. You could bomb nations into submission, threaten others, and take out those pesky revolutionists. For thirty years they have been sitting on the border, waiting for the other to strike. But this will be the tiebreaker. This nuclear weapon will invoke fear in them and scare them into surrendering.

Go-Sun was sitting, socializing, and admiring the magnificent bomb until the time had come to test it. The front lines of the war have been silent for most of it's existence, but that was about to change. A crew of men were riding in a bomber with the weapon in the bottom compartment. Soldiers that were on patrol were confused. They haven’t seen a plane from the Empire in ages. "Three, Two, One!"

The bomb has been dropped.

The bomb was dropped on a rice farm a mile away from the front lines. The men were shocked as a mushroom cloud engulfed the sky, and as trees, weakened by the roots toppled over. It was the scariest thing they had ever seen. No one knew they were capable of this.

Earlier that morning, the first test of the nuclear bomb had been completed. It was successful, and because of its proximity to the front lines of the Federation, they had every reason to fear. Kim Go-Sun was the one who was originally behind the whole initiative, keeping it secret for years before his father died. He was eager to get the project done as soon as possible, with no halts in spending. This nuclear project had been the government's most financially demanding project. The economy, for the past few day had been turning for the worst. Buying prices for the nation's only company have lowered, and the selling prices have skyrocketed. The Won had inflated by two percent in the very short time. The Empire of Herhai, even with the nuclear bomb, was in fact at a disadvantage. The United Federation of Herhain Powers had allies, something that they have none of. This was going to be a tough fight, but a sure win for the Empire.

A week of waiting later, a new nuclear device had been constructed. Twenty-one kilotons of glory, and it was to be dropped right in the middle of the city of New Elrice, named after the city of Elrice, which was named after the royal family of the remnants of the Taiom Kingdom. The Empire had condemned the Elrise royal family in their conquests in the early 1900s. When they stormed Elrise, the family had fled to the Northwest of the country, which was in the place of the Federation. They supported the royal family, unlike the others. The Empress, Elrise Susie had actually taken a place in the Upper House of Parliament, and has become the Prime Minister in the election the year before.

The bombing of New Elrise was about to go underway. The bomber, aided by five jet fighters, was precious cargo. A nuclear bomb. It was to be protected at all costs. The Federation had seen the test bombing right outside of their borders and was well informed of it. They didn’t yet want to fight, even with the militarist attitude of the Empress, and Prime Minister Miss Elrise. As the bomber made its first pass over the front lines of the conflict, which were still quiet as the Federation had not made any orders to fight. Fortunately for the Empire, the bomber didn’t get receive even a second glance. It advanced across the farmland and plains relatively quietly. All until it made it to the Capital, New Elrise.

A few people saw the bomber and reported it. The military quickly sprang into action, firing anti-air missiles at the bomber. The mission was soon completed, but seconds before the plane lost control and spun into the ground-

A nuclear bomb was dropped on the city of New Elrise.

The fireball engulfed buildings and eradicated civilians. All while a mushroom cloud started to loom over the city. You could hear the screaming from a mile away. The Government elite had in fact fled to bunkers beneath the city with many others that needed help. The casualties were low, but is was a large stain on the Federation.

The dropping of a nuclear bomb on New Elrise spread shock throughout the Federation Herhai.

It had been seven hours since the blast, yet men and women stayed in the base, few went outside to go and explore. The city would be uninhabitable for the next two years.

Elrise Suzie, the Empress and Prime Minister was led into a furnished auditorium that could seat two hundred. He had prepared a speech in the last hours. The Federation's engineers had also created a system that could broadcast their television and radio signals to homes in the Empire. Soon in the Federation and the Empire, thousands of televisions went black, and radios went silent and played the anthem of the United Federation of Herhain Powers. After the song was wrapped up a voice said, "Now a broadcast from Elrise Susie, Empress and Prime Minister of the United Federation of Herhain Powers." The woman entered from the left side of the stage wearing a baby blue kimono and stood at the podium. She took a deep breath and gave the following message.

"Today was a frightening day. The Empire of Herhai has used a nuclear weapon on our capital city. We cannot allow this. We will take drastic measures to make sure they get what they deserve, and crumble that filthy nation they call an Empire.

Thousands of people, dead in five minutes. We cannot live in our city for the next thirty months. We cannot allow this. In retaliation, we will be sending more armed troops to the border, and take back the freedom of the ones you live in poverty.

I hope you feel good about yourselves."

The screens and radios went black, and the regular programming was restarted. Exactly thirty-eight minutes later, a transmission arrives from the Huyang Isles, the Federation's closest ally. It read,

"To transmitter 2821673, The United Federation of Herhain Powers

Hello! We in the Huyang Isles have overseen the incident in your capital city. We are currently starting the production of basic necessities for war with the Empire of Herhai.

Signed, The Government Of Huyang Isles."

Naturally, the Federation is thankful for such a gift from the Isles. Now, was a discussion of plans for the war.

An agreement between admirals of the Army had come up with a plan, They were to launch an offensive into the South of the Federation, Northwest of the Empire. The ultimate goal was to advance and take Elrise, on the West coast. Elrise was a major port city, and crucial for the Federation. If they were to capture the city, it would be a major win. They were to immediately set up the Government in the city in hopes of becoming more stable.

The plan was set in stone, and it was to be executed the very next day.

Noon of the next day came, and an army consisting of three divisions of men, aided by armored vehicles the Federation had received during deals with other nations. They were walking slowly down to the front lines of the conflict. Fighting had not started yet, but it was about to. A man in an allied watchtower soon yelled out the call to attack. Bullets flew from the Federation's guns, signing the start of military action that hasn’t been seen for thirty years. The Imperial forces unfortunately did not expect the Federation to invade from the South, but rather the North. The order is called for the Empire to advance West into enemy land. The situation was the same there, but in the favor of the Empire. Here they outnumbered them. The Federation was ordered to dig into the ground, and to start barraging the opposition with supplies of chlorine gas. The Empire was now forced to dig into the ground, and try to shield themselves from the barrage.

Meanwhile, in the South, the Federation was doing very well. They had advanced at least a mile through the other forces. Now it was just a mad dash down the coast. They drove through rice farms, yam farms, and work camps. Whenever they would see one of these camps, they would recruit the slaves, and people tired of the Empire’s rule over their lives. They armed at least one hundred men and women to work for the cause.

After a whole day of marching, the fortified city of Elrise loomed in the distance. It was filled to the brim with soliders. The Federation's men were ordered to surround the city, and work their way into the Royal Palace. The Empire's men fire shots. The Federation fires back. The watchtowers surrounding the city are packed with guns, never mind the port in the city. It was the only major port in the entire Empire. After the watchtowers were dealt with, the army marched right into the city. They shot at soliders and saved children until they made it to the Palace.

All the Enemy troops were taken as POWs or killed in battle. There was an abundance of military gear in the city, and the rearmament process began. The Government was to be placed in the palace, and an offensive would begin Eastward.

The nuclear project had taken enormous amounts of money from the Empire of Herhai. The entire nation was spiraling into a crisis. The economy was 100% controlled by the government, and they had to decide what to do. The Economics Key called a meeting on what to do about the situation.

After the meeting was over, the Supreme Leader stood at a podium and delivered a speech.

"Hello, people of Herhai. Our economy is doing bad. We will again be raising the selling prices and lowering the buying prices. This may sound like much, but in these times,

Drastic measures are to be taken."

Life fighting on the Northeastern front was not pretty. Especially if you were on the side of the Empire.

They had to deal with chlorine gas being dumped on them, and shell being emptied into them. This was trench warfare. An art that had not been used for a long time.

By the time the war started, the Federation had only gained half a mile. This was typical of trench warfare. It is long and excruciating. You just want it to stop.

The Empire was losing men to the chlorine and the shells. They could not fight back. Their forces were a third of the size that they were when the fighting started. Yes many died, but many also retreated to fight for the cause of the Federation.

These men who ran over were either shot by loyal soldiers from the Empire or taken and armed by the Federation. They would be given a warm welcome, then questioned, then started to fight of the side of the Federation. The same was done for men from the Federation running to the Empire.

Yes, this is life fighting on the Northeastern front.

The Federation took Elrice, they were winning on the Northeastern front, and an offensive was planned to take action the next day. They were ready to move East. Large amounts of soliders took flight from the newfound capital and marched through the rice fields and countryside. The Empire had little to no intel on the Federation, and vice versa.

The Prime Minister, and Empress of the Imperial Federation of Herhai walked into the backstage of an auditorium. The cameras start rolling, and she enters from the left blue curtain. She positions herself, straightens her sage suit, and takes a deep breath.

"This war is in our favor. The economic crisis in the Empire has put tremendous strain on the competence on their military. This means that they cannot threaten us with nuclear weapons. This means that we are cleared to launch an offensive down the eastern side of the country from Elrice in the morning. Therefore, the Empire is weak.

This gives us an advantage."

A long, sleepless night passes over Herhai. Elrice is sleepy. There are not many lights on, and the ones that are on dazzle the skyline. In military bases, soliders are sitting in barracks waiting to get in the trucks that will soon carry them over the countryside. They are armed with guns and ammunition, vests and helmets. The few tanks are armed, and men are stowed. It is time to carry across the nation. Hangar doors open, vehicles roll out. They dive and march for miles where they were met with no force.

Until they came up to Tiananmen, a city 200 miles from Formosaa, the Capital of the Empire.

Little did they know, this would be the bloodiest battle of the war.

They came upon the city, it looked exactly like Elrice, lightly guarded with minimal defences. A group of fifteen out of the two thousand men were called to shoot at the defences. This was a fatal mistake as the second they fired, hellfire rained down upon them. Shells blasted out of the guns of newly appearing soldiers from the Empire's side. It was clear they had never seen a battle like this in their lives.

But the Empire had. They trained on live targets.

Gunfire went on for hours. Soldiers climbed walls, ran past forts, until the battle spilled into the city streets. People screamed as their families fell at the mercy of soldiers from both sides, the windows of shops, restaurants, and homes were shot at and broken in the fighting. Bodies littered the ground until finally, at two A.M. the next day when the remaining two hundred soldiers from the Empire surrendered to the Federation's five hundred.

When this information came to the government in Elrice, They were shocked. An hour later, Elrice Suzie ran to the pedestal as the cameras started rolling. She let out a sigh and started talking.

"This is a horrible day. Thousands of our soldiers died today in Tiananmen. After the bombing, this was the worst event in the history of that Empire. I cannot stand this anymore. We. Yes we! As a nation need to stand up! And stand up strong. We cannot allow this blatant misuse of military force to be used! Expect an invasion of Formosaa in the next three weeks."

A tear rolls down her face then she walks out of the theater.

Tiananmen was taken in a brutal battle, one of the worst in Herhain history. Worse than when the Empire slaughtered thousands on their crusade across the modern day Herhai.

There were not many traditional battles in the civil war, mostly just raids of cities. This gave the soliders more leeway on where the war was going.

Meanwhile, on the Northeastern front, the battles had come to a stop. After a whole month of fighting, the soldiers received word from Formosaa that it was time to come up with an unconditional surrender, and they did. All were taken as prisoners of war, and those that defected to the Empire’s side were charged with treason against the Federation.

Later in the day, Elrice read a letter from Formosaa written by a military admiral.

"This war has been hard for both sides.
But, I have to admit that you have bested us.
Formosaa has came to a conclusion.
The trench battles in the East have
been devastating,
the loss of Elrice has ruined the economy,
and many lives from both sides were
lost during the taking of Tiananmen.
For these reasons, the government in
The Empire of Herhai has agreed to
bring an unconditional surrender
to the table."

Elrice Susie, as usual did not want any more people killed, so the decision was reached to accept the unconditional surrender. In the rest of the night, a treaty was developed.

Treaty of the Herhain Civil War

The Empire of Herhai has agreed to an unconditional surrender to the Imperial Federation of Herhai, these are their terms.

The Herhain Fascist Party shall be disbanded.

All land owned by the Empire of Herhai shall be annexed to the Imperial Federation of Herhai.

The City of Formosaa shall be patrolled for the next thirty years.

After the treaty was signed the next morning, the Empire of Herhai was no more. The war was over. There were parades in the streets of Elrice, and just about every other major city. People cried tears of joy as soliders went home to see their families. It was a wonderful day as Elrice Susie went up to a podium in the middle of the Elrice City Square and said,

"We have victory. The Empire has been defeated. Now, to show the world what we're made of!"

Kim Go-Sun walks up right next to Elrice Susie and kneels down as a man gives her a golden six-shooter gun. She points it a Go Sun's head and fires a round into him. He drops dead on the floor as the crowd cheers and she says her final words of the night,

"The Empire is dead, move on."
