My motto originates in a contest where we were asked to change our mogtto to reflect our positive attitude towards Refugia, and it fitted well with the jolly nature of our nation.

So if you don't spend much time in the SC forum, good on you for making smart decisions. You might not have noticed a little thread about a proposal to Commend Portugal. This draft was put forth by Alentejo and Algarve, and aimed to commend the Portugal region of which they are the executive delegate. It was submitted without asking for feedback, marked as illegal twice, and generally seen unfavourably. In response, Alentejozinho and Algarvezinho put up this very snarky proposal to condemn Alentejo and Algarve for going against the SC grain. They claim to be two separate players; I don't believe them. Regardless of identity, this is more of a middle finger to the SC establishment than a genuine effort to recognize any achievement or actions, and it's baffling to me that Tinhampton requested it be brought to a vote.
As the recently elected "CWAA!", I'd typically want to stimulate some discussion and then form a written opinion prior to the vote. But given the frivolous nature of this referendum and its unexpectedly reaching quorum, I'm recommending against this proposal. There's room for humour in the SC, but not like this.

Nat sums it up pretty dang good, but in addition, the author has actively flamed and insulted the SC and members of it and has personally made 3+ threads go way off topic and generally turn super toxic and awful. I have 0 respect for them and besides just the absolute garbage that is this proposal, I doubt I’d be for if it was good either

I've been watching this progress through the SC forum and it's just been one long train of toxicity. Beyond that, the author took their anger about Commend Portugal not going well far beyond just this proposal, to the point of being officially warned by the mods for being toxic. It's in bad faith, it's not terribly funny, and the author has been behaving awfully.
I'll be voting against this the second it's up for vote.

Well put. There have been many joke proposals, both floated and passed before. In the last year, there was Condemn This Game and the attempt to Condemn Deruuu. This, however, is not remotely in that style of proposal; it is immature and self-serving, apparently pushed to make a political statement, and generally written to be an all around bad time.
As the winter gently increases our heating charges, may the kindling of this burning resolution warm our hands. Will be voting Against.

The purple symbolizes the old monarchy, the blue is for the new republic, the cyan for the ocean surrounding Laisou and the star for liberty.

It's my IRL country's flag. The red symbolises "universal brotherhood and equality of man", and white symbolises "pervading and everlasting purity and virtue". The waxing crescent moon represents a "young nation on the ascendant". The five stars stand for the nation's ideals of "democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality"

Hey Refugia,
Today, I bring you some exciting news from the Culture office, which I have been recently informed that I seem to run. We've had a number of different flags over the past two years, from arcane runes and Celtic knot patterns, to the more recently recognisable blue leaf and stars design. So naturally, I'm all about wanting to mix things up again for a little while. There's a lot of you awesome designers out there with ideas of your own about how the world should look and I want to apply that to Refugia. So, let this post mark the beginning of Refugia's first flag competition. From now until the end of the day Pacific time, on Thursday January 7th, I'm calling on any Refugia resident to create their own idea of a Refugia winter flag.
You do not have to use any part or component of the current Refugia flag or previous Refugia flags. The only requirement is that it is winter themed and carries what you feel is the Refugi spirit. When you have a flag that you're happy with, you may send this flag to me for submission. At the end of the day on Thursday January 7th, I will begin a poll on 
Vote.CalRef where you can vote for your favourite entry. The poll will conclude at the end of the day on Sunday, January 10th and the top three flags by order of preference will be used as Refugia's official regional flag for one week each.
You can elect to submit your flags publicly or privately.
Gameside submissions: Upload your flag to an offsite image service. Send the link to me in a telegram, OR post the link on the regional message board, and tag me so that I definitely see the entry.
Chat submissions: DM me your flag submission (Luca#0004), OR post the image to Feu de Glace Hall and ping me so that I definitely see the entry.
When the submissions have been received, accepted, and prepared, they will be added to this dispatch for both posterity and as a way to easily check which vote is connected to what flag. Residents may submit between one and three flags, and all flags that are submitted by residents while under this limit will be considered valid.
