Tilly, I can see your anger, but what choices were we given in this election? The only choices were were given were to vote for the lesser of two evils or abstain. Those who saw both candidates as equally vile had no choice. Were they to relinquish their personal beliefs and ideals and support someone who is repugnant to them? Granted, they could have written in a candidate, but that would amount to the same thing as not voting.
Soph, did you not vote at all in the election or just the Presidential aspect of it?
I tend not to listen to the pundits or the biased new media, but base my support of a candidate on his/her record and how that fits into my perspective. I can see both Tilly's and Soph's points of view in this matter. I feel that more qualified candidates were dismissed by their respective parties either overtly or covertly. For better or worse, we're stuck with what we have until the next election when, hopefully, better candidates are put forth.

It was a choice between someone with a shady past, and someone who was not only actively corrupt, but cultivated hate and caused people to distrust the system by which they operate.
At least two trans* people have committed suicide because they did not wish to live in a country that has so many people willing to vote in a manner that furthered their oppression.

...Well, they were made. But none of them make sense unless one legitimately believes that being in a minority group genuinely makes one of less value.

*sighs* What can I say, but perception is reality to the beholder. It's a proven fact that two people, be they husband and wife, siblings, or complete strangers can view the same evidence or happening and arrive at totally opposite conclusions. As in the case of this election, one group champions one candidate and vilifies the other while another group has opposite views.
My main concern is with the Electoral College electing the President, not the people. While the people may elect the electors, there is no way that they can control the voting of the electors once in office. The only way that they can achieve any control, is after the fact by turning the electors out of office when their term expires.
I voted.
And now I'm picking up the work again - of writing to congressmen, senators, governors, mayors, councilmen, and reminding them that I do not want discrimination. I want LGBT right. I want minority rights. I want women's rights. It feels like a neverending battle, but it's one we need to fight. It's just I feel so tired right now.
I feel so disenfranchised by the state of affairs in this country. I've tried writing to various elected officials and all I get in return is a form letter, even on the local level. So what's the point of caring. :(

That remains to be seen. We can only hope for the best and wait until the next election to change the Congress if our hopes are dashed. I know that there will be a fight over affordable health care.

oh i have Wednesday and Thursday off this week! so I'ma be drunk for Thanksgiving. And the best part is I was already scheduled off that day but still get holiday pay for it! so this week I work 4 days and get paid for 5!
