Hey guys. This is a project that I've been kicking around for a couple of weeks now, and actively planning towards for the last few days. Similar in concept to other 'sandbox' style roleplay settings, Portus Altus is designed to house multiple roleplays for a variety of nations and races in FT-Prime (specifically located near the border with Delta Quadrant, coreward in Gamma, the design is such that wayfarers from all over the galaxy can settle in). Feel free to pop over and have a look; pretty much anyone is welcome to join, so long as your nation or species doesn't consume or destroy any and everyone else wantonly. Might have a tough sell opening a storefront then. =)
And once again I'm unsure which poll option my nation would fit into. Technically speaking the majority of the star community's inhabitants are transhumans, but the species as a whole has changed quite a bit compared to their human ancestors, to the point where some would effectively consider them transhuman aliens. There's also a number of other species who joined the star community as a whole, as well as members of different species who became citizens of Genomita. And then there's the occasional human who wishes to undergo full augmentation/alteration into a full-fledged genomitan. Which is not required to become a citizen, mind you, but it certainly broadens one's horizon.
Sounds like human to me. Might be somewhat different but that doesn't mean they can't be reasonably considered human (and if you can call them transhuman... well, human is still in the name, isn't it?) Same evolutionary history. We would categorize them as panhuman like many, many others.
I think the biological definition of a species is that if members can reproduce with each to provide fertile offspring, then they are members of the same species. So I suppose it depends on how much goes on at the genetic level.
A human being with prosthetic limbs is still human. So I'd say it really comes down the DNA.
Just noting from the poll: "...'xeno' will describe anything which is presumed to be capable of meta-cognition (or self-awareness [...] which is not human, transhuman (H+), post-human, or otherwise a descendent, relative, sub-species, etc. of the 'Homo sapien' clade."
So, really, I'd classify them, for the sake of this poll, as "human".
