Any thoughts on the new WA resolution for more study on ecosystems and crap like that?

Indian Empire and New wuh

**** New WA Resolution Notification *****

There is currently a new General Assembly Resolution at vote. When expressing your opinion, please note which Resolution it is for. And remember Texans, your individual vote does count!

The new Resolution is called:
"Researching Unique Ecosystems
A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity Area of Effect: Educational Proposed by: Caracasus

Description: Encouraged by the ongoing efforts of the"...

<see page=ga for full text>

Well, we threw the WA a bone on the last touchy-feely General Assembly Resolution, but no más. We love Flora (and her freaky sister Fauna) as much as the next guy, but we are not Lewis and Clark. We are not going to possibly derail the wheels of progress by a bunch of explorers in pith helmets telling us they think they know where a bug is. That is not to say we won't make a "good faith" effort on our own, but we are not going to do it under legislation from the World Assembly. NewTexas will go on record as AGAINST on this Resolution. This is only the opinion of NewTexas. We look forward to other Texans' opinions and comments on this Resolution. If good arguments to the contrary are made, we will reconsider our position.

The Texas response was up on the last GA vote -- Proscription on Living Shields -- which was passed after gaining % of the vote. As a reminder, all we are looking for is a simple 10% of Texans to say one way or another. We are a force for change in the WA. Every vote counts! There were 6 publicly-expressed opinions on the last Resolution with the final Texas tally running 6 FOR and 0 AGAINST and 0 ABSTAIN and 0 UNDECIDED. Texans were unanimous! Yay!

NewTexas has already voted on this Resolution in advance of publicly expressed opinions. We did this at the urging of many leaders in the World Assembly. As we have been saying for years, Texas is a force in the WA. Many feel that Texas can influence the overall vote if it votes first. There is an observed "lemming effect" that occurs during voting. Apparently a large number of votes are cast based on whichever side of the issue is leading when voters vote. Therefore, to get the most impact from our vote, we are now voting first. We will re-evaluate our original vote at midnight prior to the current vote. As always, we are open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. Comments are welcome from all nations, both WA Members as well as those who are not. Please make your voice heard on the current issue either on this message board or on our offsite message board. But, by all means, please vote on the WA Page!

If you would like to take part in shaping the world you live in, please vote. Voting is a right and a privilege, please consider using it. And, if you are not a member of the World Assembly, we strongly encourage you to join.

All WA Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known in Texas by 11:00pm Friday and in the World Assembly voting booth by 11:00am Texas Time on Saturday the 10th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 5176 Votes AGAINST: 1450

Big Tex

PS: Remember, be sure to vote at the World Assembly too!

Mmm, just got a declaration of war, we've just invited the entire population to spend their holidays here, nice weather, lush forests, long clean beaches and music everywhere. Perhaps they might even move to my country, they're only 10 million anyway.

How can we help?

Indowastan

No help is required, we've got plenty of hotels, hostels and bed and breakfasts for a few million tourists extra. I've sent the dear respresentative of the nation in question a warm invitation to spend their holidays in Dennisov. They might even opt to stay and become citizens, who knows.

This makes me wonder if Bitely is multiing to commend himself...

IE, that is actually a proposal by the Texas Secretary of World Assembly Affairs using his WA nation currently located elsewhere. He has our full support. :)

What the! Truly a shock. Bitely is nothing more than a whiney bossy hyper 13yr old who apparently thinks it's a good idea to make the whole game his own... (and hopefully this isn't taken as trolling, or anything else outside the game rules, if so I am truly sorry)

If this thing seriously gets to quorum, I'm voting against...

Not sure what stance this signals, but... I like this. It will take him YEARS to be a big dog, and he might have already ruined his chances at it.

You guys just don't know or understand Kenny.....

I understand Kenny perfectly fine, but now I'm actually disappointed that he of all people would do something like this.

At least the proposal submitter can tell I'm serious...

Im afraid you dont realize they dont see it that way and are just making fun of you.........

It's the middle stance. Don't commend Bitely, but Don't give him the Condemnation he wants. Simple as that. The world stays at peace, Bitely is neither commended nor comdemned, and it doesn't leave a permanent scratch on the WA. It's the most beneficial solution.

In relation to the current resolution in WA Security Council:

"Revealing that Bitely's recent efforts to condemn The World Assembly have only increased that body's membership by more than 1,000%, effecting a tremendous boon to international cooperation and outreach..."

May I point out it sounds like he is taking credit for a "backfire"....??? I would dare to suggest that the membership increased by over 1,000% because Bitely under-estimated his own personal charisma and influence...?

I voted against.

The entire proposal is based on Bitely's efforts backfiring. It's an entirely satirical jab at Bitely's "influence" on the game.

Yes. This is one of the stupidest resolutions I have ever seen come to quorum (besides a few written by Bitely himself)!

There are a large number of experienced WA players (myself included) who disagree with you. Most of us have 5-12 years experience with the game and the WA, and it's one of the better and sneakier SC proposals ever written. You might want to actually read the SC thread on the topic rather than toss out knee-jerk comments like the one I quoted.

Vote for it, vote against it, I don't care. Just don't call it stupid, because it's anything but.
