I have a few thoughts.
"In a letter to parliament, the health and justice ministers said details remain to be worked out but that people who 'have a well-considered opinion that their life is complete, must, under strict and careful criteria, be allowed to finish that life in a manner dignified for them.'"
What does "dignified for them" mean? Either something is dignified, or it's not. Dignity doesn't vary from person to person.
"Euthanasia accounted for 5,516 deaths in the Netherlands in 2015, or 3.9 percent of all deaths nationwide."
A deeply troubling statistic.
I think two things are clear. First, expanding assisted suicide to all "old people" will inevitably put pressure on them to kill themselves. Second, the purpose of assisted suicide is to shirk moral responsibility. Let's be honest. It's not difficult to kill oneself. The only reason to bring a doctor into the mix is to attempt to suppress one's conscience. "If a physician's involved, killing myself must be alright, right?"
America has a crazy court system. Based on their own personal opinions, judges make up rights. Then, they give those rights more weight than rights that the Constitution actually lists.
California's law is totally unreasonable.

Basically, it says this: It's illegal to provide women ultrasounds, sonograms, contraceptives, pregnancy testing, or counseling, unless you're also willing to refer those women to an abortion clinic.
