I haven't been around in a while --- I've been doing more lesson plans than I used to, and my preschoolers just graduated last night! :D The plan to revitalize Nasicournia is still happening (as far as I know). It was Ehrereich's idea that we should bring the conversation about the current constitution to the regional message board so that everyone in this region who is not on the forums can be involved. The main discussion surrounding the current constitution is whether or not we should vote to nullify it. This doesn't mean that we are getting rid of it completely --- the relevant parts will be picked up and put into a future constitution. I personally feel that to rebuild Nasicournia, we have to have a fresh, start-from-scratch approach. That way, we won't be distracted by the current constitution while we analyze and create a new Nasicournia. Thoughts?

As I discussed with Lanna, I am in support of this particular measure. We have ideas as far as recruitment and plans to move forward, and rebuild. The issue we run into is that the Constitution as it stands interferes with a fast, effective rebuild. We would like to discuss this with you all at length before we go forward with putting it to vote. So, please chime in! We want your thoughts.

I have come to realize that my proposal to nullify the constitution may have been too radical. It was not a sign of disrespect for Nasicournia's highest regarded law when I put forth the idea. Nasicournia is a region that I very much respect, and I don't want to disregard any of its law nor any of its members. In fact, I want to assist Nasicournia in starting again, while cherishing its history and possibly restoring some of it (roleplaying, defending, allies, tacos & spam). Instead of nullification, I ask that you support me in suspending the constitution until further notice. I am asking this because there are clauses in the document that no longer applies to today's Nasicournia, such as:
--- the expectation that the founder will be active in regional politics
--- the appointment of a delegate for Nasicournian Borderlands
--- the need for the Nasicournia Intelligency Agency
--- recruitment guidelines
I do not feel that it is right to simply ignore this when we have the power to do something about it. I would very much love to revisit the constitution when the time is right, and work with all of you to create a set of laws that will fit today's NationStates and the future of Nasicournia.

I would also move to nullify the constitution, because it is not a document that represents present-day Nasicournia. We should keep the constitution as "monument mode", to represent a piece of proud history.
That's WHY we have THAT Constitution now - because it is a landmark, a piece of proud history. We don't have it now because we use it - half of what is there talks about obsolete points and the other half we come to "disregard" anyway!
An important move forward is to understand this.

I'm willing to support either point. I can see validitt in both outright nullification, as well as suspension. I had initially proposed suspension. Either way-the document in question is not currently pertinent or relevent to our needs and situation.

Regarding the constitution: I'm really only looking for a way to resolve an issue that I see so we can move forward into rebuilding mode. Conservan Xulls, can I get your opinion on this? I'm also hoping that by bringing this discussion to the regional message board, we would get more input.
If we're going to be more active we can't have relics of the past holding us back. I wouldn't say throw it out, but much of it isn't really relevant today so
