However, didn't the Kennyites score rather (surprisingly?) well on that ranking themselves?

The Empire of Grellania would like to extend a warmhearted message of gratitude to all members of this Union. I have been amazed with the community that has been nurtured under this region. In the coming weeks, this Empire will elect a new head of state, possibly Saul Atriedes or Sarah White, and it has been with great honor that I have served this Empire and this region. I greatly thank you all for supporting Grellania in our endeavors that are aligned with the goals of this region as a whole, and I am firm that this relationship will remain, or even be tempered, by the transition of my position. Thank you all for this beautiful community.
Ruth Corvin,
President of the Grellanian Imperium
Hi, I used to play here for a few years ago. Suddenly rediscovered NS and was able to revive this old nation, thought I'd come back and let Gnejs carry on in the IDU. Nice to see a few old familiar faces.
Welcome back!
Gnejs?
Welcome back!
I remember you.

Gnejs and Hyrkatria
Thanks guys! so, how are you guys?
Just 1 question : do I need really good civil rights and political freedom?
Must be due an election by now, surely.
That's preferred, but not absolutely essential. Some of our older members don't meet those criteria.
I'm willing to serve as an EC again.
I'll run this time around.
ok, that's cool!
Well, today we're up by 1 place in the list despite no improvement on the actual scale... and the nation in first place overall remains the same, but has increased its Snufflebottom-Wiggendum Pentatonic rating by 3 points.
Must try harder.

Has somebody been actively recruiting? Or are nations looking at us, and deciding to immigrate, because they like the GA proposal currently at vote and that's by one of our members? Or is there some other factor behind the recent (and welcome) influx?

On the region's behalf, as Election Minister from the last time around, I accept this offer and thank you.
Noted.
We haven't had a contested election for quite a while: If nobody else apart from you declares their intention to run as well then I'll do so, but if somebody else is interested then I won't.
We'll need at least one other member for the Election Commission, or two if I am a candidate. WA membership not required for this.
Shall we say Monday week (13th April) for the close of declarations and the start of voting?
That would give until tomorrow evening for anybody else who wants to vote to get their nation into both this region and the WA before the constitutional "one week before the start of voting" threshold to do so.
Thank you for the warm welcome back, good to be back.
Concerning the current repeal at vote in the WA, is there any sort of replacement resolution in the works, or is there any other current legislation that would cover the subject matter in any way? I find the repeal well written and convincingly argued, but then again my WA-nation (and Gnejs, even more so in fact) generelly supports international legislation to reduce these kinds of emissions, even though it might be costly.
And it's very fun to see that the two first WA-votes since I got back are written by IDU-members! Well done to the both of you.
I am not planning on writing a replacement. The WA has passed a ban on leaded fuels (written by Bears Armed).

Pre-Election Report
In the forthcoming election for Delegate, the following nations are eligible both to run for office and to vote: Bears Armed Mission, Bellopax, Cuaco, Eenen, Great Bellium, Grellania, Herpothamnus, Hyrkatria, Malabra, New Cleveland, Saltatio, Sciongrad, The Dark Star Republic, Toumba.
Additionally, Lumeau can vote, but can not be a candidate.
If you are on that list and wish to vote then you’ll need an account on the regional forum, because that’s where the voting takes place.
Declared candidates: Sciongrad, and provisionally (unless somebody else also steps forwards to make this a contested election) Bears Armed Mission.
Election Commission: The Dark Star Republic; two places left to fill… or one place if Bears Armed Mission drops out as a candidate for election, in which case I’ll volunteer for this job — if we don’t already have the necessary two more volunteers anyhows — instead.
Do we have any more volunteers to serve as Election Commissioners? (WA membership is not required for this.)

I don't plan to write any more proposals on this subject. I do have another 'Environmental' project in mind, but that will be aimed at phasing-out the use of ozone-depleting chemicals, instead.
I voted for the repeal, I agree the original resolution was flawed. It'll be interesting to see whether anyone tries writing a replacement for this, either someone new or the author of the current one (I understand that this was a replacement for another one that was repealed!).
Yes, this was itself a replacement, written for its own sake. For that reason, I hope there's not a rush to write a general replacement as I think the exact same problems will recur. That said, the WA is a very different political climate now and I doubt such a replacement would pass anyway.
If you still require volunteers for this, I'll be willing to contribute. I think I served on the EC before, but that was about 7-8 years ago, so I'll need a small brush up concerning what it actually entails.
