No change, I don't think it was really on the cards that I wouldn't be moving to Scotland.

Does this mean the SNP and/or Alex Salmond are now finished?

Quite the reverse in my opinion. It very clear that Scotland voted against a split from the Union, and that when you look at the mapping of the results only 4 constituent council areas voted in favour of YES. However, barring several exceptions, for the most part the NO edged the victory in the 50/50 sort of range. Some margins were so slim that one was even 49.9% Yes and 50.1% No - quite incredible and was a common theme, there weren't very many overwhelming majorities. Dundee and Glasgow vote Yes but nowhere near the numbers expected by Mr Salmon...d.

Because it is quite close and 1.6 million did vote for Yes, I think that most Scots would probably agree that SNP should hold the majority and 'run' Scotland as opposed to any one of the 3 main parties because at least the SNP's interests are solely those of the Scotland and the Scottish electorate - but not to have the SNP the rulers of an independent Scotland.

Alex Salmond will survive this and probably come out quite strong despite a failure. The ball is now, and always has been, in Westminster's court. They now have to deliver extra powers to the whinging masses of SNP and the electorate and then contend with cries from England, Wales and NI people and Ministers that Scotland is getting preferential treatment.

On an unrelated note; I was taking a causal stroll through the Jolt NS Archives continuing my quest, probably foolishly, to search for old 'fluff' on the region - including the Passion Play RP. Then I stumbled upon this:

http://nationstates.ermarian.net/jolt/1230/307352

On #dienstad the other night I remember reminiscing about this old fella. But it's not really him (or the atrocious thread) that got my attention. Look at who got the last post!!!! Probably the last thing Adaptus astrates ever posted! lol

And for another blast from the past, another old nation of mine: Southern Wastes.

http://nationstates.ermarian.net/jolt/1223/306898

Plus a factbook of a sort for my first nation; http://nationstates.ermarian.net/jolt/1223/310537

Yay, more stuff for the regional history project!

11th largest defense forces, or rather budget, out of all of Dienstad? I'm impressed with my little nation... ^-^

Lyras is No.1 which is hardly surprising.

I'm 38th, almost fitting considering how I RP things.

And the legions of hell are second in defense budgeting... Not certain how that fits in, but I'm almost certain it does.

I wonder what the Mokan military would be like if I actually RP'ed with an NS size population...

Maybe I'll work on those estimations today

ATTENTION! ATTENTION!

This is probably the single most import RMB post I will ever make in my history on NationStates. It is also important that after the announcement you all note the date and time and then continually thank me forever and ever.

For nine years this region started out with a plucky few individual nations that moved over from the former region of Imperial Armies that had been founded by Holy Panooly/Guffingford. Greater Dienstad was founded by The Macabees in the aftermath of the Second War of Golden Succession as played out in the original RP thread A Passion Play on the old Jolt forums. As a consequence of the war, the region reinvented itself as a post-bellum region with a distinctly unique history shared by the original nations who all fought in the original war. A Passion Play went down in history as one of the largest, greatest, well coordinated and well written RPs in NS II Forum History.

Never has such an RP resonated within a community on NS quite like A Passion Play to the point where the effects of the war are still continually referred back to in current RPs to this very day. It is safe to say that without the war Greater Dienstad wouldn't exist. But, to an extent it doesn't. Old nations have been lost through the passage of time and those that remain forget incredibly important details of the war, for it is integral to the history of the region and to several ancient nations in GD. Myself and Mac (and several others) have had lengthy discussions about what we can actually remember. To this day a lot of the details remain very ambiguous such as the history and involvement of New Empire.

A thread was set up here: http://z10.invisionfree.invalid.com/GreaterDienstad/index.php?showtopic=261 by Mac in order to preserve what history we remember on the region (Of which I really should contribute to :S). However with the release of the Jolt NS Forum archives came the possibility of retrieving the old RP as well as it's other spin offs telling the story of numerous other battles. This search has been near exhaustive and taken months with no luck.

Until now.....

I very proudly present to you good nations the literal and HTML formatted Holy Grail of Greater Dienstadii regional history.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you:

A Passion Play

Found the OOC thread for it.

The last page is what I alluded to on the GD forums about the nukes. Heck, that might be everything....

Morrdh, a thousand thank you's!!!

I totally did not remember so much nuking lol. I thought I nuked Stevid, he nuked me back, and that was the end of things. But, if I'm reading the WoGS Index right, there were at least like 3 or 4 nukes.

Jolt NS Threads, that brings back good memories :)

Not related to GD, but this guy is like the godfather of NS RP: http://nationstates.ermarian.net/jolt/1230/274319

Holy sheeeet, jolt archives!

Better yet, that many were used and didn't send the RP into a clusterfook OOC whining and flared tempers and didn't result in MAD either. The whole story is a template on how to RP. Hint hint RP mentors! :D

"Fourth, you must be ready to cooperate; meaning, no complaining and no huge out of character arguments. In the old OOC thread of the 500+ posts only four or five were actual arguments. Now that's an OOC thread."

Now I think that, ideally, the OOC thread should be shorter than the IC thread. :P

Btw, while A Passion Play was truly awesome, I think we have a lot to be proud of today. "Moving is Never Easy," the northeast "Moving is Never Easy," and "Imperial Recrudescence" are loosely interconnected now, so that's another major string of RPs that proves that we're one of the most successful regions on NS. While the diplomacy/conflict here is very different to that of A Passion Play, I think it's more intricate, more complex, and more spontaneous. It'll hopefully be something we'll reminisce about in the future. (Can't believe I spelled reminisce right on the first try.)

As you can tell from past OOC threads and the OOC thread for IR, sometimes I can be somewhat aggressive in pushing people to spend more time developing their posts. Part of it is the fact that I'm one of those annoying people who wants things to a certain standard, and I admit that this is not always good. At the same time, however, I hope no one takes offense, because ultimately I just want to show the rest of NS how awesome GD is, completely thanks to how awesome you guys are. But, just as a warning, I'm going to continue to be a stickler. :P

One of the things that really works about this region is that we can have wars/conflicts that are well thought out and played because we all mutually respect each other. Hell, I may be at war with Stevid but OOCly I love the guy to death so our fighting *works*. Same for my previous invasion of Greal back about four years ago. He and I are buds so theres no inflamed tempers or lack of cooperation. This is exactly how it *should* be.

The region certainly does have a knack at telling a story and being able to interconnect seemingly separate RPs into the bigger picture. I like how Morrdh's CCA was pulled in due, in part, to the Kessler Effect.
