im justing pointing this out that some of the science options are little expensive but can sometimes affect your civil rights, for example: around June i chose a a option that would allow me to decrease funding to pesrerve dying speice's by cloning (i've changed since then) and that lowered my civil rights from Great to below average and took me a month to recover so make sure it dosent look to suspicious first

Hi Doctor Nick!

Gallifrax wrote:Ideology shared with them as our principles of Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, and Freedom. The people of Forest share some common threads, granted they believe in a more open type of freedom and as such don't condemn those who have political and civil rights levels that would be banned here. They also have a high precedence on conservation for the environment, and while environmental conservation is not quite a leftist ideal and is expressed throughout the entire spectrum, it is commonly found with people who have some agreeable stances on leftism and more left-wing ideals.

Democracy: Government by the Masses
Simple enough, but if the have low political freedom, arent they violating this principle "we hold in common"?

Eqaulity: Definition Varies
This one really is a pet peeve for me, since 'eqaulity' in and of itself on a very basic level is not a good thing, and perhaps a bad thing. Poor, malnourished, and suffering as long as everyone is at that level is 'equal'. I've heard of equal treatment as making degrading comments about everyone equally, and that is technically equal treatment as long as you insult everyone. On top of that, it is unattainable since everyone is unique. Some will be Stronger, Smarter, and/or just have a better run of it, while others will always be Weaker, Dumber, and/or just get alot of bad out of life, not from 'unequal' treatment, but just how things shake out through circumstance.

So lets just say equality means everyone is treated well, with dignity and respect, regradless of who they are. Well, fine. But that's not equality, strictly speaking. That's compassion, love, and understanding, which some need more than others to reap 'equal' benefits. So do they treat people with dignity? I suppose, except you forget they allow people who allow oppression in their ranks. so NO they do not support this 'equality'. They actually create a disparity among the blocs citizens in what matters most, and thats not right.

Solidarity: I think we all know this one
That ties in with genuine love, compassion, and understanding. It also goes deeper to a common goal and struggle, which they don't seem to share with us really, so again NO.

Freedom: Definition Varies
True Freedom is something most of us lack, due to things most never learn to get a handle on. However in This case we are discussing civic freedoms. I say NO because of their ineffective policing of their member nations civil freedoms.

Green: stuff that floats your boat
One of the few things I can say they are on par with us for, but we should do a better job of policing our own environmental record among nations.

Leftism:
Just stop. seriously. we should look beyond the spectrum and focus on what we really value.

CLOSING:DO NOT ACCEPT TREE PEOPLE, OR WHATEVER THERE FACE IS

I don't know if I speak for the majority of the masses, but of those who are intelligible enough and value our customs, ideals, and principles hear at the DSA I believe I have the greater part behind me. I will not speak further of how it greives me that we are considering to accept people who share so little in our values, however vague some of them may be, and will not extort greater caution in the future, although it would be wise when considering allies and friends.

I simply ask us to consider not just the records of the regions, but the nations within, for the nations within are the true Representative of a regions character. and exhort you to think of what would ensure our values amongst those nations best in regional practice.

Terdesuni wrote:-snip-

Lets hope to clear up some confusion. They do share in our values of Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, and Freedom.
Democracy: A vast majority of their nations are ingame democracies, and they hold yearly elections for who governs their region. You mention valuing the nations themselves, and I believe the fact they have a constitution, yearly elections, and a majority of their nations classified as democracies constitutes their belief in democracy.

Equality: The people over at Forest hold all members in just as high regard as eachother. There is no discrimination of membership based on any ratio. If you care for the environment, they welcome you as anyone else.

Solidarity: Solidarity is a form of compassion, and mutual agreement in the struggles of some groups, whether it be economic, racial, or ethnic. There is a clause in their charter that they will aid any region in emergency. That hardly sounds like a lack of solidarity and unwillingness to aid their allies.

Freedom: They hold no restriction on WA Classification or CR/Econ/PF levels. And while we do, they believe a lack of restriction encourages an open environment for all of the region to share and for others to grow. By any meaning, the DSA would have less freedom for imposing such a requirement.

Before being quick to act on one RMB message from 6 days ago, look at their regional page and try to understand them. My diplomatic envoy nation is currently there, and the people of Forest are excellent for becoming our allies. Dont just retaliate against them because they are not solely concerned with leftism and going against capitalism or whatever left theory you subscribe to.

Lastly, I do not believe you speak with the majority of the DSA when you talk of anyone 'intelligent' enough to be against the 'tree people'. I felt that the DSA could use with an ally that may not see things the way the DSA does. I talked with the Cabinet, and thorough research before I gave my OK.

Please dont breed ignorance by being unwilling to check out the region and try and learn who they are as people behind the nation, instead of hastily rejecting them.

Im not going to offer a point-for-point rebuttal for this, BUT I will say this: I stand by Gallifrax's decision to peruse an embassy. I will continue to stand by my fellow Cabinet members and am more than happy to invite you to run in the next election if you are so dissatisfied.

Surprisingly, Christmas is my NS birthday. I don't recall what kind of rationale led me to look for a nation simulation game during a holiday, but there it is.

(Double post) In addition to my response for the regional poll, we have just recently entered the Galactic era. Our FTL drive, called the Warp-Matrix Drive, has only been fully finished in the past few months and are currently in use in small spacecraft such as the V-Class Small Craft Scouter, but will be implemented into the newest of the GSAA Flagships, the L-Class Deep Space Exploration Starship G.S. Astrani. So that would technically put us at Late-Frontier Era/ Early-Galactic Era.

As far as Ivory Rhodes is in this Universe RP: We have just perfected our second generation FTL drive, the MCX-2200, capable of jumping to 1.09x light speed. Engineers have seemed to run into trouble with the immense effects on carbon and silicon based life forms at 1.02x LS and 1.06x LS respectively.

Government-wise, Ivory Rhodes is a medium sized galactic republic specializing in trading and resource collection.

There are currently 813 Billion intelligent life-forms, both carbon and silicon based, within the Republic's immediate domain. Strict laws are imposed on residents concerning population and resource utilization. It is the Republic's primary goal to preserve the planets which they inhabit.

Culturally, the inhabitants are raised bilingual, with English being the language of official use, and French the cultural language. ALL mention of Ted Cruz is outlawed from the Republic, and the government works tirelessly to ensure he becomes an unperson.

Wait, what? 813 BILLION life-forms and you only have a warp drive capable of going at max 1.09c? You do realize that this is practically impossible? Although, judging by the ted Cruz bit, you might be joking.. if that is the case I apologize :P

By the way, I will be making a guideline for roleplaying, so that everything proceeds smoothly... also, RP posts will be considered canon only if they are posted on the forum thread I will open or if they are factbooks. In case I find some stuff to be far-fetched, too irrealistic or too overpowered, I reserve myself the ability to discard that stuff as non-canon.

...meets Channelwood. Sorry for the triple post.

Following Ivory rhodes' Universe RP bio, figured I should have one too.
The full name is The Galactic Federation of Gallifrax and Accompanying Territories
Gallifrax' main method of traversing is the newly finished and tested Warp Matrix Drive MkIV, an adapted Alcubierre Drive that during the warp to and from a star system, can move at 1,000c. Outside of the warping itself, the engines can go at a maximum of 1.8c.

Gallifrax as a galactic power is a relative newcomer to the galactic stage but is quickly catching up in both might, influence, and planetary colonization. We have a small amount of planets in our influence, varying from resource extraction and mineral refinement to agriculture, medical, or high tech-industrial. Gallifrax would be considered a medium but burgeoning galactic power.

There are currently 163 billion people living under the flag of the Federation, with a current population dynamic of 74%-26% of people living on the home planet to those living off-world.

Citizens are well versed in a number of languages, predominantly Gallifraxian and DSA Basic, following with others to communicate with the other civilizations.
