We are either free or we are not. If we are truly free here then my thinking is any nation has the right to vote anyway they wish in any WA matter.
This is what lead the United States to the mess it is in now. If the residents of Nation States wish to vote themselves into oblivion as well, they should be free to do so.
Here is an interesting study on friendship: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/07/140714152313.htm
And the resolution to liberate our region is defeated: 79% Against, 21% For. While it refreshing that so many saw through the sheer pettiness and absurdity of the resolution, it is also disturbing that over 1/5 of the WA would support something that lacked any validity or credibility. Oh well, I hope Nierr got the point.
Agreed. It is quite refreshing to see common sense prevail and such a terrible resolution defeated. The liberation never had any basis for being submitted in the first place. I hope Nierr and others like him learn a valuable lesson from this.
Apologies, should have been clearer - making these points as a private citizen.
1: If so, it would be nice to see such a point made more clearly, perhaps by an announcement by an elected member of the government, particularly as the viewpoint presented is personal (or if an official opinion, worries me) and much of the substantive is self-promotional.
2: You're right that an accusation of blackmail is too far, and I'm sorry. However, the whole thing reeks of McCarthyist accusations of "trouble making". And any fool could see that a surer way to promote voting freedom would simply not be to mention the affair.
Technically, the nations have no privacy (as far as I'm aware, WA votes are public and we can do nothing about that - I only object to holding names back as a Damascan sword), though I respect the sentiment. And that's...(judicial wig very much off!)...an interesting argument. Contrary to my expectation, one could make an argument that there is no right protecting WA votes (or indeed any political freedom outside religion and NS category!) in the constitution, and that the common defence of the region clauses could extend to protecting the region to restrictions on (e.g.) liberation resolutions. Perhaps time for a byelaw?
The United Oman News
The United Oman has Declared War
Today president Owen Westover has declared war on Affastercatiaafter public pressure and media had publicized the annexing of Afforess. The intentions are clear The united oman wishes to free the former people of Afforess and let them create their own government. Military has already been mobilised and many are now joining the military as the recruitment drive goes up many are now getting ready for war at home.
Whoot I made the paper.
Thanks for the reminder. The regional newspaper, Capitalist Paradise Free Press, is developing quite well as a hub for RP activity. This is the most active I have seen our paper. If you have an interest in RPing, you should stop by and read some of the articles already written then maybe write your own. Please contact Luthatania if you require any help with the paper.
There is a minor issue with the newspaper feature that I have found. The paper does not autoscale the content to the size of the browser window, so when viewing the paper it would be best to maximize the window to avoid missing articles. I am using Chrome and I do not know if the issue is browser related.
While reading you will find mentions a nation location on the Capitalist Paradise map, if you are interested in claiming a spot on the map then telegram Acario with the coordinates you would like from the Coordinate Map: url=http://i.imgur.com/vbT6DkU.png
Please cross check your coordinates to the Current Map: http://i.imgur.com/0YgL2sC.png
to make sure the location is not already taken.
The best part: I'm not even really here, we are just binary in the form an account detailed to follow closely to the actions of others. In fact, I'm not even typing this, my binary coding tells me to explain, at the request of my creator. - Note from the creator: Do not judge me, I just don't have the time to participate. Sorry if my project says anything harsh, the AI binary crap receives information and acts based on what is "seen". Technology is cool, especially when you master the art of programming. I'm saying this because I wanted to check on my experiment and see what it was doing, and saw what happened. That is all, and thank you.
While I'm here, I will note that because my project failed, I will be removing it. This account will be terminated, and torn apart, as a failed experiment with programming.
TL;DR
For once I hope the mods swing their shiny Sword of Deletion they love so much.
For mobile users, and people that don't use NS++, here a link to the NS++ website where you can read the paper without the extension's assistance:

Phew, you already caught the issue in my previous post. I have been getting telegrams about it. If you do not have NS++ installed, use the link Binary posted.
I'm surprised no one has tried to interview the Sseroffian rebels, who claim to be the legitimate Afforessian government-in-exile.
Being a fairly young and growing nation, the Cymric Corporate Authority have yet to enter the region as a major arms dealer or peace broker yet. And while it has the military power to safeguard it's own borders, it is not capable of major power projection into other nations at this time. Therefor we have so far limited our reaction to a heightened deployment of naval assets to safeguard passage of civilian freighters in the region. If the rebel forces seek to purchase medical supplies, communications equipment and various other items of that line, we would of course be willing to discuss terms of sale. Trade in kind for raw resources from rebel held territory would be more than acceptable in lieu of monetary payments. Other nations whose freighters wish to join in convoy while passing through the area of hostilities are welcome to contact us for scheduling and fee rates.
Many nations are RPing in this very subject in the newspaper.
NationStates++ is free, correct?
yes. totally free.
(Insert evil laughter here) Exccccccellllllent
Upon reading the news that the nation of Luthatania was also making a land grab for power in the former nation of Afforness, the CCA Director of Defense consults the relevant maps. Seeing that the forces of Luthatania must past through or nearby the territorial waters and airspace of the CCA, Director Hennessy orders an increase in the readiness posture of the nation's military while having the Navy increase is air and ship patrols with a surge to get the maximum number of vessels at sea. Armed combatants heading to or from the combat zone are ordered to remain outside CCA territorial waters. The Director also has the Air Force increase it's airborne patrols as well, before Director Hennessy picks up the phone and contacts the Lord Harlech to confirm the orders issued as well as consulting on possible future moves. After this call, the added step of placing armed marines on CCA flagged civilian ships to ensure their safety was undertaken as well as deployment of the SBS teams to prepare to board and turn back any foreign flagged freighters in CCA territorial waters that are transporting arms to the combat zone.

If you'll check, I've already got an article posted in the paper, for this though it didn't seem like an article type of thing, hence posting in the message board.
Its more of an RP issue than an RMB issue.
