Kubrath wrote:With all due respect Sscenopal, 2 days prior to launch is not enough time to issue a request, which is what you should gone for, instead of demanding that we take no action for fear of "retaliation". We do not want you to take your satellite down, but to simply cease any and all operations until you get the proper clearance. We believe that is fair.

We will not repeat our actions in the future without clearance with our neighbours, however, not continuing our operations from the satellite could put our cosmonauts who are aboard the satellite in danger. The nuclear devices we have on board are still experimental, and the set end of the mission is also about the time the devices are predicted to become unstable. We will properly dispose of them into space upon completion of the mission, but stopping the mission early may cause serious harm to the scientists, so I would ask that we at least be allowed to maintain it to ensure they come of no harm.

Your circumstances are understandable. Kubrath will back an exception to be made in this case, however we will hold a considerable degree of reservation in the future.

Some troubling news from our real-life namesake: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-31976749

Quote: "Sea ice in the Arctic Ocean has fallen to the lowest recorded level for the winter season, according to US scientists."

Rainbow bouncy balls

That's not good.

Is it possible man contributed to this lack of ice or is this just what's happening in the natural word right now? (POLL)

There is no doubt that the ice levels on this planet have changed significantly in cycles over millennia; however, to think that humanity has had zero influence on these ice levels, due to our bombardment of the atmosphere with CO2 and other noxious gases, would be ignorant. It's possible that it's a combination of both factors - nature and humanity, but humanity has its share of responsibility; just how much, well, I'm not a scientist in the field of climate change. Some would deny humanity has had any impact, but they are in the significant minority of opinion.

Another region I'm in just got totally messed up by the Black Riders. Our Founder came back and fixed it, but still.

Yes they did us over once though I log in a few times a day, if any WA nations are not endorsing our delegate please do to make it a bit more difficult for them. If the delegate is in power it's going to happen at some stage.

Also I am adding Canadian Arctic Territories to the factbook as per poll results welcome to the new Minister of Regional Affairs.

Hopefully we won't be sleeping when they eventually attack.

We thank your Majesty, King of The Ice Bears for your gracious welcome.

My fellow nations of the Arctic. It is with great honour and humility that I take up the post of Minister of Regional Affairs. I thank all those who voted affirmatively in the poll, and to those who voted negatively, I shall work to earn your trust and respect. It is my firm intention to fill this post to the best of my ability for so long as my fellow states of the Arctic should desire.

I shall attempt to bring to this job a sense of duty and integrity, to be fair, unbiased, and balanced in all matters of the region that we have been blessed to call home.

Should anyone have any concerns at any time, please telegram me or make your concerns known publicly here on the board.

Once more I thank you all for your support, and may God watch over our beloved Arctic.

When is the map update due?

The map has been updated! (OOC: Finals week, sorry.) I had a bit of trouble understanding your claim, Arctacion—did I get it right?

Uhh, I don't see any change.

Great Job Troekochi, you understood it perfectly. Looks good! Nice to be back with a noted presence.

Am, I looking at the wrong map? The one here marked regional map doesn't show any change, is that a problem on my end?

I had to hit the refresh button to see the new one.

Ah, that did it.

We are currently preparing for the launch of мир 2 for first of next month. No one need worry; this one contains no nuclear material. We are launching a manned satellite to perform the first manned flyby of the Moon before returning. мир 1 will be landing soon, as the mission concludes on the same date мир 2 launches.

*our first manned flyby.

We wish you the very best in your endeavors, Sscenopal, and would be most interested if you could share your research findings with the Region as a whole, if not for classified purposes.

We ourselves have no Space Agency however our academics would appreciate the sharing of any findings of note.
