I am imagining a bathroom that consists of a hole in the floor and a fancy bidet. It is vaguely amusing.

Also, I find it amusing that, in the comment section, people had arguments about whether or not the locals should/do speak English. One person said:
"TBH, I've had serious problems with english in France. I remember a barmaid refusing to understand the word "water". I'm under the impression they do it out of chauvinism".
Speaking from experience, that usually only happens when the person genuinely doesn't understand what you're saying (either because they don't speak English or because they can't understand your accent), or is annoyed that you're not even making an effort to communicate (usually happens to obnoxious Americans [though not all Americans are obnoxious, of course], from what I've seen). Generally, the French will be a lot more accommodating if you at least try to say a few words in French.
