Regional rankings!

We're not in top 1% for anything real, which I guess is due to us having wildly differing approaches to running our nations, but we have one top 5% trophy: Most Cultured.

Rarity would approve.

Yuck... This new update is quite terrible. I hate when things are changed just to simply change things.

Not sure I like issues being resolved immediately after clicking a choice now either. Nice not to wait, but mis-clicking or changing ones mind is certainly something of a problem now.

I believe that those who made and update this game are of the 'Richard Dawkins' school of thought concerning anything relating to religion in NationStates.

Basically, pretty much anything that increases religion torpedoes all your other positive ratings. I do not believe it is possible to have a high religious rating, and a tolerant people; just because the game is not set up to allow this as an option.

There's an option under settings for it to ask for confirmation.

Not sure about this new upgrade. How on Earth did we manage to become a New York Times Democracy?

Seaponies wrote:Not sure about this new upgrade. How on Earth did we manage to become a New York Times Democracy?

I'm not entirely sure, but I do see a drop in civil rights and political freedom recently. That might explain it?
Also not sure how all your industries are state-owned when there's no government...

Following new legislation in Seaponies, only AI know why the nation is rapidly increasing its semiconductor stockpile.

Turning over your entire economy to an AI naturally results in a significant drop in economical freedoms. You were a Corporate Bordello before, so shifting to a New York Times Democracy by implementing a command economy is consistent behavior.

This would probably have happened even before the upgrade.

And "citizens who leave the country are officially classed as traitors" can't have been good for your civil rights, either.

Ha, good catch!

"There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, outspoken individuals juggles the competing demands of Industry, Environment, and International Aid. Income tax is unheard of."

"The frighteningly efficient economy is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, quite specialized black market in Tourism, Gambling, Retail, and Book Publishing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out."

But then, Seaponies have never been known for making much sense.

Most Efficient Economies: 1st in region
Largest Arms Manufacturing Sector: 2nd in region
Most Advanced Defense Forces: 3rd in region
Most Extensive Public Healthcare: 3rd in region

So proud, anyways really liking the update.

There are approximately as many rankings as there are nations in the region (80 vs 74), so on average everyone can expect to be best at one thing.

Now, if you're best at seven different things at once, like I am...

It really is nice to be able to see your rankings for everything at once, though.

Such a strange update. I preferred the old way of getting issues. Now I come on and get swamped by them.

You can slow down issues in your settings. Setting it to "12 hours" will give issues at the same rate as before the update.

Stinson re-gained rule here. Now we finally wont nuke everything that is not Arexian.

Also the black market activity here is extremely high, I am confused. For how can the black market thrive if there are seventy six cameras on each single building?

Two words dear, Sewer networks.

Camera's on every BUILDING, but not on everything else. Tagging with tracking devises may help. Since you can always go to other places like the woods that don't exactly have a camera.

Just poking around about Sparta for a history assignment, and I found this gem on the Wikipedia page on Laconic phrases:
The shortest correspondence in history was between Victor Hugo and his publisher in 1862. Hugo was on vacation while Les Misérables was scheduled to be printed, and wondered how his book was being received. He telegraphed Hurst & Blackett the single-character message "?". Sales being brisk, the reply was a single "!".
Woodland doesn't exist here.
