"Yes, Athenaes are quite honorable, and its a lovely nation," Andrea says, then stops, blushing. "Uh, yes, my parents where killed in the Imperial War, and I was the only one who could take the throne."

Badrick looked at the Empress "I'm sorry...I too lost a parent during a war, i lost my mother when i was 17" He stared at the floor, Badrick hated lying but it was a necessary precaution to ensure the safety of his people "It must have been hard for you, i know it would have been, without my mother my father was distant...He didn't have time for us for a while so i helped raise my youngest brother, Then he found out about the whole Hadian civil war and he wanted us to join, at the time i was his chief scout until he promoted me to General, a big career change but i guess you know what that's like being an empress." Badrick looked back at the Empress trying to hold back some tears "I'm sorry, i just miss her sometimes, i can only imagine what you go through"

"I miss them too at times," Andrea says with a sigh. "And I'm sorry about your mother."

OOC: Insofar as I have reasoned, the primary disadvantage of the decision to become an interstellar empire with faster-than-light travel capabilities is that the resulting extreme reduction of the scarcity of territory and resources means that once the Empire of Stella Draconis is fully established as a profitable interstellar empire, it will not have much reason to enter into diplomatic or commercial relations with other States, thus seriously reducing the opportunity for meaningful international events that normally drive NationStates RPs, as you can observe by the near total inactivity of the interstellar empires within the Alliance of Dictators.

Valcouria wrote:While We are disappointed in this course of events, We will remain committed to maintaining and forging good relations with Rurikia in the future, and hope that they will consider the merits of an alliance with the Empire, even if outside the Grand Alliance.

If you will pardon the interruption, Your Imperial Majesty, would you like to consider assessing which of the Master's Dominate's official State Political Quality Tiers would best describe your State of the Empire of Valcouria, if such a task would not seem overly objectionable to you?

Not many Extraterrestrial states floating around, so there is that possibility. The maximum was seven at a time.

OOC: And the minimum of groundie nations was four or five just a month ago, yet we remained. Space is overly uninteresting.

OOC: While I must admit to having no evidence supporting this, I would suggest that my previous observation has a reasonable chance of possessing a causal relationship with the present situation of not having many active "extraterrestrial states floating around," as you have put it.

Oh yeah, I remember that one time. Most boring period time I've ever spent here.

Well, you didn't help much.

There is an old forum thread which most empires (at the time) had signed onto.

OOC: I distinctly recall that the aforementioned forum thread did involve most of the aforementioned extraterrestrial empires, just as I recall that the aforementioned empires repeatedly complained of how slowly the aforementioned thread progressed, and as I recall the aforementioned empires having very limited formal interactions with each other following the aforementioned thread.

People could have tried, all I ask for, I am the only stable space empire here. It's like a graveyard.

Aforementionedly...

Said forum thread had invited most empire in the AoD. Said thread went slowly due to certain personnel involved. Said people let their empires be deleted. And said thread died, and said empires did not interact, because thread was not completed and most and left. So, there.

You know, I kinda feel like I've been here for a long time whenever I think about all the people that have come, left, or cte'd.

Foreign Secretary Neville Ralph wishes to visit Rurikia, if you would permit us, in order to send the message of continued commitment to a mutually beneficial partnership across to the rest of the world.

Official response:

Although we have stated our intent to maintain cordial exchanges with all states, it is presently not in line with our policies to receive Mr. Neville Ralph in Rurikia due to what we classify as the destabilizing actions of the government he represents.

When said actions and policies by the British government have been revised, we will most gladly receive Mr. Ralph.

Of course, we respect your decision to bar Foreign Secretary Neville Ralph from visiting Rurikia. The real purpose behind Mr. Ralph's visit would have had been to determine what you classify as destabilising actions, so that we would be able to work hard to see to it that all outstanding issues are resolved. Perhaps if your government would wish to write a letter protesting what we have specifically done, and what it expects our government to do, we might be able to work towards resolving all outstanding issues.

OOC: Honestly, I only understood half the things you said, but let me address it anyway.

First off, technically we're a little early into this to be calling it an Interstellar Empire, Tiamat is just a prototype, not exactly the USS Enterprise, and even simply colonization will take years between building colony ships, finding a suitable planet, and getting enough people to go, so its not like we're sending ships out tomorrow or something.

Secondly, Stella Draconis isn't going to move off planet, their space of land is their ancestral home, so there will still be need to maintain relations. Defense of their homeland, some resources not available off world, and just friendly relations in general would still have its uses.

Thirdly, honestly this was something I kinda intended to do from making Stella Draconis, I thought it would be fun.

OOC: If that is the case, then though I wish you well in all of your endeavors, if I recall correctly the Greater Intergalactic Empire of Servoth possesses ownership of the galaxy we are in, and the five galaxies nearest to the galaxy in which we reside, so your colonization ship may have a very long trip ahead of it if it intends to find unclaimed habitable planets.

I control a majority of planets (largely because there is no competition), not the entire galaxy. 600 billion stars leaves a lot of possibilities in just one galaxy.
