The season 5 finale hinged on the fact that without the main 6, Equestria would be doomed. Chrysalis, among others, would be able to successfully conquer it (it is never explained how that timeline survived the previous villains to even give her the chance).
In the season 6 finale, Chrysalis's conquest of Equestria is foiled without the main 6.
Sure, Starlight Glimmer wouldn't have been there without the main 6 defeating and redeeming her, but still.
Proof of what I said way back at the start of the season that the Mane 6 are now the Mane 7.
Can I ask what you all thought of season 6 overall? Personally I don't think it was necessarily bad, but I feel it's not as good as the past 5. One problem I have is it seemed they tried to stuff too many plot elements into one season. You had the map which seemed treated as an afterthought, Twilight as a teacher which you don't see much of, Flurry heart which was completely sidestepped, and the regular not-so-themed episodes. I think if they had focused on just one or maybe two it would've made the season's plot deeper. There were some great songs to come out of it though (like Pinkie's Hearthwarming song), and of course there are some wonderful episodes. But I think overall it's not as good as the others, and season 5 is still my favorite. These are only my opinions of course, and I don't mean to start any argument over which season is better or anything like that. So, what do y'all think?
Good! The deus ex mapina is a stupid plot device and I hate it.
The best deus ex mapina episode so far was Spice Up Your Life, which could very easily be made to have worked without it as a normal episode. It barely even featured a friendship problem (I didn't even notice "reconciling father and daughter" was an issue, it just seemed like a story about helping a deserving startup business to succeed against a biased environment), and for once it was located in a place that Rarity had a legitimate reason for visiting without being sent there by a deus ex mapina (she could be in Canterlot to check up on her boutique branch there). The only hiccup would be justifying Pinkie Pie tagging along with Rarity while nopony else does, but there's any number of ways to do that that would be more amusing than a deus ex mapina (and if they ran out of ideas, there's always the fallback of "Rarity wanted a friend and everypony else was too busy with other stuff" - or for that matter it's not like Pinkie Pie ever needs much of a reason to do something).
Granted, the other deus ex mapina episodes this season were at least a little better than last season's, too.
Top Bolt wouldn't have been too bad either, if Sky Stinger wasn't so over-the-top obnoxious (better than Rarity being the problem, I guess), though again that was somewhere Rainbow Dash had a logical reason to be, as opposed to being randomly sent off to Griffonstone/Manehattan/Las Pegasus/some hills in the middle of nowhere. Getting Twilight to tag along would have been harder, admittedly.
Don't forget Diamond Tiara's redemption (they didn't manage to squeeze that one in at all), the Cutie Mark Crusaders' new calling, Rainbow's new career with the Wonderbolts (they did have a couple of episodes about that one)...

All of the songs in that episode were good, though.
Except for the part in Pinkie's where she stopped to go tapdancing. That annoyed me for some reason.
Eh. There were more than zero good episodes this season. That's all I'm hoping for at this point.

I haven't seen it in a long time. I keep telling myself to get back into watching it, but just don't feel the incentive to do so.
I enjoy it.
I like the show. I'm just hoping they can bring back the old quality in season 7.
To be honest, the quality of the show doesn't much matter to me now - I'm just so invested in the characters I have to know what's going on. I mean I still lap up Big Bang Theory.

That's actually rather interesting. Whereas you watch it for the development and relationships of the characters themselves, I watch it for more technical reasons, such as animation, art style, colour, storyline/plot depth, and the talent of the voice actors. If you don't mind me asking, do you know your personality type? I myself am an INTP. I'm just wondering if their might be a correlation between one's personality and the reasons for which they enjoy something. Of course there will be a correlation between personality and what they find interesting, but in this case I want to know if the same is true for why.
You mean Myers-Briggs? I don't hold much stock in personality classification to be honest, but I'm INFJ. Gonna bet that most of the people on here are IN--.

This might be a bit random, but possibly of interest to WA members. Hidden in the 'Technical' section of the forum is a topic titled 'Modification of WA Endorsement System' in which there is a proposed change to the WA system so those few users with huge numbers of endorsements do not dominate (or at least as easily) WA voting.
The site admins have noticed the topic, and have asked for more player feedback (either comments, or voting in the attached poll) before they consider making any changes.
So any WA members interested in the system being tweaked (or not) should go cast a vote in the topic.
