Gov't takes months, even years on a single infrastructure project.

Meanwhile, a Jollibee Building, Condominium, etc. suddenly pops up in the middle of nowhere in just a month or two.

The classic example of government incompetence, Terminal 3 in NAIA. That took 17 years to complete! Ridiculous. You can build a large new airport in less than 5 years.

That's why when I hear all of these positive economic news from the Philippines, all I can think of is its irrelevant since I am not seeing any concrete reforms.

Most of the economic development was done on the part of the private entities. Public entities have only little part in the "economic change" that Noynoy takes credit of. We can all see this clearly.

As for the topic, our province is having a curtail in electrical power. :(
Brownouts everyday or every other day... :(
It's just seldom that we have electricity for more than three straight days. :(

My question is, why the hell does it take 4 years to build a power plant in the Philippines? In Vietnam it takes less than a year! Stupid, just stupid.

Bureaucracy/red tapes?

The great philippines

There's no economic development until there's no real independence. And there's no independence when the US still controls the puppet state/government. Genuine economic development need a national industrialization throughout the country. We don't need foreign investors and capitalists who only exploits the Fiipino workers and our natural resources. We should have a self-reliant economy. The state should implement a genuine agrarian reform for the peasants. And also, a free education, healthcare and social welfare for the people. But if the current state/government still don't listen to the well-being of its people, the people will force to overthrow the entire rotten social system and replace with a people's democratic state/government led by the working class and other democratic classes.

Yes...we are an independent nation as described by the 1946 declaration by the US which turned us into an independent nation...But are we really independent?

Now....

As long as the Philippines, remains dependent upon the inflow of money through foreign remittances, if we still rely on product imports rather than utilize our own, if other nations can still manipulate us and threaten us by punishing our OFWs so that we can abide by their standards that they impose on us, we are still a colony.

GLOBALIZATION!? F*CK THEM!!!

The great philippines

The Aquino regime is very funny of implementing "cheap-labor export policy" as its program to solve unemployment in the country. Our intelligent and hard-working countrymen are being force by the situation to find jobs abroad, some are oppressed and exploited. The US imperialist and the ruling class is benefiting of being backward of our economy which is semi-colonial and semi-feudal while the broad masses of the Filipino people is suffering from severe poverty.

Globalization is good...only when it is us who make the decision..not the US. We Filipinos deserve better.

Each and everyone of us deep inside knows this. Starting today, is a great time to be reconsidering our actions and our purpose to our own societally ailing community.

OOC: I can't wholly judge Pres. Cory because I wasn't born yet when she took office. And I haven't really studied what she had done to the country apart from the EDSA revolution and CARP. :)

Nope Wendel, as they say
