eh... I'm not so keen on him being president, the way he handles Davao is pretty questionable and Davao is nowhere as big as the entire country so I don't think the same tactics will work

remember "the end justifies the means" isn't to be taken seriously

Las islas filifinas wrote:Marcos was the only one who invested in infra more than any other president, and the reason for this is he had 20 years in office. I didn't like how he handled the Sabah dispute, it resulted with the Moro uprising. I prefer and voted Macapagal.

Either way, Moros will rebel, even if the Jabidah massacre was prevented.

Oh no, give Santiago powers and she'll walk the talk. Have you ever heard of her stint as the Commissioner of Immigration? She basically filled Alien Detention Centers that the government needed to build another one. The only concern I have with Duterte is his methods of implementing radical policies (which are good in nature), such as his pledge to abolish Customs.

Remember, that while I understand how fellow Filipinos might have a liking for a cold, iron-fisted authoritarian leader akin to Duterte, brutal authoritarianism is not the only way to progress. Killing the blood out of criminals and corrupt leaders will not solve everything and will not make a third-world country into a prosperous one.

Oh, back to the talk, we'll see how Duterte's policies will go and his methods and platforms and plans. And, I don't mind if he's gonna kill the corrupt congressmen and senators seating there.

I however will agree with Eminral Republic that Moros will still rebel even if the Jabidah massacre was prevented. And, seriously, how awesome is that f*****g Miriam is? With that amazing feat, making her the Bureau of Customs OIC will make all the rice smugglers suddenly line up in front with their cargo, and making her Undersec of PDEA will suddenly arrest all drug cartels here.

didn't duterte say that if he'd get the chance he'll abolish the congress and switch it with a ministry?

Although I wholeheartedly supported Santiago because of the fact that my father was one of her campaign managers back in '92, I doubt she'll announce her presidential run just because of lack of funds, health issues, and lack of party support. Even though Duterte's way of ruling and handling things differ from what you wanted, would you rather have Binay as president of the republic who is currently plagued with corruption allegations? or maybe you would rather have Roxas, another twin of PNOY? I've always advocated for a BIGGER change in government to get rid of this rotten system we currently have. If Duterte wins, we will surely have a federal government and that will spread the power throughout the regions of the country. Congress would be abolished. Laws would be passed quick. Lessening the bureaucratic process and initiating faster growth. We would have Charter Change. Swarm of businesses will come. Don't be surprised that within Duterte's presidential years, the Philippines could achieve a double digit growth.

Let us see come 2016. They said that ascending the presidency is "providential".

It's definitely not the only way and it's not the best way. However, with the lack of respect to the law and the authorities and a justice system wherein justice can be bought by the rich, it is the most viable option that we have if we want to get stuff done. Quickly. Reforming the government and the society is the only acceptable application of the "Cut corners whenever possible" attitude of Filipinos.

Congress is useless anyway. There is no real checks and balances in this country. Congress will either bow down to the President or the people..if they feel like their chances of getting reelected is threatened.

Aside from health concerns, if enough people pushes for her to run, she will run. Our biggest contribution to the country is contributing to Ma'am Santiago's 2016 campaign. I also like Duterte because of his federalism stance. Either way of them will work out for the country, but it'll be better if they team up. If neither of them will run, we should all collectively take the "Anyone but Binay" policy. If Roxas is the best way to stop him then so be it. Although the down side is we'll get stuck with another 6 years of gutless, short-sighted government with no balls. But hey it's better than going back to the PGMA years.

Correction: he said he'll replace Congress with a parliamentary system of government, so maybe a Parliament. He also said he'll privatize BIR and other government collection agency, which is one of his terrible platforms.

Effective reform and change in government and politics is what we need, not Genghis Khan-like bloodthirsty mongering killing of anyone that seems corrupt. Remember, never become the monster you tried to kill.

According to experts, we will expect a rise in global warming levels around the world caused by the return of the Ancient Aliens from History Channel next year.
